The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 356: Epilogue

Chapter 356: Epilogue

"Did you send him off?" Amelia asked, watching Killian return to her, sighing in relief now that Silas was gone.

"We need to help him find a way to spend his time so he doesn’t come looking for us when he is bored," Killian said, raking his hand through his hair as he walked to where Amelia sat. "Aydan and Lamia don’t stick to us that much and they are the youngest."

"I don’t mind that Silas still likes to stick around us. He spends so much time in the underworld with Lucifer, learning to be whatever you were to Lucifer. You should be kind to him since Lucifer doesn’t call on you much these days. I get to have you all to myself," Amelia said to cheer up Killian.

"They are all asleep in their castles or in the underworld right now," Killian said, sitting down beside Amelia to enjoy the peace in their home.

"You were the one to want many children and now look at you always wanting them gone. We need to fly up the north to see Kila tomorrow before we leave for our travels," Amelia said since they promised to give her a proper goodbye before leaving for weeks. The others were already told goodbye.

After Mara became queen of what was formerly known as the Blackwell castle and Kila took over the north a year later, Amelia was no longer queen of either land and settled with Killian near the old border.

Their home had the perfect view of humans, who were once scared to visit the north in the past, making their way up the mountain to do business or start a new life. Humans and demons had come far since the merge when she and Killian took over the Blackwell kingdom.

There were still a few groups against humans living with demons on both sides and attacks that had to be stopped, but there were more people for it than against it. Amelia could live with that for now since there was nothing she could do to convince humans or demons to get along with each other. She didn’t expect everyone would be friendly with each other in the past.

"Where do you want to go first?" Killian asked. He was ready to show Amelia the world far beyond the two kingdoms.

They took small trips with the children to neighbouring lands, but never went too far away as they had a kingdom to look after. Now that Amelia and Killian did not need to worry about ruling a kingdom, they were free to travel as much as they wanted and go as far as they liked.

"I want to visit all the places you have gone to in the past. I wish to see what captured your interest and helped you to take a liking to humans. Are there any old friends you might have whether human or not that might be alive?" Amelia asked, hoping she could see at least one.

When it came to friends for Killian, she was only used to Alastor, Lilith, and Lucifer. Two of those people she didn’t know if she could consider Killian’s friends since he was never happy to see them.

"A few of them should still be alive though they would be really old. I stopped travelling for a few years before I married you. A few of those people knew what I was and kept the secret all their lives. It wouldn’t have mattered if they told anyone since they would have been seen as crazy. I will take you to see the sea first," Killian said, holding Amelia’s hand to feel her warmth.

She spoke of wanting to see the sea after hearing the tales about it from demons who travelled the seas and then she was interested in a shell Killian collected.

"That sounds like a good start. The children will be sad that they cannot join us to see the sea. Let us keep it a secret from them and then bring back a lot of shells. I want to take one thing from where we have visited to start a collection as you have. The world is forever changing. I wonder what new things there are now that you have never seen," said Amelia.

She was happy to have made the choice to become a demon so she could see how the world changed. She had not reached forty yet, but there were many to die long before then and not see the world as it was now.

She had the opportunity to watch her children and the kingdom grow together. The Bune castles changed as new inventions to make life easier were made by people inside and outside of the kingdom.

"Have you heard Mara speaking of having someone she wishes to marry and take as-"

"It is too soon," Killian replied, having the same thought as when he first heard it.

Not just anyone should be able to marry his daughter, or take the Bune name since there was no way in this world he would allow for their names to change, and then that man would become king. The father of his grandchildren.

Amelia could not believe Killian would consider this soon when Mara had been courted by the man for over five months and it was someone Mara occasionally saw in her youth since his father worked in the court.

Amelia liked that it was someone she had seen before to know what type of person he was so she might guess what his intentions were. Since Killian wasn’t open to the idea of Mara falling in love and getting married, it was best not to tell him about Kila and the man courting her. It was their fault for having beautiful daughters to always have attention on them wherever they went.

Amelia leaned close to Killian, enjoying him being angry that two of his daughters were old enough to marry. This was just the beginning since they had two younger daughters who would go through this too.

"How are you to continue your line of the demon you are if you are against our daughters marrying and starting their families? I didn’t know anything about the king of the north aside from the tales told by guards as they walked by me. Yet I got married to you in a week and look how we turned out. Eighteen years later, five children and ten hellhounds occasionally come into our home," Amelia said.

Amelia stood up to let out her wings. They were smaller in comparison to Killian’s and the children, but they had the same bat-like look. "How about we leave right now and send the children a letter? Our bags are already packed for us- What are you doing?" Amelia asked since he got up and walked away in a hurry without telling her that he was leaving at first.

"Getting our bags," Killian replied. "There is a place we can spend the night if we leave now. You won’t tire yourself out during the flight there so there is no excuse for what will happen when we are truly alone."

Killian loved his children, but they had the worst timing which helped to prevent them from getting another sibling.

Amelia shook her head at Killian, motivated by the fact they could have uninterrupted moments to do things they could not when Aydan and Lamia were here instead of in the castles with their siblings, in the underworld, or with their grandmother.

Amelia turned her attention back to the border to see the people crossing over. The kingdom would be in good hands while she was away for humans and demons to continue to coexist and for the kingdom to flourish as she wanted in the past.

If only there was a way to go back to the younger her who was frustrated over not getting the support to give her a chance to do something with this kingdom.

To give a little hope that there was something wonderful awaiting her in the future. More than getting the throne and fixing her father’s mistakes. To know that a family she wouldn’t change for anything someone could offer her awaited her in the future.

"I can hear you adding something to a bag," she said, leaving her balcony to check on what her husband was up to. "Have you forgotten that I can hear everything, you sly demon?"
