James Brown grinned, popped open a few cans of beer, and said, “You know, Gina, you can’t just boss people around like that.”

Gina laughed merrily and said, “I’m in a good mood today, just go along with it, will you?

At most, I’ll allow you to smoke.”

“That’s more like it.” James Brown immediately took out a cigarette, lit it, and comfortably started puffing away.

Sunny Nguyen observed the two of them, her lips twitching slightly as she said to Gina, “Gina, what is this…?”

Gina chuckled and said, “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it, let’s just keep to our own discussion.” She deliberately avoided answering.

Sunny Nguyen couldn’t inquire further, so she and Gina drank beer while discussing the route for the next day.

Neither of them were YODC City residents, but there was plenty of information available on the computer.

In the time it took James Brown to go out to buy the beer, Gina had already sorted through most of it.

Her efficiency was truly astonishing.

Both Sunny Nguyen and Gina were workaholics; as soon as they started talking about work, they completely forgot everything else, leaving James Brown feeling rather bored and wanting to leave early.

But just as he stood up, Gina said to him, “Where are you going?

If Sunny and I drink too much, you’ll still need to wake us up in the morning.”

James Brown rolled his eyes and replied, “You could drink less.”

“Get out of here, it’s none of your business.

We’ll drink if we want.”

“Then drink up, I’m going to sleep.”

“No way, you’re staying with us.”

James Brown couldn’t help but roll his eyes.

Gina was really being capricious today, which was completely different from her usual aloofness.

“Alright, stop glaring and just join us for a drink.” Gina surprisingly reached out to pull James Brown down to sit, and her tone… was even somewhat coquettish.

James Brown glanced at Sunny Nguyen, only to catch her stealthily glaring at him before she took a hefty swig of her beer.

Taking up a can of beer, James Brown said, “Drink up, drink up.

Aren’t you afraid I’ll get completely smashed and then take advantage of you both?”

Gina looked at James Brown with disdain and asked, “You dare?”

James Brown’s eyes widened immediately, and he said, “You’d better not provoke me.

I might not dare with other things, but with two beautiful drunk women lying in bed, I absolutely would dare.”

“Get out of here, just drink your beer.” Gina rolled her eyes at James Brown before resuming her conversation with Sunny Nguyen.

“Hey, Sunny, what’s up with you?

Why do you seem distracted?” After a few words, Gina paused and looked intently at Sunny Nguyen.

Sunny Nguyen rubbed her forehead and said, “Gina, I can’t hold my liquor; I’m feeling a bit dizzy.

I need to go wash my face.” Then she headed to the restroom.

Now, Gina was smiling mischievously at James Brown, sitting with one leg crossed over the other, gently swaying her lower leg, and asked, “Still dare to say nothing’s wrong?”

James Brown laughed and replied, “When did our Gina get so into gossip?”

“I fancy it.

Can you control it?

How about we get Sunny drunk later and give you a chance?”

James Brown stared dumbfounded at Gina, then chuckled and said, “I used to think you and your sister were quite different.

Now I realize you two are just the same, you’ve just been repressing your true nature.”

Gina snorted with laughter and said, “You’re just realizing this now?

Seems like you’re not too late.”

At that moment, Sunny Nguyen came out of the restroom, saw the two of them laughing and talking, and felt a bit of a sour taste in her heart, but her mood had already calmed down.

She smiled and said to Gina, “Gina, could you not flaunt your affection with James all the time?

Consider the feelings of a woman like me who has just gotten divorced.”

Gina was somewhat embarrassed by these words and hastily said, “Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing between me and James.

It’s just that during the New Year, I hired him to pretend to be my boyfriend to deal with my parents.”

“Pretend?” Sunny Nguyen looked at the two of them incredulously.

Gina chuckled lightly and said, “Of course it’s fake, but this guy is still reliable enough to put me at ease, so I let him join us for drinks.”

Sunny Nguyen was still skeptical and said, “But, I think there’s a bit of truth in this playacting of yours.”

James Brown laughed heartily and said, “You just get used to it if you keep acting.”

Gina glared at James Brown and scolded, “Don’t talk nonsense.” Then she turned to Sunny Nguyen and said, “Sunny, we’re all among friends here, so there’s no need to hold back.

You have to move forward in life.”

Sunny Nguyen’s face flushed red, and she stammered, “We…

we…

there’s really nothing between us.”

Gina laughed and said, “Alright, if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine.

But remember, that night when you called him, he was at my place.”

At this point, Sunny Nguyen was so embarrassed she wished she could hide away.

If it weren’t for her recent divorce, she wouldn’t have to feel this way.

But having just ended a marriage and gotten involved with James Brown, it was hard to escape judgment.

People might think that she and James Brown had an affair, and that’s why she divorced.

Gina then patted Sunny’s leg and said, “Sister Sunny, I know all about what happened at the head office.

It’s not your fault.

For such a scoundrel, it’s not worth your concern.

Although James Brown isn’t much better, he’s still a vast improvement over your ex-husband.”

James Brown immediately rolled his eyes and said, “What do you mean ‘isn’t much better’?”

Gina glared and retorted, “It’s none of your business.

We women are talking; why are you men interrupting?”

Sunny, having been called “Sister Sunny” by Gina, suddenly felt much closer to her.

After having had a fair amount to drink, she tossed her hair and, with watery eyes, looked at James Brown and said, “Gina is right.

This guy really isn’t all that great—is fine as a bed partner, but as a husband?

Definitely not up to the mark.”

Gina laughed again and said, “That’s your business.

I won’t get involved.

Let’s continue drinking.”

James Brown shook his head.

Although Sunny Nguyen was older than Gina Lopez, she was no match for Gina’s schemes and quickly fell into her trap.

But for him, whether people knew or didn’t know about their relationship didn’t bother him one bit, as long as Sunny Nguyen didn’t seriously consider marrying him.

The atmosphere warmed up considerably afterward, and the three of them had their fair share of drinks.

Gina was quite tipsy and stood up, saying, “Alright, I need to go to sleep.

The room next door is all yours.” Then she staggered back to her own room.

Sunny paused, wondering how James Brown could just casually walk into Gina’s room, especially while she was sleeping.

Wasn’t that being too forward?

Could it be that James Brown had also slept with Gina?

Thinking of this made Sunny a bit uncomfortable, but more than that, she felt relieved.

If James Brown had slept with Gina, then they were all in the same boat, and there was no need for awkwardness.

James Brown had no idea this action would spark such thoughts in Sunny.

He was now by Gina’s bed and saw that she was still sleeping soundly, so he had to nudge her shoulder and say, “Gina, time to get up.”

Gina mumbled a recognition and opened her eyes, asking, “What time is it?”

“Half past six.”

“Oh, then I need to get up.” Gina rose, wearing her pajamas, and shook her head, looking very tired.

“You were told not to drink, but you insisted.

Look at the state you’re in now,” James Brown said, shaking his head.

Gina glared at James Brown and said, “It’s not because of the drinking.

I was about to fall asleep, but you guys were so loud, I couldn’t sleep at all.”

There was a loud ‘thump!’ from outside the door, as if someone had bumped into it.

Gina immediately burst into laughter and called out, “Sister Sunny, are you okay?”

“I’m fine, I’m fine,” Sunny replied hastily.

Gina laughed uproariously, then glared at James Brown and said, “Now get out; I need to change.”

“You go ahead and change.

It’s not like you haven’t changed in front of me before,” James Brown muttered but still quickly left the room.

Gina snorted and then began to change her clothes quickly.

Today was important, and she couldn’t afford any slip-ups.

If Lucy Campbell called early and she wasn’t ready, it would be really rude.
