The Throne Is Mine
Chapter 120

Chapter 120: Chapter 120

"This is going to take a year off of my life but I need him," Amelia sighed as she built up the courage to knock on Cyrus’s door. She looked to the side of the room Jahi was supposed to be in and hoped the woman would not hear her knocking and come outside. Amelia was not in the mood to deal with animosity when there would at the truce meeting in the next hour.

"Cyrus-oh," Amelia felt her soul leave her body when Jahi opened the door and glared at her. Jahi was dressed in one of Cyrus’s shirts and nothing more. "Good morning. You look well today. How are you feeling?"

"Really? That’s what you want to ask someone a day after they were rescued from being a slave. You-"

Cyrus covered Jahi’s mouth with his hand. "Do not mind her, princess. Did you need something?"

"Yes. The truce meeting is in an hour and I didn’t want to disturb you but Killian wants me to have a guard and since I only trust you," Amelia said and watched how Jahi’s eyes widened and it looked as if she was ready to curse her. "I would like it if you could come with me for two hours. You know the people I need to look for. I understand if don’t want to-"

"Of course not. How much longer do you-" Jahi mumbled against Cyrus’s hand when he covered her mouth again. Why was he such a fool in front of the princess? Cyrus was not acting like the man she knew who hardly cared about anyone else and was always quiet.

"I will be there, princess. Please wait here for a moment," Cyrus said then closed the door.

"Um okay," Amelia replied.

Inside the room, Cyrus pulled Jahi away from the door so Amelia could not hear them arguing even though she knew they were.

Cyrus rubbed his forehead out of frustration. "Jahi, if not for the princess I could have been sent far away and we would have never been able to see each other again. If not for her and king Killian, you would still be wherever he found you. She had been pushing for slaves to be freed and she cares about others. She is not like what we heard the Blackwells to be like. That was her father and we both know that we cannot blame a child for the actions of their parents."

"Do not try to make me relate to that princess. We are nothing alike. Cyrus, I just want you to move on from being her slave. You might dress and act like a guard, thinking you are free but she owns you. She didn’t save you. She bought you but manipulated you into thinking you were free," Jahi argued.

Cyrus shook his head. The day Amelia pulled away from being sold, she gave him a choice to leave and go back to the north but he chose to stay beside her so he could look for Jahi under the princess. "What happened is far from what you are imagining. The princess gave me a chance to go back to the north but I stood by her to be able to look for you."

"Well, now I am found so there is no need for you to be by her side. You are not going to whatever that truce meeting is. She can find one of her people to guard her," Jahi folded her arms.

"Jahi, you can not order me around. You can stay here until I get back or go to your room and be angry at me there," Cyrus said as he walked right by her to change his clothes. "I will bring you back breakfast and the dresses for you to wear. I understand your anger but I will not allow you to take it out on Amelia. It is not right."

Jahi felt weird in her chest from seeing how much Cyrus cared for the princess. "T-Tell me honestly, Cyrus. Do you have feelings for that princess? Do not tell me that you hate hearing about this because the more I watch you two the more I think it is a valid question. If the people here can see that, something must be up."

"I view Amelia only as a friend-"

"See! You are calling a princess by her first name!" Jahi screamed out of frustration. Cyrus was downplaying what she was seeing. Where was Cyrus who had feelings for her and only listened to what she had to say? Who was this man in front of her?

"The princess only lets her close friends and family call her by her first name. I was hoping that after you were saved, you two would have become close but until you get rid of this unnecessary anger, that won’t happen. I will not stop being a friend and a guard to Amelia to please you. Do not put me in an uncomfortable situation. Yes, I have known you far longer," Cyrus added when Jahi opened her mouth to argue once again. "But that doesn’t mean I have to pick between two people I care for."

Jahi remained quiet while Cyrus changed into different clothes. Since she was not getting through to him now, she knew that if she kept this up Cyrus would only push her away because of how much he cared for the princess. Until she could convince Cyrus to see the true colors of a person from the Blackwell castle, she would play nice with Amelia.

"Fine. I won’t make you have to pick. I know that you would never care for anyone who is a danger to the both of us so I will cast all judgment to the side and try to know her. We have a long back to the north for me to try," said Jahi.

Cyrus was glad to see her making an effort to get to know Amelia. Both young women might not see it now but they were quite similar in his eyes with their stubborn nature. Jahi and Amelia will get along well in the future to the point he will be long forgotten. "Thank you. Amelia is fine but there are many people from this castle I don’t want you running into. Please stay here until I get back," he touched her shoulders.

"As if I want to go around these people. I have plans to just stay here and sleep the day away until it is time for us to leave. I might hate the castle but I have never felt a bed as soft as this one," Jahi fell back against Cyrus’s bed. "We only had beds filled with hay because of what little money we had. I am going to rebuild my house and make sure I get a bed like this one."

’I will get one for you,’ Cyrus thought. He owed it to her as an apology for not being able to stop her from becoming a slave. Never again would he see her in such a state as when he found her yesterday. The best way for him to afford that lifestyle would be to stay by Amelia’s side and continue to be paid for protecting her.

"See you in two hours if things go as planned but here in this castle there is always a problem when the men in court are in one room and they will be against everything the princess says. If you hear screams it is most likely King Killian killing anyone who disrespects the princess. That man has fallen for her much to my dismay but it is useful for protecting Amelia. "

Cyrus gave Jahi one last look before he exited the bedroom and found Amelia leaning against the wall with a bored expression.

Amelia stood up straight after she noticed the door open and Cyrus standing there. "Hi. That was quick. I hope the two of you did not leave on bad terms because of me."

"No. We are good. Jahi is willing to stop being angry and get to know you. You two don’t have to force yourselves to like each other. I would like for it to happen naturally. You too are quite similar," said Cyrus.

Amelia started to start toward the meeting room with Cyrus. "In what way are we similar?" She asked as she did not see what Cyrus saw. Then again, she did not know Jahi that well.

"You are both stubborn," Cyrus replied, enjoying the side-eye from Amelia. "You should be able to admit that you can sometimes be stubborn."

"I don’t know what you are talking about," Amelia muttered. She wouldn’t call it being stubborn. She didn’t know what to call it but it was not stubborn.

"You can also be in denial just like Jahi. I don’t have to worry about the two of you. "

Cyrus didn’t flinch when Amelia playfully pinched his hand.

"I find you to be annoying but I am glad you are still by my side," said Amelia.
