Chapter 173: Visiting
Rhys stood in the middle of the gym, his fists tightly clenched as he stared down at the punching bag in front of him. His mind was a whirlwind of emotions, and he couldn’t seem to calm himself down.
Tomorrow was the day he was going to meet the man who had terrorized him, and he couldn’t help but feel agitated and anxious. It had taken him years to work up the courage to confront him, and now that the day was finally here, he wasn’t sure if he was ready.
He took a deep breath and began to punch the bag with all his might, his fists slamming into the leather with a loud thud. Each hit was filled with anger and frustration, a physical manifestation of the emotions that were swirling around inside him.
Rhys had always been a disciplined fighter, but today his punches were wild and uncontrolled. He could feel his heart racing, his adrenaline pumping through his veins as he unleashed all his pent-up emotions onto the bag.
Sweat was pouring down his face, his muscles aching with exertion, but he couldn’t stop. He needed to release his anger, to let it all out before he faced his monster
As he continued to punch, his mind raced with thoughts of what he was going to say to the man when he saw him. He wanted to make him pay for what he had done, to make him feel the same fear and pain that Rhys had felt.
But as the minutes ticked by, Rhys started to feel something else bubbling up inside him. It was fear, pure and simple. Fear of what was to come, fear of what he might do when he came face to face with the man who had hurt him.
Rhys closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to push the fear down. He knew that he had to be strong, that he couldn’t let this man have any more power over him. He had to confront his fear head-on, and he had to do it tomorrow.
With renewed determination, Rhys stepped back up to the punching bag and started hitting it with even more force. He had to be ready for tomorrow, and he would be. No matter what happened, he wouldn’t let this man break him.
The sound echoed through the room as the bag swung back and forth. He followed up with a series of rapid punches, his muscles tensing with each impact.
The punching bag swayed back and forth, its movements matching the intensity of Rhys’ punches. With each hit, he felt a release of tension, a sense of catharsis as he let out his anger and frustration.
His breaths were quick and shallow, sweat pouring down his forehead as he continued to pound the bag. He could feel his heart racing in his chest, his adrenaline pumping through his veins.
As he punched, he thought about everything that had been bothering him - but Beatrix was on top of the list.
With each hit, he felt a sense of clarity and focus. He knew that he couldn’t control everything, but he could control how he responded to it.
Rhys continued to punch the bag, his movements becoming more controlled and fluid as he worked through his emotions. Gradually, he felt his tension dissipating, replaced by a sense of calm and clarity.
Finally, after several minutes of intense punching, Rhys stepped back and wiped the sweat from his brow.
He looked at the bag, now still and motionless, and felt a sense of satisfaction. For a brief moment, he had been able to release the pent-up emotions that had been weighing him down.
He had instigated Beatrix to find out what her father was hiding from her. Very soon he was sure she would find out the truth.
Truth of the monster her father was. He wondered what she would do if she finds out her father is the reason for his nightmares, his suicides and trauma.
The man whom she loved was nothing but a pedophile. A disgusting monster.
his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and saw that it was Damien. His heart leapt with relief and anticipation as he quickly answered the call.
"Damien, where the hell have you been?" Rhys asked, a note of worry creeping into his voice.
"I’m sorry, man. I’ve been busy with work and stuff," Damien replied, his voice sounding tired and strained.
Rhys sensed that something was wrong. "Is everything okay? You sound off," he said, concern evident in his voice.
Damien hesitated for a moment before speaking. "It’s nothing, just some stuff going on at work. I’ll be fine," he said, his voice faltering slightly.
Rhys knew his brother well enough to know that he was lying. "Damien, what’s going on? You can talk to me," he said, his tone firm but gentle.
There was a long pause on the other end of the line, and Rhys could hear Damien breathing heavily. Finally, he spoke. "I almost lost Xavier. We had some casualties today, Rhys. He took a bullet for me, he said, his voice cracking with emotion.
Rhys felt a pang of sympathy for his brother. He knew how much Xavier meant to him. And to watch him almost die must be traumatizing. "I’m so sorry, man. That sucks. Are you okay?" he asked, trying to keep his own emotions in check.
"Oh I’m okay. My fucking cousins are in for a hell of ride. I’m going to enjoy sucking the lives out of them. "
Of course they were. He was crazy.
"How are you? You think you’re ready for the next step?"
"Yes I wanna get over all of this so that we can travel around the world with our little sunshine."
Damien chuckled, "Yeah I don’t think it’s going to be easy Rhys. Pray she doesn’t hate us. The man is her father after all."
"Yes but he is a monster nevertheless."
