The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 337
Chapter 337: Chapter 337
"You’re a sorry excuse for a husband and a father. I only wished that I had enjoyed killing you a bit more. That I had more time to torture you as the poison did its work."
"Had I known the north was taking over the castle, I would have stayed in your room a bit more. Seeing you before me now is a blessing. I hope that your body is filled with anger to see that I am alive and well," Amelia said.
"We can be on the same page and say that I am not your daughter. When anyone asks, I will say that I have no father. I don’t want your name attached to mine any longer now that I am a Bune. If you do not think I am your daughter, why should I claim it? I hope that you and grandmother end up near each other in the underworld. Yell at each other about the things you have both done."
"My mother did not kill Anne. She had no involvement in it," Richard said, still not believing Amelia. "My mother was on your side and tried to get me to investigate, but I told her it was a mere cold that took Anne’s life. She had no reason to kill the queen. She respected Anne since she was a good queen to the kingdom."
"Of course, she would urge you to find the culprit whilst she pretended to be on Amelia’s side. Your mother had a good hold over the castle to cover her tracks. You two were never going to find her even if you worked together. The priests had many secrets and they did well to hide my death," Anne said, looking down at her pathetic former husband.
"This is your former wife, Anne Blackwell," Amelia introduced her mother.
Richard stared at the woman beside Amelia who did not look like Anne in the slightest bit. "You are playing tricks on me-"
"You are still as slow as I remembered you to be, Richard. For a man to claim who loved me so much, you couldn’t find it in your heart to protect my daughter. The one thing I treasured most in this castle. Your mother had many secrets. Secrets about the people in the north being demons. The only thing me and that old woman could agree on was the fact my daughter should one day be queen."
Anne had little knowledge about the priests since her mothers didn’t think she would ever end up near them and even if she did, it wasn’t like she practised spells for her body to show signs of a witch. She spoke nothing of her family so they would not be looked into and for the priests to find out her secret, but they did in the end.
What she didn’t know about the priests, in the beginning, was the role Margaret played in the temple. The deep connection and family tie the former queen had with the temple.
"I was abandoned as a child and found by witches," Anne revealed. "The castle was not the place for me to be and I would have gladly married Leonard who treated me well and perhaps told him the truth about my family, but you disturbed that peace."
"I loved you-"
"You did not. You’ve known Leonard since you were a boy and anything he had, you wanted. I’ve heard all the stories from Leonard. Since he knew you well with how greedy you are, I always thought he made the mistake of telling you about me and not thinking you would want to take me too. You have made my life so miserable," said Anne.
The tower was nothing more than a dungeon to her. She was always guarded when she wanted to leave and then she had to listen to being called Richard’s wife or queen over and over again like the people here thought she had forgotten.
"The only light in this castle was my daughter and the fact I could build orphanages to help children like me who were abandoned. I tried to think that was my purpose so I had to endure being here with you. Perhaps my path in life had taken this turn because I needed to birth a queen and take care of children like me. I will continue to think that instead of thinking the world has something against me."
Richard tried to stand up, but the chains around him were too heavy and forced him to stay down. The small walk into the room had already done a number on his back and legs. "I really did love you, Anne. I had never loved a woman like you. Everything he described about you suited me. I tried to give you the world because of your humble beginnings."
"You are still the same even after having so much time in the underworld to think about your actions. Have you learned nothing during your time down there? Are they not torturing you enough? Is it because you are royalty that you don’t listen to what others say?" Anne asked.
She had been quite open with what she felt about Richard and the feelings he claimed to have. He did not love her and she would love for him to wake up to the truth. He was merely jealous of his friend who had no noble background.
"I never cheated on you with Leonard even though the thought crossed my mind many times. If Leonard was a man who would eagerly come to my bed, I would have let him, but he always feared what would happen if we were to be caught. What would happen to Amelia? The reason you thought he was her father was that he did your job for you. Shielding her when you did not," Anne said, letting go of Amelia’s hand to stand.
"If Amelia ever wanted something from the town, I could reach out to Leonard, and he would get it for me. When Amelia was sick and needed a doctor, I wanted to be near her, but I had to stay in my tower to avoid you. He would distract you so I could bring my child to my tower to care for her. In the end, she ended up calling him uncle."
Anne was certain that helped fuel Richard’s thoughts that Amelia thought Leonard was her father and they were all lying to him.
"Like everyone else, I am yet to understand why you would be jealous of Leonard when you still had women by your side at all hours of the day. That had nothing to do with you wanting to make me jealous so that I would realise I loved you. It was the fact you liked to show there were no rules for you as king. That you could have me trapped here and be with as many women as you wanted."
After silence fell in the room, Anne asked, "Is there a way for me to kill him again?"
"Only a few demons can get rid of the dead for good. You can’t do anything to him," Killian answered.
"What a letdown. I would have enjoyed killing him. Please be sure that he receives the worst torture the underworld has ever seen. It would make an excellent gift to welcome me as your mother-in-law. We shouldn’t waste an hour with him. He isn’t deserving of it unless you have something more to say to him," Anne said, offering her hand to help Amelia stand up.
"I have nothing more to say to a man who does not see me as his daughter," Amelia replied, taking her mother’s hand to stand. Seeing that he was suffering in the underworld was good enough for her.
’There is a way he can die," Killian spoke up. "Sometimes souls get away from their rooms and roam the underworld. Looking for a way to get out or a place to hide from Lucifer. Little do they know that we feed on souls and when they leave their rooms, they become food. Let go of a soul around demons and watch what happens. Kings have always been quite tasty."
Amelia and Anne shared a look.
"It is up to you mother," Amelia said as she had already had her time to kill her father.
Anne let go of Amelia’s hand once more and went to Killian’s side. "Won’t you get in trouble for not returning him to the underworld? Seeing him be eaten in front of me doesn’t matter if it means you will get in trouble with the devil. I already owe you so much."
"For the time that Killian and I have been married, I have gotten the feeling that he rarely listens to Lucifer. Since he brought it up, it must be okay for him to do so. Or maybe he really will get in trouble and hide it from me," Amelia said, staring at Killian to try to read his mind. "Lilith and I get along well so before we go through with this, I will ask her if it is alright."
"How dare the two of you plot on my life when I have given you lives many would accept to take in a heartbeat? Wasn’t it enough that you rid this kingdom of its king? I took in a pitiful woman who had nothing to her name and made her queen- Ah!" Richard yelled as Killian pulled on the chains around him to make them tighter.
