Chapter 75: Chapter 75 Joint Interrogation (1)
"It’s nothing much," the old man said, his expression tinged with melancholy as he looked at Aiden Jiang and explained, "I was sleeping at noon, but Zane woke me up, saying there’s something that needs my decision."
Aiden Jiang nodded, acknowledging it.
"Can it be said now?" The old man glanced at Zane Jackson with a hint of reproach, "On such a hot day, you won’t let people have peace, gathering all these people, what’s this all about?"
"Please don’t be angry." Zane Jackson quickly placated him with a smile, "The matter is rather sensitive, and I couldn’t speak without basis, which would trouble you. I called everyone over so we could clarify things face-to-face for the sake of the children."
He glanced at Lydia Williams, "Where’s Koa?"
"Almost here," Lilian Jackson walked in from the doorway, phone in hand, smiling, "He’s on the way."
Mia Ginger raised her eyes to glance at her.
Lilian Jackson smiled at her, turned around, and leisurely walked out again.
Overjoyed.
She had lost her composure in Koa Jackson’s room, torn over his words and unable to decide on revealing Mia Ginger’s situation these past few days.
Unexpectedly, Marianne Jackson helped her.
Somehow, she had found out about Mia Ginger’s past and told Lydia Williams, who naturally knew how to ensure Zane Jackson found out.
Despite marrying her and having a son and daughter, Zane always valued Koa Jackson, who rarely drew close to him, the most.
Marriage is not a trivial matter.
He didn’t think much of any of the Ginger Family’s daughters. Still, he couldn’t directly oppose the old man, so he quietly observed.
Until he learned about Camilia Davis’s situation.
Lydia Williams’s timely influence this time prompted his immediate decision to investigate and bring everyone together.
The purpose was singular—
In front of the old man, catching everyone off guard, he wanted to highlight the disparity between Mia Ginger and Koa Jackson, ultimately breaking the engagement.
Zane Jackson smiled and looked at Mia Ginger.
Mia Ginger stood opposite the crowd, appearing isolated, yet her expression showed no fear.
Her eyes were dark and bright, very clear.
Zane Jackson felt a pity; if the child hadn’t gone missing back then, she could barely match his son, rather than the current situation.
One was truly a pearl covered in dust.
The other, a girl of humble origins, occupied the phoenix’s nest for many years.
Dismissing this one today surely meant the previously less than satisfactory one couldn’t cling to this engagement either, a win-win.
His gaze was profound, emotions so calm that he was hard to read.
There was a moment of silence in the hall before he looked at Mia Ginger and spoke, "I just heard you call someone ’mom,’ so it seems this is indeed your adoptive mother."
"Yes," said Mia Ginger.
"And these two?" Zane Jackson knowingly asked.
"They’re both my friends."
"Very well." Zane Jackson smiled.
The old man looked at him with a slight impatience, as he leisurely turned to Aiden Jiang and Charlotte Chester, raising an eyebrow, "This girl’s adoptive mother, didn’t you two investigate?"
"What do you mean, Zane?"
Aiden Jiang was a year younger than Zane Jackson. They often played together growing up, and the form of address hadn’t changed over the years.
"Her adoptive mother used to be a massage parlor girl, working at tables, did you two not know?" Zane Jackson was clearly angry at being previously deceived, yet his calm, smiling words sent chills down one’s spine.
