The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 122

Chapter 122: Chapter 122

There was no way in this life Fraser would ever travel to the north. He heard many stories of how the people in the north lived in homes that did not compare to the ones here in town. Then there was the cold unbearable weather. As the king, such conditions did not suit him.

"We can create a place at the border to meet but who would fund all of this? These are two good ideas so far but it will take money to implement and the people won’t like it if we take more money from them. Most of them are not on board to be at peace with the north," said Fraser. The money certainly could not come from his pockets.

Fraser had already started to make arrangements for things he wanted to be made for when he would be king. He felt the crown and throne could do with a few improvements and then he needed clothes fit for a king. The ones he wore now did not scream look at me, I am the king.

According to his mother, it wouldn’t be right for him to spend most of the royal funds on himself so he had to take this money out of his own pockets. Fraser had no intention of letting those funds be used for the north either.

Amelia knew they could not ask for the people to pay more taxes so she had a solution. "I was thinking that we could pitch in our own money and receive donations from some of the nobles on both sides. It is not like it is a new carriage we are trying to buy. It is a meeting place to discuss the important affairs between the castles."

"I am against this now since the money to build it is an issue," Fraser held up his hand. The simple solution would be to have the north come down to this castle when a meeting was needed. It would make a future attack to get rid of Killian Bune much easier. All he needed now was for everyone else to be against the decision.

"I am conflicted. They both make good points," Margaret said. It wouldn’t be an issue for her to help fund a court by the border but she already had her hands full with other arrangements to help others in the kingdom. "Your decision will break the tie, Killian Bune."

"I will pay for it to be built. Money is no issue in the north as it is over here," Killian replied.

Fraser gritted his teeth at the unwelcome insult. Of course, money would not be an issue in the north when they kept attacking others and stealing their wealth. However, he was not going to object to Killian paying for the court to be built since it meant Fraser got to keep all of his money. "That can stay in the truce but make sure to money the king of the north plans to pay for you," he said.

Amelia sighed, finding Fraser to be ridiculous but at least the idea was welcomed. To take some of the responsibility of paying off for the court to Killian, she would offer as much as she could. "Next, we need to talk about the prisoners we have on both sides. Since you invaded this castle, you released northerners who were locked up here," Amelia said to Killian. "It is only fair that the people belonging to this kingdom be handed back to us."

For once, Fraser could not disagree with Amelia. "I am all for that."

"I agree," Margaret put her hand up.

Killian folded his hands and thought about it. The north was never one to keep human prisoners alive in case they saw something they shouldn’t have. Times would have to change now that Amelia wanted people from both sides to freely walk on the two lands but those humans he captured in the past cannot be handed back. "I cannot fulfill that request because they have all died," he stated.

Fraser, Margaret, and Amelia were all shocked by this. Margaret had to shake her head and call herself a fool for thinking a demon would not kill a human prisoner. Amelia had hoped that they would still be alive and punished or set free here depending on their crimes but there was nothing she could do now. Fraser on the other hand felt like they were owed something since Killian killed their people.

"You’ve gotten back your people who were held captive here so it is only fair you leave them here since we can’t get back our people. No kingdom must benefit more than the other," said Fraser.

Killian chuckled since everything Fraser said was funny. "Hasn’t your kingdom benefited more from me not killing all of you? Everyone sitting at this table could have been dead. Your kingdom needs to do more to please the north than the north needs to do with you. The north has always killed trespassers but with this truce, that will stop. We have a few areas in the north where no outsiders are allowed. We will create a map and put up warnings so anyone from your side caught in these areas will be killed. Add that."

"O-Okay," Amelia started to write it down but Fraser stopped her.

"No, wait cousin. Shouldn’t we be putting this to a vote like everything else?" Fraser asked as this seemed highly unfair. "What exactly are your people hiding for us to not venture into those areas?"

"This is not up for discussion. You are allowed to keep your secrets just like we are. Write that down," Killian said to Amelia.

’It must be where they get their wealth from,’ Fraser thought. He had heard many times from his uncle how the north had many treasures hidden away in their land that was just waiting to be taken. If Killian drew a mark of where they could not go, it would just point out where all the treasure was.

Amelia saw it to be fear since there were secrets in their kingdom that would certainly not be told to the north. Perhaps one day when both sides could truly trust each other. Plus, Killian said her people could not find out about demons. It would incite too much fear and panic if they did. "I agree with keeping our secrets to ourselves for now but if Fraser does not agree with it, it can be brought back up at the second meeting," she said to please both men.

"I am fine with that," Fraser replied since he would have the court men on his side to help him go up against Killian. He did not care that he should be thankful to still have his life right now. Fraser wanted to find out everything about the north, take what he could, and then kill Killian.

"Let’s turn to a different topic everyone might be on the same page with. My wedding to Killian will unite the two kingdoms. It is a symbol that from that day on that the north the Blackwells will no longer be enemies. Everyone in this room plays a part in making sure that we no longer treat each other as enemies. The king of the north and the Blackwell king must work together," Amelia looked at the two men who clearly hated each other.

As queen of the north, she would be the bridge between the north and this kingdom, however, Amelia didn’t feel like always having to play peacemaker between the two men in the future to get them to talk about important matters in the future. They were both grown so she expected that if Fraser had something to discuss with Killian, a message would be sent to her instead and vice versa.

"You two will be able to get along in the future right? This somewhat peaceful atmosphere between the two of you won’t change when Killian goes back to the north right?" Amelia asked like a mother making sure her children would behave.

"On my end yes," Killian replied even though he intended to kill Fraser in the future. Amelia was aware of this but it seems like at this very moment she either forgot or simply did not care about it.

"It is insulting for you to ask us that question like we are children, Amelia. We are two kings who will get along just fine. King Killian and I are already able to communicate with each other well even if we do not share the same opinion. What you need to think about in terms of this marriage is learning how to be a northerner. I must ask should anything happen to the north and Blackwell truce and there is war, whose side would you be on?" Fraser asked to test her loyalty.

Amelia found that to be a foolish question to ask so early on when they were now working on peace. "I will stand for both kingdoms. I will be the queen of the north but nothing can ever change my Blackwell blood."
