Chapter 196: D.O.N.E

"Please—Lo—Beatrix. Just give me one more chance. I miss you—fuck I miss you so much I don’t know how I have been able to go on for so long without you.

You’re all I see anytime I close my eyes. Everything reminds me of you."

A sob ripped from her throat as he continued.

"Well you wanna know what I see every time I closed my eyes?!" She bellowed.

"I ask myself if every good memories I had with you guys were even real or you were tolerating my annoying presence just to get your fucking revenge!

I have to question if all the I love you, your beautiful compliments were real! I have to question my worth every second because how could a miserable person like me deserve such a fulfilling love. Well now I know better."

She brushed the tears from her cheeks, but they fell too fast for her to make much of a dent.

"Two fucking guys. How could I have been so stupid. No wonder you all agreed to share me."

Beatrix gripped the roots of her hair, "God I’m going to be sick. How could I have been so stupid! How could possessive men like you agree to share the same girl and me being—"

"We love you! Believe me! Please." Rhys interrupted her.

Beatrix took a deep breath, "Well then, where is he? If he truly loves me why isn’t he here? Why hasn’t he come not even once to look for me. Does he even care about how I’m doing? ."

Rhys avoided her gaze. She chuckled seeing the guilty look etched on his face.

"He is protecting you."

He said as his eyes burned into hers, bright with pain.

"Ah the infamous excuse. Protecting me....everybody is fucking protecting me as if im a delicate egg that would crack at anytime. Well guess what?

They same people that are supposedly protecting me are the ones who always hurt me more than anyone in my life.I’m sick and tired of each one of you."

Beatrix sucked in a deep breath, unable to look at him, it hurt so much. "Leave me alone. I’m going to find someone who isn’t afraid to love me and will stand by myself not stand in front of me blocking my shine."

Rhys’ chest heaved like he couldn’t get enough air into his lungs. "I can’t do that, love. I’ll wait however long it takes, I’m not letting you go. Not again."

"Well good luck with that. I have gotten some pretty good men—"

His eyes darkened and he clenched his fist, and his shoulders tensed even more.

Somewhere, thunder boomed. She hadn’t noticed the weather morph from sunny to its current gray, gloomy stat.

"Men—," he snarled. "I’ll kill any man that touches you."

Beatrix was staring at him like he has lost his mind, but for some reason looks hurt; however that’s quickly wiped away with her own anger, "You do not get to waltz in here and act like a jealous dickhead after the shit you’ve done Rhys.

Don’t you dare speak to me like that in that possessive tone. Get your head out of your ass and stop thinking I will always be around for you guys, no I won’t! Not anymore."

Rhys took a step towards her, his eyes darkening with intensity. "I know I messed up, Beatrix. I know I hurt you, but I can’t let you go. I love you, damn it. I love you so much it hurts. Please, just give me another chance to make things right."

Beatrix shook her head, tears streaming down her face. "You don’t get it, Rhys. You don’t get to just say you love me and expect everything to be okay.

Love isn’t just a feeling, it’s a choice. And you chose to hurt me, to break my heart. You can’t just undo that with words."

Rhys reached out to touch her, but Beatrix pulled away. "I can’t do this anymore, Rhys. I can’t keep going back to you guys every time you decide you want me back.

I deserve better than that. I deserve someone who will love me and cherish me, not just use me and hurt me."

Rhys looked at her with a mix of sadness and desperation.

"Please, Beatrix. I’ll do anything to make it up to you. I’ll change, I swear. Just give me one more chance."

Beatrix sighed, "I’m not arguing with you any longer. You can wait as long as you want but it won’t matter, we are done."

With those final words, Beatrix turned away from Rhys, her steps becoming more determined as the rain began to drop. Each drop felt like a cleansing, washing away the pain and confusion that had consumed her for far too long. She could hear his pleas and apologies echoing behind her, but she refused to let them sway her decision.

As she walked, Beatrix couldn’t help but replay the memories of their relationship in her mind. The good times were now tainted with doubt and suspicion, overshadowed by the realization that she had been deceived. She was tired of second-guessing herself and constantly questioning her worth.

Rhys stood there, raindrops mingling with his own tears, watching her silhouette fade into the gray mist. He wanted to chase after her, to beg her to stay, but he knew deep down that it was futile. He had hurt her too much, broken her trust too many times.

As the rain washed away their shared memories, Rhys felt a sense of emptiness settle within him. He had lost the love of his life, and he knew he only had himself to blame. The realization hit him like a bolt of lightning, sharp and painful.

He sank to his knees, the rain pouring down on him, mirroring the storm raging within his heart. Regret and remorse consumed him as he replayed all the moments he had taken for granted, all the chances he had squandered.
