The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 82: Outing

Chapter 82: Outing

Beatrix looked at herself in the mirror and nodded with satisfaction. She was wearing a long, flowing maxi style with puff sleeves and a square collar. It had a split down the front and ruffle detailing along the hem and collar. The dress was adorned with a floral pattern and was backless, adding a touch of sexiness yet simple to the overall look.

Her hair fell loose over her shoulders. She still was struggling with how to put on makeup so she opted for a simple lip gloss. She put on her contact lens and grabbed her bag walking out of her room.

Rhys said he was taking her out today. She had no idea where they were going but she was happy to spend time with him.

Last night he had another nightmare again. He was more aggressive and violent than the last time. Fortunately he didn’t hurt himself or her.

Beatrix sighed. It was difficult to see someone you cared about go through a difficult time and just watch without having the power to help them.

He was muttering some weird words. Beatrix nearly died of a heart attack when he took a needle from his drawer and injected himself with something. Muttering how it helped keep the demons and voices away.

It was so heartbreaking to watch him break down. He calmed down after the injection and finally saw that she was there with him in the room.

He didn’t say a word to her clearly and he was embarrassed again. Beatrix coaxed him to take a shower to wash away the sweat and after she was done helping him to bath, they came back to sleep with him lying down on her chest while she calmed him down stroking her hands through his hair.

The more time she spent with him the more she was curious about what his nightmares were about.

He never mentioned anything about being abused like Damien and he was protected by Damien so what could possibly be haunting him?

Watching his parents killed? Probably because she couldn’t think of anything else.

Whatever hell he had gone through she didn’t want to experience some because looking at him she doesn’t think she would have survived.

In order to distract him from whatever that was going on in his mind she had asked him a question about his tattoos, she so badly wished he hadn’t answered, because it crushed her.

"Why did you get these tattoos?"

He didn’t answer straight away, just stared into space for a while before replying.

They’re reminders of my mom. His wrist was a name. Bridget.

He rubbed it with a smile on his face, "My mom’s name.

Then he feathered his fingers on the numbers on his torso. "The date I lost her."

He pointed to a lily flower on his shoulder, "Her favorite flower."

"Her favorite drink, her favorite color, her favorite quotes ...." he showed her all the tattoos on his skin and she realized it was all for his mother— Her memories it was like he was afraid he was going to forget her so he tattooed all these special memories on his skin.

"Wasn’t it painful?" She had asked.

He chuckled and shrugged, "Pain is only temporary but memories are forever."

"Hmmm what about this date?" Beatrix asked the pointing to the date on his ribs that he had ignored.

"The date I tried to kill myself.." was all he mumbled, and she could’ve choked on the pain in her chest.

"Don’t worry....Damien found me. I wished he had let me die though. I’m a horrible person."

Beatrix didn’t mean to scold him, but she was so worked up with emotion she couldn’t help it. How could he say that? How could he be so selfish?

She knew Damien would have lived with guilt throughout his life if he had died that day.

She held his face and made him look her in the eyes, feeling so confused by wanting to slap him for saying something like that about himself and wanting to hug him and never let him go.

"Don’t you ever say that, do you hear me? No one ever deserves that, especially you, you didn’t deserve any of the horrible things that you had gone through.

I don’t care if I have to repeat myself until I lose my voice, I won’t let you think that about yourself." She told him firmly, swallowing down the rawness in her voice.

They fell back asleep eventually with him clinging to her with his head buried in his chest, well, he fell back asleep, all she could do was lay there wishing he could show him that he isn’t horrible the way he thinks he was.

He wasn’t horrible, horrible things have happened to him, but that didn’t mean that was who he was.

He may not be perfect, he may be flawed, but he was perfectly flawed to her, and she wanted him to see she adore every part of him, even the parts he hated.

Her heart skipped when she him waiting for her in the living room.

He smirked at her and watching him in black shirt and leather jacket with his messy hair did terrible things to her.

"Hello.....gorgeous." He grinned at her as she stride towards him and she couldn’t help her heart flutter at the compliment.

.

"Hey handsome’’ she grinned back, and his eyes lit up from his cheeks at the compliment.

He pulled her into his arms, ""I could get used to you calling me that."

Beatrix narrowed her eyes at him and tried to hide her smile. "I’m not sure that’s a good idea. You’re already conceited enough."

He gave her a sly look, "But I thought that was my charm love. Ladies love a confident man."

She gave him a skeptical look. "No we don’t ," she said deadpan.

He lifted and dropped his brows, "I thought you love me. I’m hurt."

He pouted and morphed his face into sadness as if he was about to cry.

Beatrix rolled her eyes at him, "So where are we going?"

"It’s a surprise you will see when we get there."

Beatrix squinted her eyes, "Alright. Let’s go."
