The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 285
Chapter 285: Chapter 285
"He has convinced you to turn into a demon. Do you realise there would be no way to turn you back? I didn’t send you to the north for you to become a demon," said Margaret.
Edith circled around Margaret to find anything suspicious. She didn’t trust the old woman and wanted her gone before she would try doing something to Amelia.
"We are not going through this again," Amelia sighed.
How many times was she supposed to explain that her grandmother pushed her into Killian’s arms? It wasn’t like she had gone to the north, looking to fall in love with Killian. Amelia honestly thought with her trust issues it would have taken much longer for her to fall in love with Killian.
Amelia thought of giving Killian a good pinch for telling her grandmother about her becoming a demon. It could have only been him to tell her grandmother about it. Most likely to anger her since he could not kill her.
Killian delivered this big news to Margaret and left Amelia to deal with it. He was lucky to not be in the room right now.
"You cannot turn to a demon. Your children will be demons if you do," Margaret warned. She wasn’t referring to Amelia having children with Killian since she would not allow that to happen. Margaret needed time to plot and once she would be successful in getting rid of Killian the second time, she needed Amelia to still be a human then.
If Margaret pulled Amelia away from Killian after Amelia was turned into a demon, all her efforts would be for nothing. Amelia would put a stop to the bloodline of the original priests. Tainting it with demon children. It was everything Margaret’s family was against and so she would have to kill Amelia’s children along with her.
"I have already thought about that part. Seeing that my husband will live for a long time and any children we have, even if I remain human would live longer than me, I want to be around for much longer. We are not finished about the priests and my mother. You kept me in the dark while I was searching for who killed my mother," Amelia said, feeling just as angry with her grandmother as she was with the priests.
Amelia doubted that Margaret did not know the priests were going to kill her mother when they found out about the witches. Who better to try convincing her mother to be cleansed than her grandmother?
Margaret knew what awaited those who rejected the cleanse. If Margaret loved Anne, she would have stopped the priest’s plans.
As much as she loved her grandmother, if it came to Killian wanting to kill Margaret, Amelia would not stop him. Amelia loved her mother more than anyone else. Margaret was a close second to Killian before all of this talk of cleansing her and the secrets about her mother.
Amelia made a pact the day her mother died that she would get rid of those who had something to do with her mother’s death. Amelia didn’t appreciate the lies Margaret told her over the years. The way Margaret would agree with her that there was something suspicious about her mother’s death over the years angered her now that she looked back on it.
Amelia had been crying on the shoulder of someone who had a hand in taking away her mother.
Now that Amelia knew just who she had to target to avenge her mother, she would get rid of all of them today. "You and all of those priests who claim to be doing good for the people, there is a special place in the underworld for all of you. I will make whatever deal I have to with the devil to make it happen-"
"You!" Margaret exclaimed, pointing a finger at Amelia in disbelief. "I have taken care of you. I have done whatever you need to help you become queen. I was the only one by your side. I have loved you and known that you were destined for something grand."
"Then you should know that I don’t like to be lied to and deceived. When you allowed those priests to kill my mother, you opened the door for our relationship to end. Thank you for being there when I was alone. I would have lost my sanity back then without one relative by my side. I always looked up to you since you were a queen who beat the odds in this castle," Amelia said, smiling as she recalled fond memories with Margaret in her head.
There was no denying that they had good memories together.
"I married Killian as you wanted. I think there is nothing I owe you, so I can end our relationship without feeling guilty. I suggest you leave and find a way to protect yourself because I will be sending demons after you and the priests who killed my mother so they could personally drag you into the underworld gates," said Amelia.
"Why not just have this one kill me right now?" Margaret asked, looking at Edith, who wanted to kill her. She felt it by how intensely the demon was watching her.
"Because there is something I want you to experience first, so you cannot die yet. I don’t need to trap you here since there is no way for you to run to escape what is coming. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all the priests turned to demons too?" Amelia asked, suddenly amused by the idea of the priest turning to what they hated.
Margaret shook her head, disappointed by how Amelia had turned out. "You are too far gone. You are not the same granddaughter I have loved. Therefore, I see no issue in cleansing you now," Margaret said, removing the cover of the bottle while it was still hidden in her sleeves.
"Amelia!" Edith yelled upon seeing Margaret take something out of her dress.
Amelia turned her face just as Margaret threw the holy water at her. It wasn’t enough to soak Amelia like what happened in the temple, but enough had gotten on Amelia’s hands when she had held them out in instinct to try to protect herself from what Margaret was throwing at her.
Her hands burned the same as they did in the temple.
Edith gritted her teeth, having had enough of the old woman’s tricks. She didn’t care if she would be punished for her actions later.
Edith took a dagger from her side, and in the blink of an eye, she was hovering over Margaret, pressing the dagger to her throat. "You filthy priest," she said as she pressed the blade of the dagger to Margaret’s throat. She already smelled the faint scent of blood. Just a bit more pressure and she would be able to end Margaret’s life.
Margaret closed her eyes, ready for the inevitable to happen. She had been waiting for her time to come to an end. She would have preferred it if it were not at the hands of a demon, but she would face death just like many of her relatives.
"Don’t," Amelia said through the pain. Killing her grandmother now would not be so satisfying when Margaret was so ready for death. Amelia wanted Margaret to be alive to see demons roaming the kingdom and searching for the priests. It was the best way to hurt her grandmother before killing her. "Don’t kill her, Edith."
"Why not?" Edith snapped, not seeing Amelia’s reason for keeping her grandmother alive. Did she want to keep having holy water thrown at her? Then there was the fact that this woman made an attempt to kill Killian. As a demon, she could not sit still when her king was attacked.
"She said don’t kill her," Killian said, peeling Edith off of Margaret. He knew how tempting it was to kill Margaret, but it was Amelia’s decision for what would happen to her family. It was his late wedding gift to her. "And here I thought all the fun was in the other parts of the castle."
Amelia was surprised to hear Killian’s voice. How did he know that she needed him here right now? She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to get over the pain of the water burning her hands.
Edith wanted to argue against their decision, but she had no place to. She just hoped that Killian and Amelia knew what they were doing, so that not killing Amelia’s grandmother would not bite them in the ass soon.
Killian stared down at Margaret, who slowly opened her eyes and looked up at him. It was truly hard to resist killing her. Her not fearing death annoyed him, but he had his ways of breaking her. Margaret thought her troubles would be over once she was dead, but she was wrong.
The priest did not go straight to the land where good souls roamed around in peace. Just like any other soul, they had to go to the underworld to be judged. Many of them never crossed over from the underworld and were still spending their days being tortured long after they died.
