Chapter 580: Chapter 254: Connect with the Behemoth

Meanwhile, the huge creature in the water revealed its true identity; it turned out to be an enormous catfish.

"Lin, you’re incredibly skilled. It’s only been such a short while and you’ve already landed the first big one."

Before Lin Yang could react, he heard a splash- Jeremy had jumped straight into the river ahead.

"Wow, this guy is fierce, just jumping in like that."

"Haha, maybe he’s just too passionate about the big fish."

"Right, he always jumps in like this whenever we get a big one."

The viewers in the live stream were also stunned by Jeremy’s actions.

Lin Yang could only shake his head helplessly at this point; this fellow really had an unusual enthusiasm for his profession.

Yet, looking at the big fellow that had been pulled to the shore, Lin Yang felt a twinge of disappointment.

Despite the size of the big catfish in front of him, it was still a far cry from being able to tear open the belly of a young calf.

Clearly, this wasn’t the target fish he was after.

"Hey, Lin, check out this big guy’s huge mouth."

At that moment, Jeremy, completely smitten with the big catch in front of him, had it tightly embraced in his arms.

Compared to its weight, Jeremy could lift it in the water, but it was impossible for him to drag it completely out of the surface.

After displaying his fervor, Jeremy began to measure various data on the giant catfish.

Beyond his passion for fishing, the little old man hadn’t forgotten that he was also a wildlife scientist.

"Hey, Lin, don’t you want to come down for a photo? This is your first catch here."

Lin Yang, hearing Jeremy’s words, just smiled and shook his head, "No need."

With that, he removed the hook.

...

After landing this big fellow, a number of local villagers had gathered behind Lin Yang; they gestured and commented towards the big catfish on the water surface.

From their expressions, Lin Yang could tell that they held some deep resentment toward the big guy.

After all, although this giant catfish wasn’t the culprit that killed the calf, it could easily devour smaller animals like domestic poultry.

At this moment, an old man with a cane approached Lin Yang, babbling rapidly.

Lin Yang looked at him blankly and then called over a young fellow to act as an interpreter between them.

"Honorable sir, he is our village chief. He wishes to inquire about your plans for dealing with this water monster. If you don’t mind, could we take care of it?"

Lin Yang was taken aback, "Water monster?"

Is this size considered a water monster?

Looking at the eager village chief, Lin Yang gestured and said, "Do as you please."

Although the catfish was huge, it wasn’t a rare species. He had intended to release it anyway.

Now that there was someone willing to take it off his hands, he was more than happy to pass it along.

...

"Hey, Lin, you snatched the first catch from me just now, but I won’t go easy on you next," Jeremy called out after recording the big catfish’s data.

Lin Yang laughed upon hearing this, "As you wish."

After speaking, he reattached a chunk of bloody raw beef to to the hook.

However, before casting again, Lin Yang seriously surveyed the vast river bend in front of him.

The lake surface was slightly turbulent, but the vast expanse of water seemed very calm. If there were any big ones down there, they were certainly catting around in some quiet corner.

So, Lin Yang aimed his cast directly towards an area by the river bank, where several thick branches emerged from the jungle.

But the expanse of the water was so wide it presented a substantial challenge to him.

Seeing Lin Yang gesturing for quite some time without casting his rod, Jeremy shouted, "What’s up, Lin?"

Just as he was about to ask why Lin Yang hadn’t made his cast, the next second, his question was forcibly swallowed back.

Lin Yang stood with legs apart, in a fore-and-aft stance, lifting the rod above his head.

The next moment, he bent backward to an extreme arc, like a fully drawn bow.

"Huh."

Then came a whooshing sound; Lin Yang’s bent rod sprang forward.

Power exploded from a single point – his torso drove his arms, his arms drove the rod, the rod drove the line, and the several-pound piece of raw beef attached to the hook flew out rapidly with the line.

Jeremy watched the direction in which Lin Yang’s bait flew, and an astounding thought suddenly surged in his mind.

"Is this kid trying to?"

Before Jeremy had a moment to ponder, he quickly got his answer.

After tracing a perfect parabola in the air, the rapidly flying bundle of bait landed precisely below a spot where branches hung over the opposite riverbank.

"Sss!"

That location had crossed the experienced Jeremy’s mind as a potential hiding spot for big fish.

But he had never acted on it because the distance from his side to the opposite riverbank was too great – so great that he couldn’t even cast halfway across.

But now...

Seeing this, Jeremy looked at the young man with the yellow skin beside him with renewed eyes.

While aware of many of Lin Yang’s exploits, those had been hearsay or things he had learned about online.
