The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 155: Torture

Chapter 155: Torture

It’s hard for anyone to understand what it’s like to be in his position, every time he walks inside a basement.

For someone who tortured people for a living he still foundit hard to walk inside basements.

With trembling hands, Damien fumbled for the key to the basement and finally unlocked the door. As he descended the stairs, the heavy scent of mold and dampness overwhelmed him, making him feel queasy.

Once he reached the bottom, the sound of his own footsteps bounced off the concrete walls, mingling with the constant drip of water from the leaky pipes.

His chest tightened as he took in his surroundings, feeling trapped and alone in this desolate space.

As he approached the iron door, a sense of dread washed over him, causing his breath to hitch in his throat.

He took a moment to compose himself, trying to quell the nerves that were threatening to overwhelm him.

He finally managed to steady himself enough to unlock the door, revealing the source of the red glow that emanates from within.

He tried to push thoughts of Beatrix out of his mind, knowing that she couldn’t be here for what’s about to happen. He wished he could show her what he was about to do to the one who dared to hurt her.

He took a deep breath and hit play on the CD player, letting the music filled his ears and soothe his frayed nerves.

He flexed his hands and stretched his neck, readying himself for what’s to come. He was about to unleash the monster underneath him.

Damien took a deep breath and deliberately opened his mind to the memories and emotions that he’s been keeping locked away. He knew he needed to tap into them in order to achieve the sense of peace he was seeking, even if it meant unleashing the darker parts of himself.

As the memories flooded in, Damien felt a sense of anger, fear, and spite washed over him. But he also knew that tapping into these emotions was the only way he could get through what he was about to do.

Moving towards the workbench next to the old, rusted bathtub against the wall, Damien ran his fingers over the various instruments laid out on the table, trying to decide which one to use for his task.

The anticipation of what was to come tingled over his skin, and he felt his heart rate slow down as he prepared to block out all other emotions except for pain and wrath.

At this moment, Damien was completely focused on his goal, shutting out anything and everything else.

As he glanced at the pliers on the table, he picked them up, turning them over in his hand to examine them.

With a shrug of his shoulders, he decided that they’ll suffice for the task at hand. He walked over to the bathtub and turn on the faucet, plugging the drain and allowing the water to fill the tub. The screeching of the pipes mixes with the sound of running water.

Damien firmly grasped the pliers, turning around and rolling his shoulders until he heard his bones crack. He knew that the demon inside him was ready to take over, and soon he wouldn’t even recognize himself anymore.

As he stood in the room, he could hear heavy breathing, but it wasn’t his own. He reassured himself that everything would be alright soon, that he wouldn’t be the scared little boy he once was.

Instead, all he would hear soon were screams, and strangely, that was okay with him, as long as they weren’t his own.

He approached the bench situated close to the chair at the center of the room, carefully placing the pliers alongside some paperwork.

He then picked up a glass vial and a syringe, deftly sticking the needle into the vial’s lid, and turning it upside down to draw out a precise amount.

As he pondered his actions, he wondered if he should stop, particularly if he were to do this again after tonight. The thought of Beatrix came to mind, and he wondered if she would want him to stop.

However, he also questioned whether she truly would, given that she wasn’t like him or others like him.

He noted that she had a good heart, unlike himself and others, and he didn’t believe she would understand his predicament. Despite his doubts, he still believed that she would want him to stop.

He wondered if she would be scared of him if she saw him right now.

He wouldn’t blame her.

He was scared of him too.

Maybe it’s for the best, if she never saw him like this.

He wondered what she was talking about with Rhys.

They needed her gone, safe and sound for the chaos they were about to wreck in the city.

They needed her with her father for whatever sick plan they had.

Fuck he couldn’t stop thinking about her.

Damien turned to look at the woman who was tied up in a chair, where Xavier had left her for the past couple of days. He felt disgusted by her presence, as she had been the cause of his nightmares for the past two days.

Unfortunately for her, she was about to experience her own nightmare. Damien took slow steps towards her, his skin crawling as he stared at her in the red light.

He reached for the woman’s hand that was tied to the chair by her wrist and injected a needle into the IV catheter that Xavier had set up for her.

She was knocked out and Damien wanted to wake her up.

As Damien injected the drug that would wake the woman up, he waited patiently for it to take effect. It usually only took a minute or two.

After injecting her, Damien set the syringe down on the table and blinked rapidly. The rush of adrenaline coursed through him as he contemplated what was to come.

He hated this place. Hated the memories that came with it.

It made him feel like he was transforming into a monster like the one who had created him, but at least he tortured those who truly deserved it, not helpless and vulnerable kids like that monster.

He hadn’t chosen this path in the past, but now he had the ability to make his own decisions. At least now he was protecting the people who were deserving of it, even if no one else would

As Damien was in the room, he heard a faint groaning noise and turned around to see the woman starting to awaken. Her head was swaying back and forth, and her eyes were struggling to open.

In an attempt to distract himself, he picked up some paperwork from the table and walked over to turn off the water in the bathtub. However, the sight of the bathtub triggered a wave of painful memories to resurface, and he felt as though he was reliving his past trauma all over again.

The feelings of anxiety and fear intensified, as he remembered finding the woman he loved the most in a bathtub almost bleeding to death.

Damien’s thoughts drifted to the man who had hurt his mother, and he wished he could have done to him what he was about to do to the woman.

He blinked away the memories and, he took a deep breath and realized that he had been holding it all along. He tried his best to avoid looking at the bathtub filled with water, but he knew that he would replay the scene in his head over and over again until he completed what he had set out to do.

Despite the emotional toll this was taking on him, he believed it was worth it.

He was avenging the woman he loved the most now. He would let Alina feel every pain he had felt the past two days.

He waited patiently for her to be fully awake. She wanted to marry him? Then he would give her the perfect wedding.

His thoughts turned to Beatrix and he wondered if she missed him as much as he missed her.

However, he knew that he couldn’t afford to think about her during this time as she would disapprove of his actions.

He approached the woman sitting in the chair, and raised an eyebrow when he heard her trying to speak through the gag in her mouth.

"Hello Alina.."

He said, tilting his head with smile as he watched her stare at him in horror once she could focus on him.

That’s right, be fuckin scared - learn how it feels.

Damien could tell she was still a bit groggy, but being locked in a basement with a creepy red light and that god damn music is enough to slap you wide awake in no time.

"Miss me?"

Alina just shook her head as he noticed her body start to tremble and her face was scrunched up as she started to cry.

Fucking pathetic.
