Chapter 624: Chapter 270: Successful Breakout
When I was using the fishing rod earlier, I could only see its head and half its body, and couldn’t really grasp how big it was; now that the wild boar had completely lost its balance and was floating up, everyone could finally see its full size.
This large wild boar was over one and a half meters in length and weighed at least over two hundred kilograms; if we were in China, such a catch could fetch quite a pretty penny.
Lin Yang poked it again with the tip of the rod to check for any reaction and, sensing none, he finally relaxed.
Then, he locked the fishing reel’s brake and handed it to Yue’er to hold, before flashing a smile at the drone camera.
"Haha, brothers, how was our smart battle against the wild boar? The boar got drowned by Uncle Victor, and now I declare, the battle is over."
"The first person to fish for a wild boar with a rod, man, you’re like a cow shooting off fireworks—explosively awesome!"
"I’ve seen fishing for fish, for shrimps, even eels, crabs, turtles, but fishing for a wild boar is a first for me. Lived for decades and now I’ve seen it all."
"What are we gonna do with this big guy? Take it back? If we were in China, it would be worth quite a lot of money. Even if we didn’t sell it, cooking it would be awesomely delicious."
"The guy upstairs must be talking nonsense. If you say it’s valuable I believe you, because it is wild game after all. But to say it’s tasty? Taste my foot! A sow might taste a bit better. Mature, strong male boars, if not cooked right, can taste pretty gamey. Just look at that big lump, this fellow’s got the goods."
"Damn, you’re taking quite the angle there! Now that you mention it, this wild boar really is quite robust."
"Motherf*cker, stop it, will you? We’ve got ladies in the stream, for crying out loud. Lin Yang, turn the pig over; that’s a real eyesore to look at."
The perfectly fine livestream got derailed in an instant by a viewer’s comment, and a bunch of bored guys started examining the boar’s private parts.
Scratching his head, Lin Yang immediately adjusted the drone’s equipment to censor the sensitive area.
"Err, stop looking, will you? Not suitable for children."
Upon hearing the words "not suitable for children", Yue’er reflexively glanced over, then lowered her head blushing.
Feeling a bit awkward, Lin Yang forced himself to appear calm and turned his head to Uncle Victor: "Uncle Victor, shall we clean up here or wait until we get back to camp? My neighbor back home is a butcher, and I’ve helped out when I was a kid. I can help you if we do it now."
Victor glanced at the boar and then at the time on his watch, unable to help but say.
"It’s getting dark soon, and we don’t have much time to clean up this catch meticulously. But it just drowned, so its blood hasn’t cooled off. I can start by bleeding it, which will improve the taste of the meat."
Upon hearing this, Lin Yang said, "Alright then, let’s bleed it first, and we’ll take care of the rest back at camp."
The consensus reached, Uncle Victor promptly started working, took out a roll of wire from his toolbox and tied the boar’s hind legs to the stern of the boat, then made a precise cut at the carotid artery on the boar’s neck with his hunting knife.
With this cut, Uncle Victor’s profound hunting skills were on full display; he sliced the blood vessel cleanly, the legs were tied up high, and the boar’s head hung below the boat, draining as much blood as possible.
After bleeding the boar, Uncle Victor continued piloting the fishing boat toward the small dock, leaving behind a faint trail of blood in the water.
By the time they reached the dock, the off-road vehicle from the camp was already there waiting.
In fact, wrestling with the wild boar on the way had wasted at least two hours, and they were now well past the designated time to return in the afternoon. Had it not been for the absence of an emergency satellite phone call, the farm might have already sent someone out to search for them.
"Hey, Victor, ran into some trouble?" The off-road driver jovially greeted Victor. "A little later and it would’ve been pitch-black."
Uncle Victor grinned and said, "No trouble, but we’ve got a surprise. On the way back, we caught a wild boar with a fishing rod!"
"Damn, that joke’s not funny at all. Hurry up and get your gear in the car; it’s getting late!"
Uncle Victor: "I’m not joking with you. Come give us a hand to get the catch up."
Victor was the first to jump down from the boat, securing the fishing boat to the dock’s mooring post, then began to untie the wire around the boar’s hind legs, preparing to drag it onto the shore.
Driver Steve became unsettled upon seeing the huge wild boar.
Even during hunting seasons, with guns, hunting dogs, and experienced hunters, bagging a full-grown male boar of this size was extremely difficult without perfect opportunities, and ordinary folks wouldn’t bother causing such trouble for themselves.
"You found it?" Steve helped pull the boar to the shore and asked with doubt.
"Didn’t I tell you we fished it with the rod? To be precise, it was our friend Lin Yang from China using his reinforced fishing rod. This unlucky fellow was crossing the river right when we ran into it.
Then the hook caught onto the boar, and using the fishing gear, we drained it of its strength and then drowned it. We’ve already bled it, and we’ll clean the rest when we get back to camp," Victor explained.
The day’s events had genuinely excited him.
As an experienced hunter, he knew full well the dangers of a full-grown boar; managing to hunt one so easily was something he wouldn’t have believed if he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes.
