Chapter 134: Chapter 124: Fishing in the Cave
The next morning, Lin Yang was awakened by the urge to pee.
Getting up, he noticed the space beside him was empty, and as he unzipped the two-person tent, the aroma of rice porridge wafted in.
Yue’er was hunched over the small stove, incessantly stirring with a spoon in the small pot, the fragrance emanating from there.
Seeing Lin Yang emerge, Yue’er smiled slightly, "Brother Yang, you’re awake. Go freshen up; the porridge will be ready soon."
Lin Yang, sniffing the fragrant rice porridge, gave her a thumbs up. Even such simple rice could be cooked to have such a unique aroma, comparing their culinary skills was like comparing their fishing skills in reverse.
He picked up his simple toiletries and headed to a cliff next to the tent.
Lin Yang had looked up information before coming here; Mingyue Mountain is a national 5A-level natural scenic area, and all the mountain springs here are drinkable and rich in various minerals and trace elements.
So, there was no need for them to bring any water when climbing Mingyue Mountain, as it was readily available.
After breakfast, the two began to pack up their camping gear, preparing for the return trip.
However, their descent wouldn’t be along the same mountain path they had come up by, but a different one that allowed for sightseeing on the way down.
It was rare to get out and about like this, and of course, they couldn’t just focus on hurrying on the journey, something they had discussed the previous night.
There were many attractions on Mingyue Mountain, such as Star Moon Cave, Moon Lake, Yun Gu Waterfall, Qingyun Walkway, and so on...
Lin Yang and Yue’er planned to visit Star Moon Cave first.
Since Star Moon Cave is located at an altitude of about 1500 meters, and they were currently at around 1700 meters, it would take less than half an hour to get there.
Pulling out his phone and turning on the navigation, Lin Yang led Yue’er towards Star Moon Cave following the directions displayed.
The sun had just risen, its light filtering through the dense forest and onto the jungle path, casting a leisurely and tranquil atmosphere.
Breathing in the fresh morning air of the mountains and occasionally hearing the chirping of insects and birds was an experience one could never have in a big city.
Lin Yang and Yue’er tacitly refrained from hurrying and slowly walked down the mountain while appreciating the beautiful scenery.
Yue’er even hung her phone around her neck, her camera making continuous clicking sounds along the way.
A section of the mountain path that was supposed to take only about thirty minutes stretched to almost an hour before they reached Star Moon Cave.
Star Moon Cave, extending for 500 meters, was a natural stone cave with a climate that was warm in winter and cool in summer, and ever-spring-like. A stone pathway ran through it, flanked by trickling streams.
Upon reaching the cave entrance, Lin Yang even took out the headlamp he had prepared beforehand, which was originally meant for use at night but ended up being used now.
"Yue’er, you go ahead, so you won’t be scared," Lin Yang said to her at the cave entrance.
The one who walks ahead always feels more secure when two people are walking in the dark.
Yue’er nodded and took the lead, with Lin Yang following right behind.
Once inside the cave, the temperature cooled, a difference that would be especially noticeable at noon in summer between the cave entrance and its interior.
The cave pathway was paved with bluestone and accompanied by an interior stream, with various echoes resounding inside.
As they ventured deeper, the light inside gradually dimmed.
Lin Yang spent most of his time walking with his head down so that Yue’er in front could see the path clearly underfoot.
His 30-watt LED focused-beam headlamp, fitted with a lens at the light source, illuminated the path ahead brilliantly upon activation.
However, the path inside was twisty, requiring them to take turns every few steps.
After several minutes of continuous walking and a few bends, they came to a relatively spacious area.
"Brother Yang, let’s look around here for a while," Yue’er suggested, as Star Moon Cave was an attraction of Mingyue Mountain, and they had come to visit, not to rush through.
Lin Yang nodded, shifted the focused beam to a wide spread, and started surveying the interior of the cave.
This section looked like a small hall, with a ceiling four to five meters above and a large stone platform in front, much greater than the narrow paths they had encountered upon entering.
But looking at the water surface beside them, Lin Yang wasn’t very satisfied.
The stream beside them was less than two meters wide and shallow, so the sandy and stony riverbed was clearly visible under the scattering light of his headlamp. The incredibly clear waters surprisingly lacked even a single small fish.
However, this made sense; without sunlight, there would be no algae in the water, and without food, fish would find it hard to survive.
"Let’s keep moving forward; there is still a long way ahead," Lin Yang said, having quickly assessed there was nothing of interest here.
"Sure," Yue’er nodded in agreement, finding it mediocre.
They walked for another minute or so,
and after rounding a bend, they were suddenly struck by the openness of the path ahead.
Looking around, Lin Yang and Yue’er were both stunned.
If the previous platform could be described as a small hall, this was like a massive auditorium, not only featuring a spacious stone platform but also filled with all sorts of oddly shaped boulders.
Some lay down, others stood erect, and a few even hung down from the high ceiling like inverted bamboo shoots.
The surfaces of these boulders were exceptionally smooth, reflecting bright lights in all directions when Lin Yang’s headlamp shone upon them.
