Chapter 166: Chapter 166
"Is there something troubling you Amelia? Or maybe you are just nervous that you are getting married tomorrow. I cannot believe the day you are getting married is already here. I always thought you would fight tooth and nail to avoid getting married but you are getting older and it could not be held back. Amelia?" Gina questioned as there was a lack of response from Amelia.
"Yes?" Amelia answered, snapping out of her thoughts. "What were you saying?"
"I asked if you are nervous, which it is starting to seem like you are. There is nothing to be nervous about. Well, other than spending the rest of your life here," Gina muttered since north wasn’t the best place to be.
"I am not thinking about the wedding. I had enough time to mentally prepare for it. Why didn’t Cyrus come in with you?" Amelia asked. He hadn’t changed his habit of being early until now. It was suspicious considering she wanted to speak with him and Jahi.
Gina stopped buttoning up Amelia’s dress only now realizing how odd it was for Cyrus not to be here. She passed the other two guards on her way in. "The only explanation has to be that he is sick. I’ve never arrived before he did," she replied.
"I told him I wanted to speak with him and Jahi-"’
"Do you think he ran away?" Gina gasped.
"No, I think the two of them might be at odds. It’s likely he told her that I wished to speak with her. I’m wondering if I should actually send her out of the castle. If she stays she might team up with Agramon to get rid of me because she thinks I am responsible for what happened to her. If she leaves, I have no idea who she will run to," Amelia explained, feeling like she is in danger with both decisions.
"I am going to kill them," Gina muttered, accidentally pulling Amelia’s dress too tight as her anger got the best of her.
Amelia ignored the wind being knocked out of her body because of how rough Gina was for a moment and asked, "Why?"
"Because weddings are already stressful and now you have to add their problems to your worries. I feel terrible for what she had to go through but I miss the days when it was just the three of us. I never thought our group would be separated so quickly but if Jahi is going to distract Cyrus perhaps he is no longer right to be your guard," said Gina.
Gina worked hard these days to make sure she made no mistakes when it came to Amelia. She was responsible for getting anything Amelia needed while Cyrus was there to protect her. One little issue with Jahi and he was not present. The north was not a place to be fooling around with Amelia’s safety and not making Amelia a priority. Gina could not believe her time had come to scold Cyrus.
"We have a busy day, Amelia. I don’t need you thinking about Cyrus or Jahi anymore. You have to try on your wedding dress, and pick out the women you want to join me as your personal maids, and I am thinking of picking out another dress for you to wear when you are crowned queen. We brought a lot that you have not worn yet. All done," Gina said, stepping back from Amelia as she finished buttoning up the dress.
"Thank you. It looks lovely as always," Amelia complimented Gina’s work.
"By the way, should I have picked a dress to cover your neck? I mean," Gina scratched her neck feeling embarrassed from what she saw when she was helping Amelia get dressed and bathing her. "I guess if you two are like that now no one can tell it happened before the wedding. You will not be judged back home."
Amelia turned around to look at Gina after feeling confused. She touched her neck wondering what was wrong with it. "What do you mean?" She asked.
Gina licked her lips genuinely surprised Amelia did not know about the marks on her skin. "There appear to be bite marks on your neck. I assumed that you knew about them."
"What?!" Amelia exclaimed as this was news to her. She left Gina’s side to go into the bathroom to look at the large mirror. She felt Killian bit and lick her skin but she was not aware he had left a mark. "When I see Killian," she mumbled when she looked into the mirror.
"I feel like we need to talk about how much you speak of hurting your future husband. He’s not in here right? Like hiding in the darkness," Gina said whilst looking around the room she already knew was empty to make sure he wasn’t there.
Amelia was suspicious of Gina’s odd behavior of looking around for Killian when he was clearly not there. "I don’t actually intend on hurting him, Gina. I only mean to scold him for it later. He knew I had to be around a lot of people today. You can stop worrying about him hearing me say I want to kill or hurt him. That is impossible anyway," she muttered.
If she wanted to risk her life attempting to kill him, she would have done it on Blackwell. Besides, she liked Killian enough not to want him dead but he had his moments to upset her.
"Actually," Gina whispered so no one would hear her. "I wanted to ask, how was it?"
"How was what?" Amelia asked, not certain where Gina was trying to go with this.
Gina palmed her face. Amelia was normally smart but the fact she did not know what she meant right away was frustrating. "You know what I mean. Do not hold back on me after I lent you my books. How was it being with Killian? Were you okay? Is he the rough type? I hope he didn’t hurt you."
"Gina, please tell me you are not asking if Killian and I slept together because of my neck. We did not," Amelia sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. This was why she was upset with Killian for leaving the marks and then not warning her about it.
Amelia felt he did it on purpose for it to be seen and her for to be riled up to entertain him.
Gina’s shoulders dropped due to her disappointment. She thought Amelia had some juicy details to share.
"What is with your disappointment and what was with the questions about him being rough?" Amelia asked.
"Well before young women with status are married they are to be given some warnings of what will come on their wedding night. It is my job to prepare you for what you need to do. I am meant to warn you about the pain and how your husband will care more about his needs than yours. Killian is quite large of a man so I worry about you," Gina explained.
Amelia knew the tradition of her finally being told about her duties as wife on the day of her wedding but at this point, she didn’t need to be told about it. She had long found out what was expected of her on her wedding night. This grand secret kept from her was a letdown when she found out.
"Thanks to the books I took from you, I don’t need to be told about the pain and everything else. You already did your job already," Amelia said, tapping Gina’s face and ignoring the look of horror on her friend’s face.
Amelia knew Gina was thinking that if anyone found out about her giving the princess those books she would be screwed. Luckily, it was a secret Amelia would take to her grave. She wished that Killian, of all people, didn’t know about them.
