Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Shut Up and Drag Them Out
Ignatius Leclair’s brows and eyes grew colder, and he turned his head slightly to say in a low voice to Delphine, "Don’t look, it’ll taint your eyes."
A surge of overwhelming anger boiled in the man’s heart.
Ignatius Leclair’s mind was sharp as a blade. With just one glance, he could see what kind of people this so-called maternal aunt’s family was. That man looked at Delphine with a lecherous glint in his eye—Ignatius wished he could gouge out those filthy eyes. As for the woman, she was still clinging onto that Flower Vase as if it were her lifeline. Such uncouth and disgraceful people had somehow walked through the doors of his Leclair estate.
Ignatius’s gaze turned frigid as he shot a cold glance at Mrs. Gu.
Mrs. Gu was so startled that she took a step back, her intestines twisting with regret. Who would’ve thought this couple would be so brazen as to come knocking at their door? In past years, whenever they demanded money, it was always over a phone call. She’d simply send over some money to appease them. Had she known, she would’ve kicked them out immediately.
"How much do you want?" Ignatius squinted and asked unhurriedly.
"Fifty thousand—no, a hundred thousand." The man named a figure. Seeing Ignatius’s seemingly accommodating demeanor, he became somewhat cocky. He actually began to believe that he had truly become a relative of a wealthy family, thinking to himself that this so-called ’elite family’ was no more than outwardly vain and internally weak. He had come to demand money, and weren’t they handing it over obediently?
Delphine said coldly, "Your dim-witted son spent no more than one or two grand on buying a wife. What do you need so much money for? Gambling debts again?"
Just a single offhand sentence was enough to set imaginations running wild.
Ignatius’s expression instantly darkened, and he turned towards Delphine, asking in a heavy tone, "Buying a wife?"
Born into an aristocratic lineage, with the Leclair Family being a name of distinction, Ignatius had only ever heard of such depraved practices through books. Never could he have imagined that in this day and age, such a thing could still happen.
Delphine nodded, her small face icy as she said, "A few years ago, when they were penniless, they even forced me to marry their idiot son."
Time had passed, and the lightness of her words couldn’t begin to describe the gravity of her plight back then.
Ignatius’s palm tightened forcefully around her small hand, his expression completely sinking into eerie calm.
Mrs. Gu was hearing this for the first time and exclaimed in shock, "Something like that actually happened?!"
The supposed maternal aunt, upon seeing Delphine expose the truth, flew into a rage and snapped, "You little wretch! When you got thrown out, you were no better than trash. My son marrying you was already a stroke of luck for you!"
Ignatius could no longer bear it. Coldly, he barked, "Where is everyone? Are you all dead?!"
Maximilian, who had been detained by the butler and hadn’t yet left, rushed in swiftly, casting a gaze at the bizarre scene in the side hall as if looking at dead men walking.
"Gag their mouths and drag them out. Let’s peel off a layer of skin first." The man issued his cold and ruthless command. "As for everything in this house they’ve touched—throw it all out and bring in new replacements."
Before the words had even settled, Maximilian had already grasped the intent and signaled the house’s bodyguards to charge forward like wolves and tigers.
The once-smug aunt and uncle, watching this handsome man flip personalities in an instant, froze for a moment, disbelief spreading across their faces as they shouted, "What are you doing? Let me tell you, we know the law!"
The crowd sneered. In Nanyang, the law was the sharpest blade in Mr. Leclair’s hands.
The bodyguards stepped forward, gagging their mouths before dragging the struggling and wailing pair out of the room.
"Mr. Leclair, looking at these two, it seems they have quite a record. I think it’s best to hand them over to the relevant authorities for proper handling," Maximilian said in a low voice.
Ignatius nodded.
The butler, seeing the place finally return to peace, promptly grinned and instructed the kitchen to begin preparing dinner.
Mrs. Gu, seeing that Ignatius had ordered the despicable relatives to be removed without a single word of mercy, realized just how dire their fate would be. Overcome with fear and anxiety, she silently retreated to her room.
