The Sweetest Temptation
Chapter 135: Gone

Chapter 135: Gone

After their shopping, Beatrix and Rhys decided to shop for groceries for their upcoming week.

They had spent about two hours walking up and down the aisles of the supermarket, filling their carts with fresh produce, meat, and all the essentials they needed.

Now, as they stepped out of the store, the bright sunlight shone down on them.

"Are you hungry?" Rhys asked softly as he turned to glance at Beatrix.

"Yes I’m starving." Beatrix replied.

"Alright, let’s grab some burgers before we go home. What do you think?"

"Alright. It’s been so long since I had one."

As they walked into the restaurant, the smell of grilled burgers filled the air. Rhys looked over at Beatrix, who was already drooling at the thought of a juicy cheeseburger.

They both laughed, and Rhys led the way to a cozy booth in the corner of the restaurant.

Beatrix sat down and let out a content sigh.

"This has been such a fun day. I can’t wait to try the burgers here. I hope they’re good."

Rhys smiled and reached across the table to take her hand. "I’m just glad we can spend time together like this. I always hated shopping but I had fun too. I like spending time with you."

Beatrix blushed at his compliment and leaned in for a kiss. Just then, the waiter appeared with their drinks and took their order. They both decided on cheeseburgers and fries, with a side of onion rings and sodas.

"Do you think Damien is okay? I know he had been having nightmares but I thought they had stopped but it doesn’t seem like that." Beatrix sighed. She was worried about Damien.

She knew he was hiding something from her from the way he kept avoiding her gaze and the way his brows would furrow together deep in thoughts when he thought she wasn’t looking .

"It’s getting closer to his mother’s anniversary he gets nightmares during this time and it’s really bad. "

Beatrix frowned, "His mother’s anniversary? When is it? Why hasn’t he said anything to me?"

Rhys shrugged, "I don’t know why he hasn’t told you. Probably he didn’t want you to worry. You have been through a lot already with his coma.

That’s why he had probably suggested that we go out. You need the rest. You can’t take care of us forever. We have to take care of you too."

"Well... I-yeah I know but I don’t want you guys to keep things from me. I want to know if things are bothering you. If we are going to make this work then you have to let me in okay?"

Rhys nodded, "Alright. But you have to understand that it isn’t that easy for us. We don’t know how to let someone in. We have build our walls so high so that no one could climb in. It will take time to crumble those walls."

Beatrix squeezed his hands and gave him a small smile, "I know but together we can break those walls."

Rhys held her hands up to his lips and pressed a soft kiss at the back of her hand.

"We are lucky to have you in our life."

Beatrix blushed when she saw people looking at them, especially those girls who were previously ogling at Rhys. They were now glaring at her.

Finally their burgers arrived, and they both took a big bite. The taste was even better than they expected, with melted cheese and juicy beef mixed with all their favorite toppings.

They both moaned in satisfaction, and Rhys laughed at Beatrix’s food-coma expression.

Beatrix took a sip of her drink and looked up at Rhys. "This is the perfect end to a perfect day. I’m so happy that we were both able to create so many happy memories today. I hope we do this more often."

Rhys’s eyes softened, and he leaned in for a kiss. "I feel the same way, love. I can’t imagine life without you. You complete me in every way."

They sat in silence, looking into each other’s eyes, lost in the moment. The sound of their food and the restaurant faded into the background as they lost themselves in each other.

Finally, Rhys pulled away, smiling. "We should finish our food before it gets cold."

Beatrix chuckled and took another bite of her burger. "I could eat this every day and never get tired of it."

Rhys nodded in agreement. "Me too. But let’s save some room for dessert. I heard they have the best milkshakes in town."

Beatrix’s eyes lit up, and she clapped her hands in excitement. "Yes! I love milkshakes. Let’s do it!"

They finished their burgers and ordered the biggest milkshakes they could find. They were both so full, but they couldn’t resist the sweet treats in front of them.

Just as she was about to finish her milkshake, Beatrix felt a sharp pain jolted through her. The familiar sharp piercing pain made her furrow her brows and her face turned ashen.

"Hey are you okay?" Rhys asked, concern etched on his face. He grabbed her cheeks and gently feathered his thumb on her cheeks.

Beatrix bit her lips, a flush of shameful of red spread across her cheeks as she grabbed her stomach.

"I-I need to visit the washroom. I will be right back."

Without waiting for him to reply, she bolted out of her seat and approached one of the workers to ask about where the washroom was.

The woman was kind enough to help her find the place.

Beatrix locked the door once she got into one of the stalls.

She removed her pants and underwear and let out a series of curses.

She nearly cried out of embarrassment. Out of all the places her period would have come it was here. When she was having such a good time with Rhys!

"Beatrix, hey are you okay?" A sudden knock on the door jolted her out of her thoughts.

She quickly put on her panty, the blood stains weren’t that significant and went to open the door.

"Rhys? What are you doing here? You can’t be here!" Here was the females washroom so she was afraid that he would get caught.

"Don’t worry I told the woman that my wife was in there and I was worried about her. She saw you coming inside and also there is no one here."

"Oh—"

"You look pale, are you okay? Is something wrong with you?" He asked softly.

Beatrix lowered her head to look at the floor, her face flushing red. "Rhys, I think I got my period," she whispered, her eyes filled with embarrassment.

God. She wished the ground would open and swallow her right now. Nerves fluttered in her stomach as she waited for him to say something.

She gathered courage and looked up at him and saw that he was deep in thoughts. It was like he was trying to process what she was saying. She could see he didn’t know what to say or do.

"Erm—-I need sanitary pads and some pain-killers." Beatrix added.

Rhys rubbed the back of his neck, "Oh of course. Sorry I will quickly grab them. I saw a supermarket just across the streets."

Beatrix was surprised by his words , she thought he was going to let her grab it herself. Not suggest that he would get them for her.

"Are you sure?" She asked softly, her voice barely a whisper in the room.

"Don’t worry, Beatrix, I’ll get you what you need," he said, his voice confident and reassuring.

. "Do you have a preference?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

Beatrix shook her head. "No, just something that’s comfortable and discreet," she replied.

Rhys nodded and pressed a kiss on her forehead, "Lock the door and wait here. Don’t go anywhere I will be right back okay?"

"Alright."

Rhys rushed out of the bathroom and went to buy the sanitary pads. Beatrix’s heart couldn’t help but swell with love because of how thoughtful he was. She was really lucky to have these men in her life.

******

Rhys stood in the aisle of the supermarket, scanning the shelves for the right product. He felt a little embarrassed, as he had never had to buy a sanitary pad before.

He cleared his throat, trying to act nonchalant, and finally spots what he was looking for. He reached up to grab a pack and then hesitated, unsure which type to choose.

Suddenly, an employee appeared beside him, asking if he needed help. Rhys nodded, feeling relieved. "Yes, I’m buying this for my girlfriend. Which one would you recommend?he said, trying to explain the situation as quickly as possible.

The employee nodded understandingly and suggested a popular brand with good reviews. Rhys thanked them and grabbed a pack, heading to the checkout to pay. As he left the store, he felt proud of himself for stepping out of his comfort zone to help Beatrix in her time of need.

When he got back he gave the bag to the employee who had shown Beatrix the washroom to give it to her.

Rhys tapped his feet as he decided to update Damien on what was happening. They had been gone for a long time. He might probably be worried.

"Excuse me Sir?" The employee’s voice made him looked up from his phone.

"Yes? Have you given it to her?

The woman shook her head and handed the bag back to Rhys, "I’m sorry but the washroom is empty. There is no one inside."

Rhys heart thumped in his chest and without replying the woman he rushed to the washroom. Like the woman said there was no one there.

The stall that Beatrix was inside was now open and there was no sign of her.

She was gone....
