Chapter 279: Chapter 165: Fish Pond Grand Opening_3

"Ha ha, no worries, no worries!"

Although Lin Yang didn’t expect the big fish pond to make him a lot of money, it was Old Lin’s first time being a serious business owner.

Lin Yang lit a cigarette for his dad, then took out his phone, quickly shot a short video, edited it, and uploaded it.

He had assumed opening a fishing ground would be straightforward, and had been fishing elsewhere, not giving the matter much thought, which led to the present situation.

There was no choice but to take it one step at a time, first stabilizing his dad, especially with so many villagers watching.

Last night, when Old Lin told him the pond was opening today, Lin Yang had sent a message in the group, and similarly, Yang Xincheng had shared the opening news in several groups.

Perhaps because it was still early, not many people had arrived yet.

While they were waiting, a new Passat rolled up on the gravel path by the pond and stopped on a lawn at the entrance; two people got out of the car.

One was a dark-skinned middle-aged man, just over thirty, dressed in sports apparel emblazoned with large logos. Lin Yang didn’t recognize him, and Old Lin and Yang Xincheng seemed not to know him either.

Actually, this man was Tang Chuanbin, from the next village. He had previously leased the fish pond, but it had fallen through. His companion, a shorter young man, was from Qingshan Town next door.

Neither of them had a good reputation locally. Recognizing the two, several villagers who had been chatting turned away as if they hadn’t seen them arrive.

Unaware, Lin Yang greeted them with a smile, as it was his family’s business’s opening day, and any visitor was a guest.

"Ha ha, are you two here to fish?" He offered them cigarettes as he spoke.

They took the cigarettes Lin Yang offered, nodding without a word, then walked towards Old Lin.

"So you’re the current owner of this fish pond, right? We’ve heard early on about your opening today. We came over early to support you, congratulations!"

After hearing a few villagers’ introductions, Old Lin learned of the man’s identity. Though he wasn’t pleased, he didn’t show it and greeted him with a smile.

"Well, you’re open for business, but why so few people inside? I’ve always said the feng shui here is no good, it’s bound to lose money," Tang Chuanbin said with a look inside, chuckling.

Before Old Lin could respond, Tang Chuanbin went on, "Don’t worry, today I’m here to patronize your business." Then he went back to his car, took a set of fishing equipment from the trunk.

"By the way, boss, how much is the fee now?"

Yang Xincheng stepped forward and answered, "We’ve restocked the fish three times this month, totaling 100,000 pounds, plus the pond’s native fish. Today’s opening day is half-price, just 400."

Tang Chuanbin’s expression stiffened at the price, he paused in his tracks but quickly recovered, "Ha ha, the Big fish pond, huh? The one I used to go to in the city starts with four-digit entrance fees."

He pulled out four old-man-faced bills from the bag under his arm and handed them over, his mouth twitching.

Yang Xincheng took the money and ushered him in; anyone who paid was a guest.

"By the way, brother, I should let you know, as we just opened today, there aren’t many rules. You can choose any fishing spot, and you can decide whether to take the fish you catch or release them."

"Ha ha, I get it, I get it!" He walked inside without looking back, followed by his sidekick.

Just then, another car arrived. Lin Yang looked over and saw it was a business partner—Wang Jian Country.

Why was he a partner? Because many of the fish in Lin Yang’s pond were supplied by Wang Jian Country’s farm.

And Wang Jian Country was a celebrity in the nearby towns and even in Jiangdong City. His Dongyang Fishing Ground was growing, offering both regular and monster-sized fish ponds, and they bred fish seedlings as well.

But, like Lin Yang’s hundred-acre Big fish pond, he had none yet.

Such large ponds were rare in Jiangdong City, and the Big fish pond was unique for having many types of fish, including some native ones.

Though the Big fish pond had once housed a legendary giant Black fish, it had other large fish the Black fish couldn’t prey on.

Wang Jian Country got out of his car and greeted Lin Yang enthusiastically from a distance, and Lin Yang smiled and went to meet him.

"Xiao Yang, you’ve set up this pond pretty quickly; it’s only been a month, and you’ve got it all sorted out."

"Ha ha, that’s mostly thanks to my uncle and my dad. I didn’t do much..."

"I’ve already posted a message for you in the group about your opening today. I expect quite a few fishing enthusiasts will be happy to come over and play."

"Thank you for that," Lin Yang sincerely expressed his gratitude.

"It’s a small gesture. Remember, we agreed, whenever I come to fish here in the future, I get an 80% discount."

Lin Yang laughed, "Of course, a perpetual 80% discount for you whenever you come."

Business had to follow the rules, and even familiar faces couldn’t expect special treatment. After signaling Old Lin to take the payment, he showed Wang Jian Country to a fishing spot, and the two exchanged ideas about running a fishing ground.
