Chapter 733: Chapter 307: The Big Carp Gate Plank
After traveling a certain distance, the fishing boat anchored at the mouth of a small tributary.
"Uncle says we can fish here, this is the fishing rod, this is the bait."
The female tour guide distributed the fishing rods and bait and then started to set up the equipment, seemingly a fishing enthusiast herself.
Lin Yang helped Yue’er organize the fishing gear and briefly explained some precautions. She was self-aware and not particularly interested in big fish; instead, she was very intrigued by the giant shrimp mentioned by the guide, as long as an arm.
Therefore, Lin Yang made the bait provided by the boatman a bit smaller to reduce the likelihood of big fish biting.
Then he began to set up his own equipment.
Since there were giants in the river, he certainly used a large casting rod.
As for the bait, Lin Yang was not impressed with the fish meat provided by the boatman.
After some thought, he decided to start with Crucian Carp bait.
Although the guide said that the big fish were called giant Siamese carp, from the photo, they just looked like oversized Crucian Carp. Lin Yang thought the Crucian Carp bait might work too.
He first attached a small portion of Crucian Carp bait on the hook, and then wrapped it with a piece of fish meat. With a bit of force, he cast the bait out.
He used a bottom fishing method since the boatman’s fishing gear did not include a float, so naturally, he could not make one.
Next, it was just a matter of quietly waiting for the fish to bite.
During his stay in Thailand, Lin Yang decided not to live stream, but he still planned to record the fishing process with a drone. Later, he would edit the footage to include clips of the catch and post it on TikTok, and it would also be fully available to watch in a CCTV documentary.
The few of them quietly fished on the boat. Five minutes passed, Lin Yang’s fishing rod remained completely still.
However, Yue’er next to him had already caught a shrimp as long as a hand.
Its massive head, short body, and blue large pincers!
The length as long as a hand included the large pincers accounting for half of that length; even so, it was a sizable shrimp.
Following the guide’s instruction, Yue’er delightedly placed it into the live fish well.
Lin Yang then reeled his bait back in, removed the Crucian Carp bait from the hook, replaced it with Carp bait and cast it out once more.
Another five minutes passed, and his fishing rod was still motionless.
"...."
Well, it seemed that either there were no Carp or Crucian Carp in the river, or those big fish did not like either type of bait.
Lin Yang reeled in his bait again and, after some thought, added a bit of fish attractant.
After preparing it, he cast it out again.
The big fish in the river did not make Lin Yang wait long; within about thirty to forty seconds, the fishing line extending from his rod went from slack to taut. Immediately after, a massive tugging sensation transmitted from the rod to his hand.
A fish had bitten!
Lin Yang didn’t even need to tug the rod; it dramatically bent, indicating the considerable size of the fish biting.
"Whoosh~"
A massive splash erupted not far away, and a huge fish body flashed through the murky river water and then disappeared.
"Wow, it’s really that big!"
From a quick glance, Lin Yang could tell the fish that bit was at least over a meter long.
"It looks like the fish is quite sizeable, I just don’t know if this fishing rod can hold up."
Li Xiaopeng, who had been waiting a while without a bite, saw Lin Yang catch a fish and straightforwardly reeled in his bait to watch Lin Yang’s performance, and the female guide did the same.
"These sea rods look quite crude, but they are incredibly durable, just a bit heavy, but still okay for catching big fish," the female guide remarked at that moment.
"They’re indeed pretty tough."
Lin Yang agreed, even if it wasn’t tough, he would have to make it work since he had the rod protection buff.
The fish was sizeable, but compared to others he had fished before, it seemed a bit lacking in strength.
About ten minutes later, he pulled a huge Crucian Carp-shaped fish to the side of the boat.
The big fish didn’t have much stamina; by now, it could only be led around by Lin Yang without much struggle.
As he was thinking about how to get this fish onto the small boat, he heard a "plop."
The boatman had jumped into the water.
Then the boatman swam to the big fish, grabbed it, and lifted it up, and with a bit of effort, he pushed the fish onto the boat.
"Successfully caught a...."
While it looked like an oversized Crucian Carp, it indeed carried the name "carp."
The reward was fairly average.
But seeing the fish up close refreshed Lin Yang’s perception.
To him, what were Big Plate Crucian Carp compared to this one? He would call it a Door Plate Crucian Carp!
"Pitter-patter~"
Perhaps being out of its familiar environment and suddenly exposed to the air, the giant Siamese carp started thrashing on the boat, causing it to tremble, making Lin Yang worry if the flimsy vessel might fall apart.
"Come on, let’s take some photos and then release it, don’t let it break the boat."
"Click-click~"
Even the female guide wasn’t an exception, she took a photo with the big Crucian Carp, and then, with the reluctant eyes of the boatman watching, Lin Yang released it back into the river.
Perhaps attracted by the buff Lin Yang had activated, shortly after Li Xiaopeng and the guide cast their bait, they both also caught fish.
