Chapter 622: Chapter 269: Fishing for Wild Boars_2
Uncle Victor shook his head again, "I did bring a shotgun, but considering we were engaged in surface fishing without any plans to go ashore, I brought buckshot rather than slugs."
"That boar in the middle of the river is a mature male, and five shots of buckshot won’t be enough to kill it. In fact, it might not even pierce the skin."
Uncle Victor’s words made Lin Yang feel a bit regretful.
This was a rare opportunity, far better than the effort of tracking in the mountains with nothing to hide behind; the boar wouldn’t be able to take advantage of its physical strength in the water.
Since buckshot couldn’t penetrate the boar’s hide, the hunting effect would naturally be poor. Was there another method?
A decision had to be made quickly. Though the river was wide, it would not take long to swim to the other side. Any further delay and the chance would be lost.
As Lin Yang pondered the problem with a frown, his gaze fell upon the heavy-duty fishing rod at his feet, and a lightbulb went off in his head—Eureka!
"If I can guarantee absolute safety and subdue the boar, could you offer your help within your capabilities and complete the necessary post-hunt reporting and verification?" Lin Yang turned and continued to inquire of Uncle Victor.
Without any hesitation, Victor nodded, "Of course, but what do you plan to do?"
Lin Yang bent down to pick up the sturdy fishing rod in his hand, "How about using this?"
This robust rod was the toughest Uncle Victor had ever seen in his lifetime. Even when dealing with the sturgeon, it was usually the fish pulling the boat, but the rod had remained perfectly intact.
If used to fish for the wild boar, there might actually be a chance of success.
Even if it proved impossible, the worst-case scenario would be to cut the line and let it go. The boar wasn’t capable of much in the water, and as long as no one fell in, there was no danger.
"That’s actually a viable idea to try!" Victor agreed, nodding his head.
With the captain’s permission, Lin Yang immediately became excited, raising the fishing rod in his hand, "Brothers, Uncle Victor has agreed to help us.
Next, I plan to use fishing tactics to challenge this river-crossing boar. Watch me!"
He casually took a pair of scissors from his waist tool pouch and adjusted the fishing rig hooks.
Disregarding wear and tear, the carbon line was unnecessary. He directly tied the large hook onto the sturdy main line and locked it in place, then adjusted the weight for casting.
In a matter of seconds, while Uncle Victor had just turned the boat around to chase the boar in the water, Lin Yang had already redone the fishing rig.
"The rig is adjusted; let’s test its usefulness. The moment of miracle is upon us!"
Ten seconds later, the fishing boat stopped about ten meters from the boar. Lin Yang gave a final check to his reel and rig, aimed for the neck where the boar’s head connected to its body, and cast it out.
The rig flew with a whooshing sound, landing precisely on the boar’s back.
The next second, Lin Yang yanked the fishing rod to the side.
The hook tip, designed with barbs and an inward bend to prevent large fish from slipping off, was incredibly sharp and tough. Influenced by the pulling force of the rod, it easily pierced through the skin on the side of the boar’s neck and hooked on.
"Hooked on the first try, off we go!" Lin Yang called out excitedly, bracing the rod against his abdomen, ready for battle.
However, the force that followed was somewhat disappointing.
Despite the boar weighing several hundred pounds, it didn’t have much strength in the water.
The pain of the hook piercing its flesh made it squeal and struggle desperately. Its short legs flailing wildly in the water, but the force generated was mediocre, roughly comparable to the half-dead effort after struggling with the sturgeon a little while ago.
Lin Yang was confident that without relying on the boat captain’s maneuvers, he could tire it out completely using just the reel.
The boar, which would even make a tiger retreat three feet in the forest, was now experiencing the most distressing moment of its pig life.
Its body floated, unable to leverage power in the water, the boar’s legs churning in vain. Its digging power was no match for that of a similar-sized fish.
A sharp and sturdy hook with barbs hung from its neck, and no matter how much it struggled, it couldn’t break free, only driving the hook deeper.
Watching Lin Yang take control of the boar with the rod in just a few minutes, the live-streaming room erupted.
The viewers were prepared for the heavy-duty gear catching large fish, having seen a thousand-pound bluefin hauled in during a sea fishing stream.
But using fishing equipment to catch a wild boar that roamed arrogantly in the mountains, this was totally unexpected for everyone.
"Holy shit, how did the host come up with this idea, using a fishing rod to catch a wild boar? This must be a first on the internet!"
"Mom asked me why I was kneeling and staring at my phone; I said someone is live-streaming catching a wild boar with a fishing rod!"
"Pig Sister caught by Hammerstone, now that’s a big trouble coming up, foreseeably it’s an angry first blood!"
"You’re confused, mate. This is a big male boar, not some Pig Sister; thanks for ruining my childhood. Now you’ve said it, I can’t unsee it in my head."
"Fishing streamer goes abroad to fish, furious catch of a several hundred-pound male wild boar on the Heilong River! Host, you’re definitely hitting the trending list tomorrow!"
"Damn, get the screen recording going, this is way more eye-catching than feeding bear cubs with Emperor Crabs... "
Seeing his idea achieve success with ease, Lin Yang was secretly thrilled, noticing the stream’s viewers stirring and asking questions.
