The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 111
Chapter 111: Chapter 111
"A witch? It’s bad enough I am already marrying a demon but now you want me to wear something wrong a witch? A person many says places evil spells on you?" Amelia said, not wanting to take the necklace. "I have to politely regret it but thank you for the offer."
"Not all witches are bad. Not all demons are bad and not all humans are good. Your people are good at doing evil things. I have no intention of striving for peace just to kill you in the end," Killian touched her soft skin as he spoke. "I wish for you to live a long life to entertain me."
"I am not a puppet to entertain you. I have no intention of spending the rest of my life entertaining you," Amelia muttered.
Killian leaned down to her right ear and whispered, "I find that you don’t have to try to entertain me. You do it without thinking about it because it is in your nature. Why are you turning red, Amelia? Are you thinking about what you discussed with your maid?"
"C-Certainly not. I won’t have those thoughts when I am not yet-"
"Have them. I plan to be a dutiful husband in the future and fulfill all of your desires. I want to see what is in that naughty head of yours. Do not look at me like that," he smiled as she glared up at him. "I was once able to overhear your maid speaking of her wonderful collection of books and how you have been stealing them from here."
Amelia’s face turned red after being caught by Killian. Why on earth would Gina speak loudly about that?
"Let me tell you a secret. The things you read in those books cannot compare to the real thing. Should I give you a demonstration," Killian twirled the first button of her dress.
"I am not doing anything with you until we have gotten married. This is why it is dangerous for me to be in a room with you. You are nothing but a pervert," said Amelia.
"The person with the dirty books is calling me a pervert. How hilarious," Killian chuckled. He backed away from her to offer some space. "There is nothing wrong about a man or woman desiring the person they are about to marry. Do not let anyone try to convince you otherwise. You should open the door before someone thinks we are inside fooling around."
"What? Oh," Amelia touched the doorknob only now remembering she was meant to step outside. "Right," she turned the knob and opened the door.
"Princess," Gina sighed in relief to see the door open and Amelia was perfectly fine. "Are you going to the gates, princess?"
"Killian and I are going to go outside of the gates. Do you want to come along? I need someone to inform Cyrus I will not be around for a while," Amelia looked around for him.
"I will stay and look out for him. The wolf is still inside your bedroom so I will have to stay and make sure it does not leave," Gina replied.
"Thank you," Amelia said then started to walk but she remembered something. "Killian, Gina has something she wishes to say to you. Do not scare her."
Killian looked at the woman he found too weak and clumsy to be by Amelia’s side. However, as Amelia deeply cared for a few people around her, he had to be nice. "What is it?" He asked as nicely as he could.
’Is he angry with me?’ Gina cried on the inside. "I wanted to get your permission to join the princess in the north. She has-"
"Do as you wish," Killian replied, then looked to see if Amelia was pleased by it. She seemed impressed or surprised by his answer.
Gina’s eyes widened, surprised it was that easy for the king to let her join them. She turned to Amelia who had no choice but to let her come along.
"You should start packing your bags-"
"I will start now!" Gina ran away. There was so much she needed for the trip.
"That girl," Amelia shook her head. "Why did you agree to it so easily?"
"I thought it was something you would have wanted. Was I wrong?"
Amelia shook her head and said," It is something I wanted but I do not want her to get hurt. Since she is coming along, can I tell her about you? I don’t want her to walk in blindly. I wouldn’t have wanted myself to not be made aware of the north’s secret."
"You can as long as she won’t run off screaming from the yells alerting everyone of what she has learned. I will have to kill her the moment her mouth dares to scream," Killian honestly spoke. He wouldn’t care about being nice to Amelia’s people when that time comes. Well, if it were to come.
Amelia didn’t take any offense to Killian’s words as he had a big secret to protect. "I will inform her tonight and tie her to a chair to make sure she does not run around the castle screaming. I should have Cyrus present to prove to her that it is real or she will laugh at me. I am ready to leave now."
Killian offered his hand for her to hold. A gesture he heard was common here in this kingdom.
"Thank you. Do you two days will be enough to free all slaves and form a truce? It feels like these days will fly by quickly. More time will be needed for the slave trade to be destroyed. I know for a fact the meeting for the truce will have the ministers disagreeing with what is presented. Is there somewhere we can toss them?" Amelia half-joked.
Life would be so much better if they all just vanished.
"There is but you would feel guilty and have me bring them back. Those men are only rowdy with you. When I am present they will have no choice but to listen carefully to your plans and follow along with them. Perhaps instead of being ready to argue with you, they are waiting to see you fail. I hope that you have prepared your idea well."
"Yes," Amelia pumped her fists up. "I am no longer playing childish games with the people here. I took careful time to make sure that the conditions for the truce are perfect. As I am soon to become a queen, I am thinking about all of my moves more carefully. Do not let it boost your ego but I am trying to be more like you. A king who knows what to do and intimidate others."
Killian smiled, enjoying the compliment. "I do not always know what to do, which is why I have an advisor. Sometimes moments call for you to pretend like you know everything so no one can try laughing at you. With time and practice, you will make a wonderful queen. I am truly excited to be stealing such a treasure from this castle."
"Thank you for the compliment. Aside from my friends and grandmother, I appreciate someone telling me that. I worry that I have been chasing after a throne for so long only to end up doing a bad job as queen. I would not be able to face anyone who already told me I would be a bad queen," said Amelia.
"Do not think negatively before you are even crowned as queen."
"I am using the negativity to help push me to be better. Failing is not an option and I will not allow anyone to say they told me so. Especially Fraser. I just need the people to calm down and trust that I have their best interest at heart. Then again, I cannot bring back the son’s loss in this fight. They have to direct their pain and suffering to someone. Unfortunately, it is me," Amelia said but she did not mind it.
She continued to say, "I hope the priest can open the temple soon as it brings comfort to those who like to pray. Those uncertain of the future would find comfort in praying to the Gods. It has been so long since the temple doors were open."
Coincidentally, Amelia and Killian were walking past the temple as they headed toward the gates. It had been far too many days for the people on the inside to have no food and at this point, she was starting to wonder if the priest was still alive. Honestly, she would have them punished for closing the doors at a time like this when it would help explain demons and help anyone scared to find peace in praying.
All the priests knew what they were signing themselves up for by giving their lives to the temple but now they were hiding like rats. Their time hiding will be over once she returns to the castle. She wanted to hear the priest’s excuse for hiding when her grandmother had told her the priests were the ones to fight against demons.
