The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 295

Chapter 295: Chapter 295

Anne’s hand shook with anger. She wanted to do so much more to Margaret, but she could not right now with so many eyes watching. She needed to get rid of Margaret without Amelia finding out.

Margaret got over the shock of being slapped by the stranger and raised her hand to return the slap. "You! How-"

Cordelia pulled Anne away before she could be slapped. They had raised Anne by never laying a finger on her because she had always been a good child who followed their words. No one in the Blackwell castle had a right to lay a hand on her.

"So this is her," Ramona said, coming between Anne and the old woman. "You’ve got some nerve to kill my daughter."

"She’s not your daughter," Sybil muttered.

"I have not killed anyone’s daughter," Margaret said, her eyes glued to the woman who laid a hand on her. She had never seen any of these people before.

"You killed our precious daughter. Your son took her from us and trapped her here. Gave her hell each day with his promiscuous ways. The child deserved more than a few witches could offer her. Your son is lucky to be dead, but there is something to be done about you. We shall meet soon," Ramona said, having a punishment in mind for the old woman.

It was one that would keep Margaret around them for a little while and have her hate every second of it.

Margaret still did not know what they spoke of. They spoke of Richard so she started to think of the many women he brought into the castle. There were one or two that she had to get rid of since they irritated her and became pregnant. She could not have them live long enough to have a child and take Amelia’s spot.

Margaret chuckled. Today was just one big awful day. First, Amelia was siding with demons, and now, these women were angry with her because of their daughters who sold their bodies to the king. "Precious? Those girls accepted Richard’s offers to come warm his bed. They could have left at any time, but they stayed to be spoiled and in return, warm his bed. They learned that the castle is no playing ground."

"Do not compare our Anne to those filthy women. Our daughter was precious and happy until your son made the order that she must wed him. Do you think she wanted to be trapped in this place? The only reason she stayed was because of her daughter. Your son forced her to be here, and you killed her," Cordelia argued, taking a step forward to deal with the old woman now, but Anne hung onto her dress.

"You are the witches who cared for Anne?" Margaret questioned it, not believing it. The priests had hunted down the witches and she was told they had been killed.

Beth was surprised to hear that Anne was raised by witches. Creatures that the kingdom forbade anyone from speaking to. It made sense why, no matter how many times Anne was asked to bring her family to the castle, she refused to do it. To please her, Richard would not force her to do it.

"Did you know about the former queen being raised by witches, mother? Does that mean Amelia is a witch, as I said?" Fraser asked. Amelia did deserve to be burned. No Blackwell should share the blood of these wild creatures. It was no wonder she had easily accepted Killian.

"I am finding out now just like everyone else. It looks like Margaret knew about it. Of course, she did. She knows everyone’s secrets. I was right that she was the one who had something to do with Anne’s death. She was angry about something Anne did, but back then, I did not know what. No matter how this ends, it is good for us that Margaret dies," said Beth.

She had long waited for this moment for Margaret to no longer be a part of this world. Margaret deserved it for the misery she caused in other people’s lives.

"Shouldn’t we side with her? She appears to know about these creatures. She is the only one here not shaking up, and can the priests really protect us?" Fraser asked. He wanted to make a run for the temple and never look back if he could be safe there. He would hold onto his mother’s hand and take her there.

The men of the court, Margaret, and the people of this kingdom were on their own.

Margaret wanted to strangle the priests for not double-checking they had killed the witches she sent them out to find. Now they stood before her when she had no one to protect her.

"Why are you so silent now? I have watched you walk around this castle like an untouchable God, and now you stand quiet. Speak, Margaret. Amelia is not here for-"

"Amelia already knows the truth. I do not need to explain myself to the likes of you," Margaret replied, looking away from the four women. It was time for Amelia to come back and protect her.

She might have angered Amelia, but Margaret knew she could count on her beloved granddaughter to save her from these witches, who Amelia was not familiar with.

Anne grabbed a handful of her hair as she panicked. She didn’t want Amelia to know. It must have tormented her to know that the grandmother she loved was the one who had a hand in killing her mother.

Anne could not understand Margaret now that she had looked at her. How had Margaret not meddled in Amelia marrying Killian, but immediately tried to kill her when she found out about the witches? "Did you try to kill Amelia?" She asked.

Margaret remained silent. Matters concerning this castle only concerned the Blackwells.

"Answer me about my daughter. I am Anne Blackwell, you old fool. Answer me before you regret being silent," Anne said, feeling her urge to eat something start to act up. She would restrain herself when Amelia was near, but not for Margaret.

"You have broken the old woman," Ramona commented, enjoying the wide eye look from Margaret now that she saw a ghost standing before her. "You took Anne from this world before it was her time. As witches, we did everything we could to bring her back. We’ve heard the tales about you. A woman who does not hold her tongue for anyone. Now speak."

Margaret took in the appearance of the woman who slapped her. She looked nothing like Anne from her hair to her eye colour. There was no possible way this could be Anne.

"She must have lost her tongue since she is not speaking. We should just take her out of the castle and torture her. Make use of her body as we see fit," Sybil suggested. Instead of the bones of a king, she could settle for the bones of a former queen.

"I am Anne Blackwell," Anne spoke with the same grace she carried when she was the queen. "Your son came looking for me when the kingdom was covered in snow. Locked me away in my tower so that I could not run away from him. In the middle of one lonely night, you came to me and told me you would be on my side. That being a queen was hard so you would be there to help me."

"I remember clearly when you found out that I was raised by witches. I still do not know how you found out about it since I never told anyone about it nor did I visit my family. I know when you looking to kill me. You wanted to kill me long before asking me to cleanse myself. You liked that I denied your offer so you could get rid of me. As if the Blackwell blood has always been great-"

"It has been," Margaret interjected.

"It has not. My mothers have walked this land longer than you have. They remember the times when many witches walked amongst the people and demons attacked at night. The Blackwells had their fair share of being with creatures not like them. The priest did too," said Anne.

"I will not let you stand before me and speak lies about my family. The priests have never mixed with any other creature. We are pure!" Margaret exclaimed. They knew better than to be with a witch or demon. Amelia was the only exception since she was special.

Ramona interrupted Anne and Margaret’s conversation with her laughter. "I have always hated how the priests acted oblivious to their actions. One of your relatives mated with our kind and so did the Blackwells. There was a man who was a priest who fell in love with one of our sisters."

"She was a fool to love him, but she did. They had a child together and your family found out. Our sister and that man were burned while the child was never seen again. I know that child was still alive. Where do you think many of your special talents to sense when demons are near came from? It could have only been that child," said Cordelia.

"Do you really think you were blessed by the Gods to have these talents? Your ancestors mated with the very creatures they killed so they could put up a fight. Those weapons you make with holy water were not enough to help you take us down," Sybil finished.
