Chapter 665: Chapter 284: Successful Capture
Lin Yang was, as usual, lying in the cellar, snacking and chatting with netizens when suddenly, he glanced out of the corner of his eye at the Thunderbird bait tied next to the Y-shaped fork.
Normally, the Thunderbird was quite docile, occasionally trying to break free but quickly calming down after realizing it couldn’t escape.
But today, the bird was acting unusually, awkwardly lying on the ground motionless, its small eyes occasionally darting skyward, as if fearing something.
Birds generally have much better vision than humans, and seeing the Thunderbird’s behavior, Lin Yang immediately realized something was up.
"Guys, something’s going on," he whispered, and immediately began scanning the surroundings with the drone’s camera.
His guess was spot on. In the direction facing the sun, a white shadow appeared mid-air.
Once Lin Yang confirmed the situation, he quickly pulled the string tied to the Thunderbird’s leg.
Scared as it was, the Thunderbird couldn’t help but flap its wings a few times when suddenly pulled.
In the camera’s view, the Spear Falcon, which had been circling overhead, noticed the movement of the Thunderbird bait and immediately flew toward it.
From the wide-angle lens, he saw the white shadow move gradually from the south to right above him, Lin Yang tightened up, his other hand silently gripped the string of the hawk net.
The Spear Falcon, breeding in the wild with low guard against hunters’ tricks, quickly took action upon spotting its prey.
As Lin Yang teased with the bait again, the Spear Falcon in the sky suddenly adjusted its posture and dove toward the ground.
The once-spread wings snapped together tightly, resembling a high-speed bomb as it plummeted.
The next second, the Spear Falcon swooped down and kicked the Thunderbird bait upon nearing the ground, then after hitting its target, it flared its wings again, made a low turn, and descended toward the Thunderbird’s location.
Now is the moment.
Lin Yang suddenly yanked the hawk net up and, with a whoosh, ensnared both the hawk and the Thunderbird in the net.
Seeing he had secceded, he didn’t bother to explain but burst out of the cellar, shedding his jacket while running toward the net. By the time he reached it, he had already taken it off.
Though the mesh of the hawk net was large, it was much smaller than the breadth of the Spear Falcon’s wingspan. Surprised and scared, the Spear Falcon, no longer caring about the Thunderbird, screeched loudly and chaotically flapped its wings inside the net.
Had it not struggled, there might have been a chance to escape, but its frantic flapping only tangled it more in the net. Lin Yang covered the falcon with his jacket, squatted down, and grasped it.
The mortally frightened Spear Falcon’s calls were harsh and loud, sounding very much like a noisy duck.
However, Lin Yang was in high spirits. Having covered the falcon with his jacket, which blocked out the light, the little creature’s struggles noticeably weakened.
He first secured the falcon’s talons, then removed the netting around its wings, declaring the hawk-catching mission complete.
The rest was easy. He connected the grommet and the rope, armed himself with the rabbit fur sleeve, and holding the rope tightly, forced the falcon to perch on his arm.
To say it was "forced" is no exaggeration. The rope tied to the falcon’s legs left only about ten centimeters of leeway, with the other end firmly in hand, making it impossible for the falcon to fly.
After several failed attempts to fly, hanging upside down, Lin Yang only had to flick his arm gently, and it would easily return to his arm, soon realizing escape was futile and calmly perching there.
This Spear Falcon was still not accustomed to humans. Its beak wide open, wings drooping, and Lin Yang made any slight move, its large eyes would wildly spin, wanting to hide or even flee.
Once he had stabilized the falcon’s mood, he finally breathed a sigh of relief, flew the drone up for a close-up shot of the newly equipped Spear Falcon.
This falcon was a standard white morph, with its head, forechest, and abdomen all adorned with pure white feathers, while its secondary wing feathers, back, and tail exhibited a speckled white pattern similar to that of speckled chickens.
Perched majestically on his arm, its muscular frame, sharp gaze, yellow ceres, serrated beak, and talons with blood grooves more than three centimeters long all silently proclaimed its status as a top-tier aerial predator.
"Haha, everyone look, after such a long wait, it was still worthwhile. How about it? Beautiful isn’t it?" Lin Yang proudly posed with the Spear Falcon.
"Damn, the host is awesome."
"The way he shot that net had me so excited, such a quick reaction."
"What you call divine skill, this is divine skill, a million times better than those tailless hawks in zoos."
Lin Yang shook his head, "We’re really lucky. If I’m not mistaken, this should be a one-year-old, sub-adult female Spear Falcon.
I don’t have a scale, but by the feel of it, it weighs at least five pounds, which is quite large for a Spear Falcon. In other words, the Spear Falcon we caught is a rare find, no wonder such a young one already has its own territory."
