The Support Ate it All -
Chapter 378: No.207 Rabbit Tower (3)
Soon, the elevator came to a stop at the [Puzzle (Large)] floor.
The first thing that caught our eye was the platform placed directly in front of the elevator.
It was shaped like a large button, clearly marked with the word “RESET”.
Go Hyeon-woo looked down at it with curiosity.
“Reset, huh? At the very least, it looks like we’ll be given multiple tries.”
“Yeah, probably.”
If things didn’t go well, you could step on the platform to start over from the beginning.
But just because you get multiple chances doesn’t mean the puzzle is easy.
If anything, it was probably so difficult that repeated attempts were expected.
Then the question becomes, what exactly are we resetting? Our group seemed to be pondering the same thing as we looked around.
To our left and right, dozens of rabbit statues were lined up.
Each rabbit statue had a number on its forehead and a button on the crown of its head.
Seo Ye-in tilted her head and asked,
“…In order?”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
You simply had to press the buttons in order from 1 to the last number.
Chompy sneered and cut in mockingly.
“Kyukyut, but is it really going to be that easy?”
“Probably not.”
It was still a C-rank dungeon, and the challenge was labeled [Puzzle (Large)].
Noticing something odd, the two of them began to examine the rabbit statues more carefully.
Then Go Hyeon-woo spoke.
“The numbers are scattered across both sides.”
The No. 1 statue was on the left side, while statues 2 and 3 were on the right, 4 and 5 were on the left again, and 6 was back on the right.
This meant the team had to split into two groups and press the buttons in sync, coordinating their actions carefully.
I said casually,
“Just give it a try.”
“That sounds like a good idea.”
I already had an easier method ready to go.
But it would be more beneficial in the long run to build some experience first.
Eventually, a time would come when we’d have to solve a puzzle without relying on tricks.
Soon, the two of them positioned themselves among the statues. One on the left, the other on the right.
Go Hyeon-woo placed his hand on statue No. 1 and spoke.
“I’ll go first. Pressing No. 1 now.”
Next, Seo Ye-in pressed the button on statue No. 2, glanced around, and then found and pressed No. 3.
“Two, three.”
“Number 4 is over here. And 5 as well.”
“Six.”
But just then—
Clunk—
The ceiling opened up, and armed rabbit dolls came dropping down.
There were four or five on each side. Not a huge number.
The moment they landed, they charged at Go Hyeon-woo and Seo Ye-in, who responded calmly despite the sudden situation.
Seo Ye-in dodged the incoming blades with agile movements, then fired her magic gun with blue flames blazing.
Tududududu!
Go Hyeon-woo also moved smoothly with his movement technique and started cutting down the rabbit dolls one by one.
“It’s clearly not as simple as it looks. They throw in interference.”
Still, there weren’t that many enemies, so the fight wrapped up quickly, and they resumed solving the puzzle.
“Pressed Number 7.”
“8, 9.”
“Number 10.”
“11.”
Clunk—
The ceiling opened again, and armed rabbit dolls came dropping down.
This time, there were a few more.
The difference was that not all of them charged at Go Hyeon-woo and Seo Ye-in. One or two turned around and began to flee instead.
Soon, Go Hyeon-woo realized something and his expression hardened.
“Damn.”
Those one or two weren’t fleeing. They were heading straight for the statues.
Go Hyeon-woo hurriedly tried to launch a sword energy strike, but before he could, one of the rabbit dolls pressed the button on statue number 17.
Beep—!
A shrill sound echoed through the hall.
The rabbit dolls that had pressed the button also turned and charged at Go Hyeon-woo and Seo Ye-in, as if their mission was complete.
After taking them down, Seo Ye-in went over and tried pressing buttons on the nearby statues.
“They’re broken.”
“So, if you press the wrong one, it locks, huh.”
Go Hyeon-woo responded with a bitter smile tugging at his lips.
Since the buttons couldn’t be pressed anymore, they had no choice but to start over from the beginning.
At that, both of them turned to look at me, and I stepped on the reset panel with force.
The hall instantly returned to its original state.
I asked the two of them,
“Want to go a few more rounds? Or should we move on?”
“If Miss Seo doesn’t mind, I’d like to give it a few more tries.”
Go Hyeon-woo smiled softly.
Seo Ye-in glanced between us and gave a slight nod. Looks like her sloth battery still had plenty of charge.
And maybe her competitive spirit was starting to kick in, too.
So the two of them started challenging the puzzle a few more times.
They grew more skilled with each attempt, setting new records.
“11, 12.”
“13, and 14.”
Beep—!
“15.”
“16, Miss Seo.”
“17.”
Beep—!
But the rabbit dolls kept getting in the way, so they kept failing and had to reset over and over.
Watching them, I started to think.
Maybe it’s about time to move on.
They’d experienced the puzzle enough by now, and we’d confirmed that their teamwork was decent.
I leaned over and said,
“Chompy.”
“What is it, you wicked human?”
“Let’s start getting ready.”
Chompy had been watching the two struggle with a hint of a smirk, but when I spoke, he seemed to catch on to what I meant and immediately scowled.
“Kyuit, I don’t like this! What’s the fun in solving a puzzle that way?”
“What fun? The fun of getting things done the easy way.”
At my tone, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, Chompy gave up on arguing and shook his head in disbelief.
In any case, he didn’t really have a choice but to do what he was told.
Otherwise, he’d be getting a taste of my ice fingers.
Grumbling, Chompy pulled out his pocket watch.
“…How did I end up like this? I’ve got no face to show my ancestors.”
“Let’s think positively. First, you have to survive if you want to become someone’s ancestor someday.”
Meanwhile, Go Hyeon-woo and Seo Ye-in were going for another record.
“Number sixteen, Miss Seo.”
“Seventeen, eighteen.”
Clun,
Once again, the ceiling opened and armed rabbit dolls came tumbling down.
But just then, the entire hall was washed in black and white, and the rabbit dolls froze mid-landing.
[Time Freeze] had been activated.
At the same time, I cast my own skill.
[Activated ‘Octopus Lumbs’.]
[The target has been granted ‘Time Resistance’.]
Tick— Tock— Tick— Tock—
Go Hyeon-woo looked around with eyes that were half surprised, half intrigued.
“This is that time magic you mentioned, Kim-hyung?”
“That’s right. Let’s finish the puzzle first.”
“Understood.”
Time magic tends to have a very short duration.
Even considering that I borrowed the power of a pocket watch, it was still remarkable.
So for now, it was better to focus on clearing the stage.
There would be plenty of time for explanations afterward.
Without hesitation, Go Hyeon-woo slashed through the frozen rabbit dolls in a single stroke, while Seo Ye-in fired her magic gun in rapid bursts.
Then, they quickly moved ahead, pressing the buttons as they went.
Originally, the ceiling would have opened a few more times, but with time stopped, even that mechanism had ceased to function.
“25, 26.”
“27, and 28.”
“29.”
“30. That’s the end.”
No sooner had Go Hyeon-woo spoken than [Time Freeze] was lifted, and the once-frozen rabbit dolls all collapsed to the floor at once.
Then the elevator began operating again, signaling that we were ready to move on to the next floor.
We exchanged glances in front of the roulette and the lever.
“Go ahead and pull it.”
“Okay.”
Without hesitation, Seo Ye-in grabbed and pulled the lever.
The roulette began spinning round and round,
[Puzzle (Large)]
“Another puzzle floor, huh.”
“Yeah, looks like it.”
The next floor looked almost identical to the previous one.
If anything was different, it might’ve been the arrangement of the rabbit statues.
But naturally, that sort of difference meant nothing to us.
Especially since we had a cheat code.
“…….”
“…….”
Everyone’s eyes turned to Chompy.
“Chompy, let’s get ready again.”
“Kyuuut! This isn’t what puzzles are for! Try showing some teamwork for once!”
“What do you think we’re doing right now? This is teamwork.”
It was just that the teammate doing the work was a time-freezing rabbit.
Go Hyeon-woo and Seo Ye-in nodded in agreement.
“That’s a fair point.”
“I agree.”
Chompy was at a loss for words.
***
We cleared the second puzzle (large) floor in less than five minutes.
And once again, we stood before the roulette.
Chompy scowled deeply and said,
“Kyuu-kkyut! I won’t help with puzzles anymore. Not even if I die!”
“Not even if you die? Really?”
As I asked back, Seo Ye-in grabbed the Immortal Kim Ho-Kim Ho Pot.
She looked ready to smash it down the moment I gave the signal.
But even as he took half a step back, he held his ground.
“I mean it! I said I’m not doing it!”
“Well, if you’re really that set on it…”
Knowing his personality, if he said he wasn’t doing it, he truly meant it.
Not that we were particularly disappointed.
Thanks to him, we breezed through two whole floors.
I soon gave a quick glance to the side, and Seo Ye-in pulled the elevator lever.
Clunk.
The roulette began to spin, gaining speed.
And what it landed on was—
[Bonus (Large)]
I felt thoroughly satisfied.
“Now that’s excellent.”
“This is a first for me. What kind of effect does it have?”
“See for yourself.”
Soon, the elevator stopped at the next floor, but the place was completely empty.
When Go Hyeon-woo and Seo Ye-in slowly looked around, a notification message popped up at the edge of everyone’s view.
[Rewards will be greatly enhanced.]
In Rabbit Tower, the random box rewards were given all at once after clearing the final floor of the dungeon, but rewards began accumulating from this very moment.
So far, we had rewards stacking up from one medium battle floor, one medium boss floor, and two large puzzle floors.
Of course, rest areas don’t count.
And the bonus floor, true to its name, added a bonus on top of the rewards we already stacked up.
We didn’t even have to do anything. We could just move on to the next floor.
I made a passing remark to Seo Ye-in.
“Doesn’t this feel even more relaxing than a rest floor?”
“……!”
Wouldn’t it be better to finish quickly and get back to the dorm rather than taking scattered breaks?
Seo Ye-in raised an exclamation mark above her head.
Then, with sparkling eyes, she pulled the lever.
“…Bonus.”
Clunk.
[Bonus (Large)]
[Rewards will be greatly enhanced.]
The next floor, too.
Clunk.
[Bonus (Large)]
[Rewards will be greatly enhanced.]
After three consecutive bonuses, Chompy’s expression turned oddly puzzled.
He hopped around and started inspecting the roulette in every way.
“Kyuit, what in the world is going on? Is it broken?”
“She did it.”
I pointed to the cheater sloth as the cause of the roulette malfunction.
