The Throne Is Mine -
Chapter 105
Chapter 105: Chapter 105
Amelia sat in her room, staring at the wolf. She was both scared and excited to see if she could bond with the wolf. She watched Loki run around her bedroom inspecting every single thing.
It didn’t seem like Killian had intended to hand her the wolf in the first place so now he wondered what had made the wolf take an interest in her when she did6 sleep in the same room as you at night or should I put you in another room? Let’s visit Killian," Amelia stood up.
She wanted to give Killian back his wife as it was too dangerous for her to have the wolf around when it could potentially harm her. Amelia did not bother to look back and see if the world was following her as she walked towards her bedroom door. Reactions would tell her the wolf was still behind her.
"Cyrus. Is Killian still in the castle? He said he was going to be dealing with the slaves they were rescuing. Can you tell if he is here?" She asked.
"He is. I have to keep my distance from that wolf, princess. It could try attacking me without warning unless the king has instructed it not to which I highly doubt he has. Did you do something to make the wolf take an interest in you?" Cyrus asked out of curiosity as Hellhounds were not the type to simply get attached to anyone unless it was a high-ranking demon.
"I did nothing. Midway into my conversation it just came up to me and placed its head on the chair. Should I be concerned that it has taken a strange interest in me? Does it secretly wish to eat me?"
Cyrus looked behind Amelia at the wolf that was already eyeing him. He remembered how it had sunk its teeth into his skin and had no desire to release him. "It is odd but even if it thought about eating you, it will not. As it is Killian’s pet, it will not harm you if Killian does not give it the order to. Tamed hellhounds are less wild than the others. Still, you should be mindful of it."
"I plan to give it back to Killian. A wolf following me around," Amelia froze when she felt fur against her hand. "This is not normal. Please take me to Killian."
Cyrus nodded and walked ahead of Amelia to stay clear of the wolf while he tracked down Killian.
Amelia looked to her side at the large wolf to try reading its behavior but quickly gave up and followed behind Cyrus. She sighed as the wolf following behind her was heard.
As she followed behind Cyrus, Blackwell’s servants panicked at the sight of a wolf casually walking around the castle with their princess. Normally when a wolf was spotted the men in town or castle guards would hunt and kill it to prevent anyone or animals from being killed. None of them were aware that Killian had departed the north with two wolves by his side.
Everyone coming or going the same path as Amelia turned to run away to avoid being attacked.
"Well, you’re certainly useful for getting rid of other people. Perhaps- no," she shook her head. Keeping a hellhound disguised as a wolf would not end well. Either for her or someone around her.
"Amelia, why the hell is there another mutt around you?" Fraser’s voice was heard behind Amelia.
Disliking the new presence, Loki turned around and growled at Fraser. He looked up at Amelia waiting on the command to kill the man.
’This wolf is making it hard for me to not want it if it immediately dislikes Fraser,’ Amelia thought.
"Watch your words before you have to end up watching your hands, dear cousin." To intimidate Fraser, she took a risk by petting Loki. Her heart had never rushed so much before as she expected the wolf to turn and snap at her too. It would’ve been embarrassing if it did.
"King Killian gave me one of his pet wolves as a gift."
Fraser looked disgusted by the sight of the wild animal. "Only a madman would have a wolf as a pet and you are joining him in his madness. You are still a Blackwell, Amelia. We do not walk around with such creatures by our side."
Deciding to freak out Fraser, Amelia looked behind him. "Do not be upset with his words, Killian. He meant no harm by it."
Fraser turned around ready to explain himself to Killian but found no one standing behind him. Amelia’s laughter was enough to make him consider strangling someone. He came here to take care of the matter with the truce but Amelia was playing around. No one should ever refer to him as the immature one.
"Are you done, cousin?" Fraser asked in a dull tone. He had no time to play around with the court ministers annoying him to get Amelia to agree to the truce once again.
’If only there was some way to please King Killian then I could knock Amelia off her high horse,’ Fraser thought. He would pay to see her facial expression after she lost two thrones. To make her even more miserable, he would send her off to marry the man her father planned for her to before Killian came around.
"I don’t know what to make of him giving you a wolf. Is he upset with you calling off the engagement and hoping the wolf will kill you?" Fraser wondered.
Amelia could be parading it around like a pet but Killian might have given it to her for the wolf to kill Amelia at some point.
"The engagement with Killian will continue as planned. I have sent out invitations to a truce meeting which will be held tomorrow. Clear your schedule-"
"You are in charge of the truce? What gives you the right, Amelia? You have never done such a thing before. We should leave that to the men who have helped your father with writing truces in the past. We’ve decided to let you sit in the room," Fraser gave her news she should be happy to hear.
"Sorry, but I have already made arrangements for this meeting and Killian is attending. If you want, you can ask him not to attend. Given that none of you have been helpful in freeing his people from the slave trade, I don’t think you should go to him about changing the truce," Amelia advised Fraser.
Fraser gritted his teeth, annoyed with what she had done but there was nothing he could do now. There was a bright side to this. Even though she called the meeting it did not mean she would have anyone listening to her. The court ministers outnumbered her and they would surely disagree with everything she had to say.
It would be fun to watch her be shot down after writing out a truce.
"Very well, cousin. Let’s see what you have come up with at this truce meeting. Moving on, I hope the two of us can fix our relationship by the time you need to leave with Killian," said Fraser.
Amelia wondered what Fraser was up to but for now, she would play along with it. "Sure. As a future king and queen, it would be childish for the two of us to be at each other’s throats. I hope you can seriously listen to the things I have prepared for the truce," Amelia said but she knew that he would not.
"Trust and believe I will be listening to you well. Before you give one of the servants a heart attack, you should tie that wolf up somewhere. Better yet, I would kill it just to be safe. Goodbye," Fraser ended the conversation quickly so he could get away from the wolf. He didn’t trust Amelia not to have it attack him.
"Look at him scurry away," Amelia chuckled at the sight. "You are terrifying but you can help me scare my enemies. As long as you promise not to harm me, I will keep you. Agreed?" She tried making a deal with the wolf but then realize how stupid it was to talk to an animal like this.
To her surprise, Loki nudged her hand as if he accepted the deal.
Cyrus who had been silently watching could not understand how Amelia was able to get a hellhound to warm up to her. Not even he was crazy enough to try being kind to one and he was the demon. "Do you still want to go to Killian?" He asked.
"No, he is busy so I should not interrupt him. I will head back to my room so you can have a moment to rest. Next time I see Killian I will ask him to let you search around the people saved for the woman you are looking for," said Amelia.
She wondered where the wolf would rest as it certainly could not stay with her at night. She knew well enough she would forget having a wolf and scream at the sight of it.
