Chapter 57: Chapter 056: Frantically Nesting

Lin Yang was already well-placed in the middle section, surrounded by the route the fish had to take. After continual Scatter Bomb casts, soon enough, there were signs of fish again.

The fish group that had finally gathered was disrupted by someone making a nest, effectively ruining all previous efforts.

Had it been the Lin Yang of before, he might have already started arguing with the troublemaker, but his mentality had greatly improved now.

There were already six or seven fish in the keepnet; even if there were no more bites after that, he wouldn’t lose much money. Besides, he was live streaming, so he needed to keep a calm mindset.

It was now past seven forty, and he had been fishing for over half an hour. They had only stocked that little fish, and many had already been caught.

Judging by normal logic, gathering the fish group again was basically impossible.

So he adjusted his strategy: Scatter Bomb on the upper hook, kneaded bait on the lower hook, luring while fishing.

Originally just a makeshift plan, unexpectedly, the rhythm of catching fish worked quite well in this pit.

Double hooks just teased a bit; if there was no bite, he would lift the rod. On average, he could maintain a speed of catching one fish every three or four casts.

With more and more casts, the bites were even hastening.

After catching five more fish, Lin Yang calculated quickly; he could almost start packing up his catch.

Just as his pace was changing from slow hops to fast hops, Yang Xincheng at the southwest corner felt a bit frustrated.

Occupying a good spot was true, but a stranger sitting next to him had used some secret method, aggressively luring away the fish at his spot.

Yang Xincheng had only caught seven or eight fish before the bites stopped, while the angler next to him continually caught fish, reaching the point where each bait drop would get bites, and failing to capture one meant getting a double-tailed fish on the next bite.

After agonizingly waiting for twenty minutes, he couldn’t take it anymore. He put down his rod and leisurely walked toward the middle section.

He suspected his bait was subpar, so he came to ask Lin Yang for some of his to try.

After reaching Lin Yang’s spot, the bites were already fast; every cast resulted in action, with Carp and Golden Crucian Carp mixed together, showing hardly any difference in the float movements.

Seeing Lin Yang was live streaming, Yang Xincheng gently tugged on the hem of his T-shirt. Lin Yang felt it and turned to see it was his uncle.

"Uncle, what’s up?"

"Xiao Yang, let me try the bait you’re using. I ran into a master today who’s next to me, making me unable to catch anything."

"The bait’s in the bowl, feel free to take some. What’s happening over at your spot?"

When Lin Yang heard this, someone sitting on the side sweeping the master spot?

Given the current fishing spot conditions, this definitely wasn’t a problem that could just be solved by strong bait.

"I see he’s using bait similar to yours; how do you use this bait?" Yang Xincheng curiously asked.

When Lin Yang heard this, he knew the other angler must be tactically overpowering his uncle.

He then turned around, found an empty bait bucket, took some Scatter Bomb Bait, added a little water, grabbed a big handful of light bran, and mixed thoroughly, adjusting the bait to a slightly moist state, perfect for hooking, yet dispersing in the water.

It was too dry for Yang Xincheng to use before, but now it was just about right.

"Try this bait, normally knead it onto the hook, don’t seal both the top and bottom, pinch a bit at the handle of the hook, and if there’s no bite, don’t stick it out. Pull up the rod if the bait reaches the bottom and they still won’t bite!"

While talking, Lin Yang demonstrated the baiting technique. Scatter Bomb bait wasn’t easy to learn quickly, but what Lin Yang taught him was the bowling ball baiting method, a unique expertise of Mr. Hua.

Since it was similar to the common kneading method, Yang Xincheng understood the gist after one demonstration and didn’t think further, he simply carried the bowl back to his fishing position.

Often, whether one can catch fish or regain the initiative is just a thin barrier away.

Yang Xincheng tried it according to the method Lin Yang had described, and after less than ten casts, he started getting bites at his feeding spot again.

This change delighted him immensely, indicating that the bait was effective and the method was viable.

Thus, he increased his casting frequency.

Seeing Yang Xincheng getting fish after getting some bait from Lin Yang, Yu Yitong felt even more eager.

After much hesitation, he finally plucked up the courage to ask, "Young man, can you lend me some of your fish food to try?"

Lin Yang didn’t even lift his head, "Sorry, I barely have enough for myself, I really don’t have any to spare."

Bluntly denied, Yu Yitong’s face alternated between red and white, looking extremely awkward.

Seeing Lin Yang continue to catch fish, he clenched his teeth and took out a new package of Marukyu Kiyoshi from his tackle box.

With no bites, it was definitely the bait that was ineffective. He decided to gamble by using Marukyu Kiyoshi to make the feeding spot more attractive, convinced that the fish would bite.

In a fit of pique, Yu Yitong tore open the packaging bag, directly poured an entire pack of Marukyu Kiyoshi into the rubber bucket, and without hesitating, he poured water from a washbasin to mix it all together, using up all 800 grams of Marukyu Kiyoshi.

The unique fermented algae aroma of the imported Marukyu Kiyoshi spread around as soon as he opened the pack.

Lin Yang glanced over, thinking the other was starting a new bait mix, but seeing the whole pack go into the bucket with water mixed in, he was somewhat perplexed.

Using pure imported Marukyu Kiyoshi as ground bait? That seemed excessively extravagant.

A few minutes later, the puffed granules of Marukyu Kiyoshi absorbed water and started to swell, and the algae aroma became even richer.

What stunned Lin Yang even more was yet to come.

Yu Yitong glanced toward the direction of the cabin, seeing the pit boss Wang Jian Country apparently having some business inside, he quickly made up his mind, squeezed the Marukyu Kiyoshi into clumps, and without sparing any, plopped them into the feeding spot.

Now Lin Yang was thoroughly annoyed!

A slight interference was tolerable, fishing a couple of fish from the nest was bearable, but such blatant disruption was totally uncalled for!

He had just made the new feeding spot active, the bites were fast, and now, it was completely disrupted.

"Fine, you’re amazing."

Lin Yang, frustrated yet amused, turned and grabbed a handful of light bran from his tackle box and scattered it into the scatter bomb basin.

Isn’t it to mess with your buddies? Let’s see if you can catch any.

Lin Yang readjusted the direction of his tackle box and cast directly towards the area where Yu Yitong was baiting to lure the fish.

The original scatter bomb mixture had a low water ratio of about 1:0.4; adding a handful of light bran reduced the water ratio even further.

A lower water ratio meant it was harder to bait, and the bait dispersed faster once in the water.

That was the effect Lin Yang wanted.

You’re using Kiyoshi to bait, right?

I’ll just scatter my bait bomb next to you and see who can’t handle it in the end.

At most, neither of us catches anything, but since I’m already done, I’m not at a loss!

Yu Yitong was a bit surprised to see Lin Yang turning his tackle box this way and was displeased when he started casting.

"Hey, why are you messing with my baiting spot?"

Lin Yang chuckled. "I paid the fishing fee, and I am in my own spot. I can fish wherever I want. If you have a problem, talk to the owner."

The same reply came back untouched, leaving Yu Yitong choking on his words.

What made Yu Yitong even more desperate was yet to come.

After adjusting the spray of the scatter bomb, Lin Yang, fueled by anger, cast his rod, not caring much whether he would catch fish or not, using double hooks with massive scatter bombs, pressing as large as possible.

After a few casts which didn’t satisfy him, he directly took out a bottle of Black Earthworm Elastic Granules from his tackle box and hung it on the hook.

Now, using the elastic granules wasn’t for fishing, but to increase the contact area at the bottom of the hook so he could press a larger scatter bomb without it falling off.

After opening several jin of scatter bombs, only Yang Xincheng took away less than half a basin, about less than one jin, the rest were still in the bait basin behind.

The old man excited about the 600 pounds of fish, made Lin Yang feel like he was casting a massive bomb of wealth, anyway, the bait that was prepared couldn’t be recollected.

Giant clumps of scatter bomb bait were thrown into the targeted area, and in less than half an hour, another jin of bait had dried up, making the new fishing spot turbid.

The formula bait originally had a better fish-luring effect, and the massive atomization was fatally tempting for the farm-raised live fish.

Thus, under a barrage of relentless attacks, Lin Yang’s fishing spot completely boiled over.

Golden Crucian Carps and big Carp, as if they had drunk fake alcohol, were constantly causing a commotion around the bait spot, sometimes leaping out of the water, and sometimes diving to the bottom, amazingly gathering in large numbers again.

Looking through the phone’s camera to the front, one could see a dense cluster of fish on the surface, a large dark mass.

"Damn, the streamer has completely rocked it."

"Now that old man must be dumbfounded. With the fish acting like this, you wouldn’t be scared even throwing a brick in there."

"Carp can also float? The fish have been sucked to the surface, so many of them!"

The fact proved.

Under specific circumstances, Carp could indeed float, at least being drawn to the surface.

Seeing the fish go completely crazy, Lin Yang didn’t care much anymore. Estimating with the lead skin, he cut it with scissors, then adjusted the float, switching from bottom fishing to floating fishing.

This made Yu Yitong stare in disbelief.

What’s going on? How come all the fish have come up?

The moves that puzzled Yu Yitong even more were yet to come.

Lin Yang used double hooks with two small pinches of bait, each hook stem equipped with two small scatter bombs, and threw them into the bait spot.

As the bait entered the water, a large number of fish that had followed it to the surface surged up, splashing a huge area of water.

At this stage, watching the float for bites had become pointless. Lin Yang just counted two seconds, lifted the rod, and a fish had already swallowed the hook.

The speed of catching the fish was so fast that under normal bottom fishing circumstances, the float wouldn’t have even had a chance to turn.

In two rounds, he flicked the fish to the shore and scooped it into the net. After dropping the fish into the keepnet, Lin Yang frowned and glanced at his line setup.

The fish were so quick; the equal pole line was slightly holding things back.

Thus, under everyone’s watchful eyes, Lin Yang directly picked up the scissors and gave his main line a snap near the bottom.

"What the heck is the streamer up to now?"

"With such quick fish, why did he cut the main line? Is he going to stop fishing?"

"Could it be that he’s so frustrated? I didn’t hear that old man saying anything."

"I don’t understand, but I feel the streamer definitely has his own plan. Let’s keep watching and ask when he reels in."

Lin Yang cutting the main line wasn’t because he was too frustrated to continue fishing, but a conscious adjustment of the gear details to improve fish control efficiency.

Normally in fishing, most anglers’ main lines with the eight-character ring are level with the pole’s bottom joint, such that after tying the leader, it protrudes twenty to thirty centimeters just right for extending the arm length when casting.

But today, with the fish being so quick, this method was somewhat delaying.

The longer the main line, the harder it is for a single person to scoop the fish upward because the pole bends under stress, requiring the pole to be lifted to a higher position to get the fish out of the water.

By cutting the main line shorter by thirty to forty centimeters, this problem becomes much simpler.
