Chapter 134: Chapter 134: She Has the Words I Carved on Her Shoulder, and Once Carried My Child in Her Womb
Ignatius Leclair’s eyes turned icy cold as he spoke indifferently, "Mr. Squire, you really have a sense of humor. Do you think I would believe that?"
Griffith Squire’s territory had always been around the Golden Triangle. How could Delphine have gone to such a place?
Griffith chuckled wickedly at these words, lighting the cigarette in his hand. Crossing his legs, he watched across the street where Bessie Leclair was storming in with her people to cause a scene. He smirked lazily and said, "Believe it or not, that’s up to you. Back then, who didn’t know I had a woman by my side in the Golden Triangle? She had my initials carved on her shoulder, and she’d even carried my child. The grudge of stealing one’s woman? Well, I’ll accept it with a smile for now."
After finishing, Griffith casually hung up the phone, the devilish curve on his lips growing more pronounced. When he hung up earlier, it seemed like he heard a loud crash from the other end.
The man innocently blinked his mischievous eyes. After all, when it comes to rivals in love, all means are fair. He couldn’t be blamed for this.
After twisting the metaphorical knife into Ignatius, Griffith noticed the commotion over by the film crew and finally rose at a leisurely pace, sauntering over with interest.
The South Seas truly was a fascinating place, where high-society ladies lived with reckless abandon. If it wasn’t scheming at a banquet today, it was storming a film set tomorrow.
How entertaining.
Now, Delphine suddenly found herself being choked by Bessie, and instinctively reacted by grabbing her wrist. With a sharp motion, she freed herself and twisted Bessie’s arm behind her back.
Bessie, born and raised as a pampered socialite, had never endured such pain. She screamed immediately, and in no time, the crowd gathered and rushed forward to separate the two, fearing the situation would spiral out of control.
"Delphine Carter! How dare you fight back?" Bessie, having failed in her attempt to strike, shrieked in frustration. "Let go of me this instant!"
Delphine released her grip and replied coolly, "Miss Leclair, you’ve been lingering here for quite a while. If you don’t head back soon, Jocelyn Yeager would probably come looking for you."
Her words were veiled with threat.
Bessie’s greatest concern was Jocelyn. Terrified that Delphine might call him and cause further entanglement, especially now with the upper hand in Delphine’s grasp, her face turned an ugly shade.
"What a lively scene." Griffith, dressed in pristine white casual attire, sauntered in with an air of noble elegance. He resembled a young master from a wealthy family, yet his seductive eyes betrayed a trace of devil-may-care mischief.
"Mr. Squire, what brings you here?" Upon seeing Griffith, Lian Jiang’s face lit up with delight. Unlike others, he was privy to Griffith’s background. Just a few days ago, Griffith had approached him to invest in his film, uttering only three words: no money limit.
A financier with unlimited funds was a godsend to any film investor. Even if the Leclair family caused more trouble, financial considerations would make them tread carefully.
Bessie’s expression grew even more unpleasant at the sight of Griffith. Observing that his gaze was fixed solely on Delphine, she immediately understood that she had hit an immovable wall today.
"Like a stubborn leech, how revolting. We’re leaving." Bessie slunk back to her car, slammed the door, and sped off.
The crowd was left dumbfounded. Just like that, she left?
Seeing Bessie leave, Delphine also breathed a sigh of relief. If Bessie had decided to get into an all-out brawl, Delphine would undoubtedly have suffered. Yet, seeing Griffith now staring at her with intense interest, Delphine felt an ominous twist in her gut. He was an entity far more troublesome than Bessie.
Lian Jiang and the rest of the film crew enthusiastically entertained Griffith. While the atmosphere on set grew warm and harmonious, things were drastically different at Leclair Group’s headquarters. There, it was like a flood meeting an avalanche, freezing cold in the depths of winter.
