The Time-Limited Love and Marriage -
Chapter 214
Chapter 214: Chapter 214
Jiang Moxi checked the latest information from Scavenger Jing Yan: "The Boss has sent a Hunter over here."
"The Boss," refers to Xuanming, the spiritual leader of the Xuanming Mercenary Corps.
A Hunter is an assassin in the Corps especially skilled at capturing targets.
Jiang Moxi thought for a moment and then sent a message to Jing Yan: "Is there a new mission?"
Jing Yan quickly replied: "Probably, get ready."
Jiang Moxi’s hand holding the phone visibly tightened.
In truth, diving into gunfights and risking life for missions had been her usual way of life before.
But lately, she seemed to have gotten used to this peaceful life and genuinely wanted to continue living this way.
Was it because she had lived in comfort for too long and started finding it difficult to adapt to these perilous days?
Or was it the presence of Fu Youhan that made her start to cherish the beauty of life more?
As Jiang Moxi was lost in thought, a female voice suddenly interrupted: "May I sit here?"
Jiang Moxi turned around and saw a girl with a pleasant face and black-framed glasses.
Seeing Jiang Moxi sizing her up, she introduced herself: "My name is Kou Fei, I got in through testing."
Jiang Moxi thought, the way Kou Fei emphasized "testing" probably meant she felt they were similar, both not wearing luxurious custom clothes, quite unlike the typical wealthy young ladies.
"I am Jiang Moxi."
After introducing herself, Jiang Moxi started browsing through foreign language original books, as her main reason here wasn’t to make friends.
But Kou Fei seemed determined to befriend Jiang Moxi, further asking, "Did you hear about the Justice Hacker who infiltrated the students, the one who made waves online?"
"I haven’t heard about that," Jiang Moxi replied coldly, showing no sign of surprise.
Kou Fei then muttered, "I’m really curious, what does the Justice Hacker intend to do here?"
"Who knows? Probably just bored," Jiang Moxi conversed with Kou Fei in a disinterested manner, when Xiao Zhi walked in to start their class.
The curriculum was filled with programming and such, incredibly tedious.
Many wealthy heirs and heiresses, disinterested and lethargic, soon rested their heads on the desks and fell fast asleep.
Jiang Weiwei, however, was extremely attentive, and promptly asked the other students who had passed the test by themselves whenever she had questions.
She knew better than anyone that making good use of this learning opportunity could completely alter her destiny.
At the end of the class, Xiao Zhi assigned a software design task: "Complete the design and load the software onto a USB drive; tomorrow’s lesson will include awarding extra points to the top performers."
Upon hearing about bonus points, Jiang Weiwei became eager.
These points would be included in the final assessment scores, critical for becoming an official member of the National Security Department.
She must seize every opportunity to score points to ensure her chance at becoming an official member.
Thus, Jiang Weiwei earnestly asked Xiao Zhi some questions in the classroom after the class.
Jiang Moxi, on the other hand, just grabbed her backpack and left as soon as class ended.
Yet before she could leave the classroom, she was stopped by Si Lin.
His dark eyes unwavering, he stared at Jiang Moxi’s fingers: "What happened to your hand?"
As the supervisor, it was natural for Si Lin to come and inspect during Xiao Zhi’s classes.
But noticing that Jiang Moxi’s fingers were wrapped with gauze, he chose to stay in the classroom.
"I burned it," Jiang Moxi said.
"Did your heartless biological parents give you a hard time again? Making you chop wood and cook?"
Si Lin’s impression of Jiang Guosheng and Yu Man from yesterday was so striking that upon seeing Jiang Moxi’s injured fingers, he automatically associated them as the perpetrators.
"No, it has nothing to do with them." Jiang Moxi didn’t want to talk much about her injury.
Because once they started, it would remind her of how yesterday Fu Youhan used the excuse that her fingers shouldn’t touch water and took liberties with her in the bathroom.
However, Jiang Moxi didn’t know that the more she avoided talking about it, the more Si Lin felt that it was her parents, who were even worse than beasts, who were behind it.
"Just marry me and break off relations with them," he suggested.
Once these words were out, even Si Lin himself found it unbelievable.
He actually wanted to marry Jiang Moxi?
No!
Probably not.
He imagined he only suggested it because he disliked seeing Jiang Moxi being bullied at home.
How could he possibly have feelings for a bad woman like Jiang Moxi? Even to the point of wanting to marry her?
Like Si Lin, Jiang Moxi didn’t take his marriage proposal to heart; she even planned to walk past Si Lin and leave.
But then, Si Lin grabbed her, quickly explaining, "I was just joking."
After explaining, as if afraid that Jiang Moxi wouldn’t believe him, he added, "Let me change your dressing; your hand looks like it definitely hasn’t been treated today."
This time, Jiang Moxi didn’t refuse Si Lin’s kind offer and followed him to his temporary office.
From the corner of her eyes, Jiang Weiwei caught sight of Jiang Moxi and Si Lin leaving together, her eyes filled with dark chilling intent.
Had Jiang Moxi and Si Lin progressed to the point where he could help her change her dressing?
She must speed things up!

In the temporary office, Si Lin took out a medical kit.
"Are you sure you really know how to do this?"
Watching Si Lin pull out an antiseptic swab, thinking about his frivolous demeanor, Jiang Moxi suddenly worried about her finger.
"If I mess up, I’ll compensate you with my finger."
Si Lin spoke with his usual careless tone.
As he spoke, he grabbed Jiang Moxi’s hand and began to untie the knot on the bandage...
Once the treatment was done, as Si Lin began to pack up the medical kit, Jiang Moxi couldn’t help but admire, "Appearances can be deceiving, and the sea’s depth unfathomable."
Who would have thought that Si Lin, with all his dandyish airs, could handle wound treatment so gently?
During the entire process, Jiang Moxi hadn’t felt even a bit of pain.
"Do I really look like I can’t do anything right in your eyes?"
Si Lin suddenly stopped his actions, staring intently at Jiang Moxi.
His deep European-style eyes seemed mysteriously to carry a touch of desolation.
Jiang Moxi was taken aback, thinking she might have hurt Si Lin’s feelings.
"Not really... You just don’t look like you’d be good at treating wounds," she chose her words carefully before speaking.
But Si Lin quickly resumed his playful, flirtatious smile, getting close to Jiang Moxi’s ear.
"I’m good at many things, do you want to try?"
Jiang Moxi felt his hot breath on her ear and quickly pressed a palm against his face.
"Get lost!"
"Cheeky!" Si Lin casually picked up the medical kit and got up, as if all that had just happened was a prank during his idle moments.
But only he knew that while treating Jiang Moxi’s wounds just now, his palms were sweaty...
