Chapter 49: Chapter 048: Workshop Renovation
The two lure anglers could only humbly accept the uncle’s teachings.
After all, they hadn’t caught a single big fish in over an hour, whereas Lin Yang, who was using a fishing platform, had consecutively caught three.
When it came to skill, they were no match for Lin Yang.
Another hour passed.
Lin Yang had already caught seven Big Plate Crucian Carps and three big carps.
Fishermen by the river, both young and old, gathered around.
"I’ve been fishing for years, and this is the first time I’ve seen so many caught in just over an hour."
"Isn’t that the truth? I’ve been fishing here since I was ten, and now I’m in my fifties. The most I’ve ever caught in a day was just over thirty pounds, but this young man caught so much in such a short time, incredible."
"It’s the young people who really know how to fish now, not like us, just sticking it out and being happy with whatever we catch."
"Can you believe this? I fished here yesterday and only caught two little carps, but today it’s like a holy spot."
"Every day I’m baiting the place, essentially making it good for others, it’s helpless."
In the live broadcast room.
The number of Lin Yang’s viewers had also grown to eight hundred.
Having so many viewers during the day was pretty good, not to mention that fishing was a niche theme in the world of live streaming.
After another half an hour of fishing.
Lin Yang noticed that there didn’t seem to be much fish activity in his baited area, so he said to Li Xiaopeng, "Let’s head back."
Li Xiaopeng stole a glance at the fishermen on the shore and cautiously replied, "Okay."
Packing up early and heading back had no disadvantages; if they kept on catching fish, they might incite public outrage later on.
"Young man, do you want to sell your catch?" the uncle, seeing Lin Yang and Li Xiaopeng starting to pack up, proactively asked.
Lin Yang looked at the man and replied, "Sure."
These past few days he had been catching plenty of fish, and his home freezer was nearly stuffed full of them.
There was no space to store today’s catch at home either, so it made sense to just sell them for cash on the spot.
Old Lin: "How do you want to sell them?"
Lin Yang: "There’s roughly thirty pounds here, a mix of big and small carps and Blue Carps. Just give me a thousand for all of them."
Old Lin: "Then thank you in advance."
Wild Big Plate Crucian Carps could sell for between 20 to 50 per pound, and wild carps could be sold for 10 to 20 per pound. Selling thirty pounds of wild carps and Blue Carps for a thousand was definitely a good deal.
Seeing how cheaply Lin Yang was selling the fish, others truly wanted them, but they were too late since someone had beaten them to it; they could only regret not speaking sooner.
However, there was one thing they did not intend to miss out on.
That was Lin Yang’s fishing spot. The moment he left, they were determined to seize this divine spot!
Lin Yang had no idea that as soon as he left, the other fishermen would be fighting over the spot in such a frenzy.
Thanks to the persuasion from that uncle earlier, everyone finally made concessions.
They all brought their fishing rods over to fish in that same spot, leaving it to luck who would catch the next fish.
If Lin Yang knew, he would certainly be scared by these fanatical fishermen, as the spot he casually chose became a hotly contested one.
These anglers also never imagined they would stoop to competing for a fishing spot.
On the way home, Lin Yang shared the money from selling the fish with Li Xiaopeng.
After all, they had used his cousin’s drone for the live broadcast, and they rode in his vehicle. However, the two promised huazis (a type of fish) were no longer available for him.
This fishing experience made Lin Yang realize the benefits of having a car. His little electric scooter wouldn’t be able to carry much, so it was time for him to buy a car.
Moreover, he had another task to do, which was to set up a small workshop for more convenient bait filling.
Messing around in the yard wasn’t a long-term solution, especially in case of wind or rain, with nowhere to take shelter.
He hadn’t thought it important before, but now that he did, he realized there were plenty of tasks for him to undertake.
.....
By the time the brothers got home, it was nearly twelve o’clock.
As soon as the car was parked and Lin Yang got the fishing gear out, he saw the bustling figures of his mother, aunt, and Xiao Han in the courtyard.
The big Gaya caught the night before had already been gutted and laid on the stone platform by the well.
"Oh, you two are back."
His mother, who was washing vegetables, looked at the two figures entering and said.
"Hehe, we’ve got guests at home today, so of course we came back a bit earlier," Lin Yang said as he took out the big Whites he brought back.
"Mom, you can take these two as well and process them."
"Wow, such big fish, Cousin, did you catch these?" Xiao Han, who was nearby, exclaimed in surprise at the two big Whites Lin Yang was holding.
Li Xiaopeng, who had just stepped into the courtyard, heard his sister’s words and muttered, "Why don’t you ask if it was me who caught them?"
The little girl, despite her disdain, glanced at him and rolled her eyes, "As if, you?"
Her look and tone were filled with scorn, clearly unimpressed by her brother’s claim.
"All right, you two brothers go in and move the table out of the room; we are going to have lunch in the yard since it’s a bit crowded to sit in the main room with so many people," Mom said.
Old Lin, who had just come out of his room, took over the conversation: "The main room is a bit of a mess. I’ve been meaning to clean it up. In a few days, I’ll find some time to tidy up the house thoroughly, including applying a fresh coat of Big White to the second floor. That way, we’ll have a more spacious place for guests to stay, right?"
Mom shot Old Lin a glance, "Oh, you think of it now. I told you to do it a long time ago and you didn’t do it. Now you see the mess? If your son gets married soon, we’ll have even less space to sit."
Lin Yang, standing by, was somewhat speechless—when had he ever said he was going to marry that quickly?
Old Lin laughed sheepishly upon hearing Mom’s words: "I’ve been busy, haven’t I? I haven’t had the time."
"Busy, you’re busy doing nothing. Ah, every time you come back and pass by the fourth brother’s house, you have plenty of time to chat with his wife, don’t you?"
Upon hearing this, Old Lin’s face flushed reddish instantly as he quickly said, "I didn’t! Don’t talk nonsense. We’re all fellow villagers, can’t I even say hello when I pass by?"
At this point, Lin Yang couldn’t help but laugh. His dad had always been humble and had been under Mom’s thumb his whole life.
Looking at the two-story house, Lin Yang also couldn’t help but feel how quickly time had passed.
This house was built when he was in junior high, and now more than ten years had passed.
The house might be made of red bricks, but old is old; the plaster on the front wall was starting to come off.
....
After another half hour of busyness, lunch began.
At the dining table, Old Lin smacked his lips and took a sip of the white liquor in front of him, asking, "Right, son, I’m planning to empty out a room on the ground floor to set up the bait mixture. What do you think?"
Lin Yang replied, "That’s fine. I was thinking the same thing. I’ll buy a small filling machine online in the next few days, which will make things much more convenient."
"It’s also best to leave another room empty to use as a warehouse, for storing various ingredients and bottles... then we can even hire a couple of workers."
The bait mixture orders have been steady these past couple of days, not exploding in growth, and there are still several thousand bottles in stock, enough to sell for a few more days.
My aunt’s family knew about his bait mixture business and were giving suggestions from time to time.
Mom listened to the father and son’s discussion and rolled her eyes while curling her lips, not joining in. In her eyes, these two were now considered show-offs, and the son was even outdoing the father.
By the time lunch was finished, it was past two in the afternoon, and my aunt’s family had no plans to stay for dinner. They said goodbye and drove home.
As usual, Mom started cleaning, washing dishes, and tidying up.
Lin Yang and Old Lin changed into old clothes and started to clean out the two storerooms on the ground floor that were not usually used for living.
It took them an entire afternoon to finish cleaning.
....
The next morning, bright and early, Lin Yang took his fishing gear and headed to Qingshui River.
Because of his sensational catches the previous night and yesterday morning, this place had become a popular fishing spot on the internet.
Even though he had left home at just past seven in the morning, some of the better fishing spots were already taken.
However, Lin Yang didn’t mind; after all, his main purpose today was to test out his new drone.
He had packed the drone with a bit of effort when coming here, as his fishing gear was already plentiful, and with the large box containing the drone, it was even less convenient.
It seemed that buying a car would have to be prioritized sooner rather than later.
The banks of Qingshui River were no longer overgrown with weeds and difficult to find a spot as before.
After several days of heavy fishing by many anglers, a bare path had been trodden along the banks.
Finding a spot that was relatively spacious, Lin Yang set up his fishing chair and clamped his phone holder onto the chair in front of him, officially starting the live broadcast.
The drone quickly ascended, heading above the river in front of him, and aerial views appeared on the phone.
As the broadcast began, those who had added Lin Yang’s live room to their special watch list poured into the session immediately.
"Securing front-row seats."
"New fan reporting in, just for the high-tech live broadcast."
"I’ve been waiting almost a day, finally the host has started broadcasting."
Lin Yang looked up and waved at the drone above: "Hello, good morning, everyone. Welcome to all the friends who have come in."
While speaking, he also controlled the drone to dive close to the water’s surface at high speed, zooming in for a close-up on himself.
"What the heck just happened? Felt like riding a roller coaster."
"Please don’t turn on 4K HD, I just peed myself."
"Newbie here asking weakly, has the host always been this cheeky?"
Lin Yang glanced at the atmosphere in the live room, knowing that future live broadcasting with the drone was locked in.
He chatted with the viewers in the live room while preparing his bait as usual: still single baiting with Blue Carp, using a 1:0.9 ratio of bait to water.
Of course, before starting to fish, he spread a handful of Crucian Carp formula bait to create a feeding spot.\
As it was in the south, the weather was getting warmer and the fish were biting better than before.
The feeding spot had just been cast and within ten minutes, sporadic bubbles began to surface.
Seeing this, Lin Yang began fishing by casting his line with bait.
For him now, catching these little crucian carps was as easy as Zhang Fei eating bean sprouts—a piece of cake.
In less than half an hour, he already had three to four pounds of Big Plate Crucian Carp in the keepnet.
The veterans in the live room were no longer surprised at Lin Yang’s quick catch rate, but the newcomers who had just followed or were attracted by the drone broadcast were all sending out exclamations of amazement.
