The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 75: Coming back

Chapter 75: Coming back

She sucked in a breath and lifted her eyes to the other dark paintings.

They all bore the same initials.

She felt her stomach flutter.

This man, who appeared to be standing alone at the edge of a cliff, had created all of these beautiful creations with his own hands.

Even though his creations were dark it was nice to see what goes inside his head. He had let her inside his personal space showing a part of him that he normally closed off.

Beatrix approached him nervously, eventually standing behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her face against his strong, solid back.

She spoke softly, saying "I’m sure your mother would be proud of you. You’re so talented."

He laid his hands on top of hers as he hummed in response.

She wanted to say something else but she held back, knowing that no words could fully capture the depth of her feelings.

It was scary to love someone as complex and damaged as Rhys, but at that moment she realized that she was already falling headfirst into the unknown, whether she was ready for it or not.

*********

Damine walked over to his desk in the corner of his room and grabbed his half empty pack of cigarettes.

He made his way out of the room, shoving the box into his back pocket before closing the bedroom door behind him.

After days of trying to find the traitor is his camp he had found one. One of the few men he trusted.

Now he knew why his father said him trusting people would be the death of him. As much as he hated the fucker he had to agree.

He made his way to the basement where they tortured and kept most of their prisoners.

Xavier was hella good at his job. He was the best to get any information out people. The guy was a psychopath at heart and he took pride in it. That’s why he was his right hand man and not just his best friend. One of the few people he trusted.

Trust.

He sighed. Such a heavy word.

As he descended the last flight of stairs, he laid his eyes upon the entrance to the basement. There were four men guarding the door, each with a stoic face and semi-automatic rifle. They acknowledged him with a quick nod of their head and swiftly moved aside.

"Xavier is already there." One of them said.

Damien nodded before he placed his hand on the ID scanner.

He waited for a moment as the scanner flashed white before turning green, beeping for a moment and causing the metal door to slide open.

The dim room was only illuminated from the single light hanging from the ceiling.

Xavier and two men were standing in front of the traitor, most likely waiting for him to arrive before getting started.

There was a rectangular table pressed against the wall displaying different devices and tools.

The traitor’s hands and feet were zip tied to the back of the metal chair he was sitting in.

Still unconscious, his head hung low as blood dripped from the gash in his head.

Such a lovely sight.

"Wake the fuck up." Xavier yelled as he held the assassin’s head up. He cocked his fist back before punching him across the face, making the man’s eyes open rapidly as he let out a grunt.

"Who do you work for?" Xavier asked as he grabbed his face roughly, forcing him to make eye contact.

The man laughed, "Go... fuck yourself."

The traitor hissed through his teeth. He then threw his head back a bit and spat in Xavier’s face.

Damien watched as Xavier slowly dragged a hand down his face, wiping off the spit that just hit his cheek.

"Well....you shouldn’t have done that." Damien laughed from the shadows. Xavier was a neat freak. Every time he got his hands dirty with blood he would wash himself three times as if to cleanse his body of his sins.

He released a barrage of punches to his face, filling the air with sounds of his knuckles hitting his cheekbones. He then kicked the man in the center of his chest, causing the chair to tip backwards and fall on the floor.

He watched as Xavier walked back towards him, his attention focused on his now bloody knuckles.

"Do you want to have a little fun? It’s hard to believe that your driver is a traitor ." He frowned as he looked up at Damien

Damien glanced at his driver and sighed,

"Yeah...I’m sure it’s deeper than we think. He was probably force or something. I think they blackmailed him."

Xavier chuckled, "As a leader you’re too trusting Damien. I know his father was your driver when you were a kid and he treated you like his son but he isn’t his father, Damien. The fucker has been leaking information to God knows who!"

Damien pinched inbetween his brows. He had promised the father that he was going to protect his son that’s why he had make him his driver and now he had betrayed him.

But why?

Who?

"Damien...if he was the one who picked you up from the airport and has been driving Beatrix’s around—-"

Xavier trailed off.

"Then whoever he is working for knows about Beatrix. Damien I think—she is in danger."

The moment Xavier finished talking, Damien’s phone ping in his pocket.

He frowned and removed it from his pocket. It was a text message.

From unkown:

7:30pm

Hello darling....do you miss me? I heard you have gotten yourself a new pet. A little bird told me she is your fiancé but I know better Damien. You’re incapable of love why would you tied yourself to a woman? When you can have all the pleasures in the world.

Tsk, tsk, I don’t care who is she Damien. You’re mine and I’m coming back for you.
