The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 117
Chapter 117: Chapter 117
Cyrus walked through the various tents diligently inspecting every last one of them. He tried to focus on her presence and what he remembered she smelled like but there were too many people and too many smells for him to narrow in on her. He was starting to lose hope and feared the worst that she was never going to be rescued or he was too late and she had already perished.
He didn’t know what he would do with himself if he failed her twice. Just when he was giving up hope, he smelt something familiar. A special scent of blood filled his nose causing him to spin around and look at the tent he passed a moment ago. There was a woman tending to her wounds with her head down.
"Jahi?" He called her name and felt his heart skip a beat when her head looked up. Her usual blond hair was covered with what he presumed to be mud making it look brown. Her body had become smaller no doubt because slaves were not fed right.
"Cyrus?" She looked up at him with wide eyes. She blinked repeatedly and then rubbed her eyes with her hands as if she believed him to be an illusion. "Cyrus," Jahi called his name with excitement and tried to stand up but her body was still weak.
Cyrus caught her before she could fall. Just touching her felt weird because of how long he had been searching for her. Touching her made him realize this was reality and not like his dreams where he didn’t actually find her and he would wake up with her not around. He wanted to squeeze her tight and never let go but she was frail and it would hurt her.
"I have been trying to find you. I did not leave-"
"I know," she touched his cheek, not the slightest bit angry with him. "I was grouped up with too many demons for you to be able to track me. You were standing so close but I could not sense that it was you. Maybe I am too weak. Why are you wearing such fancy clothes?" She touched his shirt. "Are they giving them to us?"
Cyrus realized she thought he was a slave who was rescued and given good clothes. "The princess gave them to me. She saved me from becoming a slave and let me become her guard."
"Good job. The closer you are to her the easier it will be for you to kill her and all of her family. I have heard the king is already dead. I wished I could have been the one to kill him," Jahi muttered.
"Jahi, I have no intentions of killing the princess-"
"Why?" Jahi exclaimed as much as her sore throat would let her. "I suffered a lot because of her family. Those people used me as they liked. Humans of all things but I was too weak to do anything like everyone else here. Her family is the reason I ended up in that place."
"Her father is the reason why you ended up as a slave when our home was attacked by his people. The princess has been trying to get all slaves freed and returned to their homes. She has been working hard to end the slave trade. I have seen for myself that she is a good person," said Cyrus.
It was only because he was by Amelia’s side that he realized what a good person she was. Had she not rescued him when she did, his hatred for the entire Blackwell royal family would have continued and he would have sought to kill her and her father if he were to ever escape. Even in the beginning after Amelia had saved him, he thought of harming her to get back at what her family had done but her good heart was shown before he could try anything.
Jahi scoffed and pushed Cyrus away. "You want to view her as some kind of hero? She saved you only to make you work for her. A pretty promotion from being a slave like me but you were one in her eyes nonetheless. It is insulting that she made a northerner work as her guard when there were people of Blackwell guards to protect her. She must have taken sport in parading you around as her guard. Like a master with its pet that they tamed."
"Jahi," Cyrus sighed, knowing he would not be getting through to her anytime soon. Once she got to know Amelia better then she would realize what he meant. For now, it was more important for him to take her and treat her wounds. "Regardless of what you feel, she will be our queen as she is marrying King Killian."
Jahi’s mouth fell open at the news. She heard it while she was in captivity but she did not think it was true. She knew their king would not do such a thing. Was the princess manipulative to make even the demon king become her pet? "She cannot be our queen. I will rip-"
Cyrus covered her mouth before she could say something that might cost her life. The two of them were high-level demons like Killian who could certainly hear every word of what she was saying even from where he stood. "Enough. Let me take care of you first and then we can talk about other things. Come, I will take you to my room."
Jahi didn’t feel like going with Cyrus when they did not share the same opinion but she did not want to stay amongst everyone and be reminded of what she had gone through. She stood up without his help even though her body was weak. All she needed to do was feed on a couple of souls or go back down to the underworld and then she would be fine.
Jahi walked behind Cyrus toward the exit where Blackwell guards stood most likely to stop slaves from dirtying the castle. It didn’t surprise her that they were like this.
"Cyrus."
Jahi followed the sound of the woman who had called out to Cyrus and narrowed her eyes when she saw a young woman all dolled up and wearing a tiara right next to her king. She knew right away that this was the princess who Cyrus was trying way too hard to defend. How could the princess come here dressed like this when so many people here wore damaged clothes?
Jahi found it hard to believe that the princess was no better than her father. They shared the same disgusting blood. If Killian was not there, Jahi would have lunged forward and done to the princess what she wanted with the king. She could not stand how sweetly the princess was smiling at Cyrus.
Feeling a burning gaze on her, Jahi looked beside the princess at Killian who had his eyes on her. Jahi bowed and lowered her gaze to avoid offending him. ’Why would a man like him go for this princess? Unless he has some hidden plan," she thought.
Jahi would never accept a Blackwell princess as her queen and knew many demons would not. It wouldn’t be long before the Blackwell princess would see her end.
Killian smiled as he watched the young demon woman who found it hard to hide her dislike for Amelia. If no one else was present, he was certain she would try to attack his bride. ’What a foolish little thing,’ he shook his head.
This woman was someone to watch out for in the future. She would be useful if she could get Cyrus to stop being so close to Amelia. Yes, he disliked the closeness and he would not be getting used to it anytime soon.
Amelia could not contain her excitement to see Cyrus reunited with his lover. "Cyrus, I am glad that you have found her. Are you taking her to the room beside your own-"
"So there are more rooms for the people here to use but did not offer them?" Jahi said as she was unable to listen to Amelia.
"What?" Amelia replied, confused by the animosity in the woman’s voice. "I am not the one in charge of picking out where everyone goes. Your king and the men of the court here have been dealing with it. I only have the power to offer you the free room beside Cyrus because it is on my side of the castle."
"Sure," Jahi huffed. She did not believe a word of what Amelia said and even if she did, why did her king have to be telling these people where to put the people that he alone rescued?
Amelia looked at Cyrus for an explanation for what was happening but he could only offer her an apologetic look. Amelia decided to take the woman’s anger as a misdirection since her father was not here and she needed a Blackwell to blame. She did not mind it nor took offense to it because of what the woman must have gone through.
Amelia was satisfied with Cyrus finding her and hoped the anger would disappear soon so Cyrus would not be in a bad spot.
