After the onlookers at the scene dispersed, the livestream room was still bustling with five or six thousand viewers engaging in heated discussions.

Even though there were still quite a few viewers in the livestream room, Lin Yang didn’t plan to continue broadcasting and, after a quick greeting, he went offline.

Seeing Lin Yang end the stream, Li Xiaopeng thought he was ready to leave and started packing up.

Catching such a once-in-decades big eel was only possible because Qinglong Lake Reservoir had opened its gates a few days earlier, leading it right to the outlet.

If it were any other time, you wouldn’t even know where to find such a behemoth in such a vast reservoir as Qinglong Lake, let alone catch it.

After resting a bit more, the two of them started to prepare to load their gear back into the car.

When they picked up the fish keeper, it made a whole lot of splashing noises, reminding Lin Yang that there was still a big one inside – the meter-long gu fish he’d caught earlier.

But after catching the enormous pike later on, these little guys were temporarily forgotten, a typical case of overlooking the small when faced with something much larger.

However, a meter-long gu is also quite a rare big catch. But since it is difficult to keep, it had to be either sold or frozen in the refrigerator.

There were already a lot of things in his home’s freezer, clearly not enough space for everything. So other than the meter-long gu, he decided to give all the rest to his cousin, Li Xiaopeng.

Lin Yang was once again shocked by the sight on the reservoir’s banks. Crowds of people filled the area next to the sluice, each one wielding a large fishing rod and swinging it over the water’s surface.

It was five in the afternoon by the time he got back to Yangkeng Village.

He touched his head, feeling that something was off. Why was his mom so attentive today?

Just then, Old Lin emerged from another room on the first floor, "Alright, son. Your mom and I watched your livestream of fishing for the big fish at the reservoir this noon. There are still a lot of videos about you on Douyin...."

Upon hearing his words, his mom muttered a few curses under her breath in the kitchen about him being a wastrel.

Lin Yang didn’t bother with all that; after placing his things properly, he went to the living room to rest for a while.

Upon entering the living room, he discovered that Yue’er was still at his home, busy labeling packages in another room.

"Brother Yang, you’re back." Yue’er greeted him with a smile when she saw Lin Yang come in.

"Yeah."

Lin Yang nodded and then said, "You’re still here so late, you don’t need to do this kind of work."

As his assistant, Yue’er’s main tasks involved video editing, customer service, and order tracking. Matters regarding the rice wine products were always handled by his parents.

"It’s okay, there isn’t much for me to do if I go back so early, so I figured I’d help out with other things."

Hearing her say that, Lin Yang thought that he should really hire a couple of workers to help his parents. With the increasing number of orders for rice wine, the old couple would definitely be overwhelmed. Though they always said there was no need to hire anyone, he didn’t want them to work that hard.

Moreover, there were some aunties in the village who didn’t have much to do. Hiring a couple wouldn’t cost much.

Having made up his mind, Lin Yang said, "Yue’er, stop that work for now, come here, I’ve got something else for you to do."

"What is it, Brother Yang?"

"First, help me edit today’s video," Lin Yang instructed.

"But I didn’t bring my computer with me today."

"No problem, I have one in my room."

Having said that, Lin Yang led her to his room. Of course, nothing else happened, it was purely about teaching her how to edit videos.

While editing the video, Yue’er curiously asked as she watched the live broadcast recording.

"Sure, I’ll take you tomorrow. It’s a good thing you’re finishing up the video now; you’ll be free tomorrow."

"Great," Yue’er nodded, visibly pleased.

It took over an hour to finish editing the afternoon’s video, and by the time it was done, mom had just finished making dinner.

Since Yue’er hadn’t gone back yet, naturally, she stayed to eat with us—the more, the merrier.

Plus, I could tell that my mom really liked Yue’er, treating her as if she were her own daughter-in-law.

Dinner was a hearty affair, with dad and me enjoying a few drinks, while mom praised Yue’er for her beauty, wisdom, and sensibility. She even said how wonderful it would be to have a daughter-in-law like her, which made Yue’er blush.

Overall, the dinner was very harmonious and joyful. During the meal, I told dad to hire a couple of reliable aunties from the village to help out at home starting tomorrow.

I also told the old folks about the big sale of my fish today, advising them not to be so frugal because good health is what matters most.

Old Lin agreed after hearing about it since his son was now a truly capable person, not like before.

After dinner, with the sky turning dark, Lin Yang escorted Yue’er home.

The next day, since I had promised to teach Yue’er how to fish, I still got up early.

When I left the house, I also brought an extra fishing rod.

Driving to Yue’er’s house, she was already waiting under a big tree, eager and ready.

"Here, take your fishing gear," Lin Yang said, handing her a 3.6-meter fishing rod setup with line and a float after they got out of the car.

Yue’er took the gear, excited yet nervous to be fishing with Lin Yang soon.

Seeing Lin Yang take a whole pack of gear out of the car and looking at her simple setup, she said, "That’s quite a lot of stuff you’ve got there... mine seems a bit basic, doesn’t it..."

Lin Yang chuckled, "Once you’ve learned how to fish, I’ll get you more gear."

"Let’s go find a spot to fish," he said, shouldering the gear and heading toward the riverbank with his mobile phone tripod for live streaming, as Yue’er followed closely.

At the water’s edge, anglers who recognized him turned around and greeted him enthusiastically.

"Wow, Master Lin, am I seeing correctly? You’re fishing here today?"

"Good morning, Master Lin. Not going after the big game at Qinglong Lake Reservoir today, then?"

Lin Yang smiled and nodded in response, and then he and Yue’er settled on a clean spot to fish from.

At that moment, a fellow angler nearby excitedly said, "Hey! Buddy, we meet again. I didn’t expect you to be so amazing. I saw you on Douyin yesterday..."

Lin Yang turned to look; it was the man he had met a few days ago while fishing for Gu fish there. It turned out the guy was still fishing in the same spot two days later.

After they’d settled down, Yue’er looked up to him with admiration and said, "Brother Yang, you really are popular."

Just showing up at a place and being recognized by so many people, and all calling him Master, Lin Yang had certainly become quite the local celebrity.

Lin Yang simply smiled, not letting it go to his head, "It’s just a little bit of fame."

After setting up the phone tripod, he asked Yue’er, "Is it okay to do the live stream with me?"

Yue’er patted her chest and assured him, "No problem at all. As long as I don’t look at what those people are typing, I won’t get nervous."
