Chapter 44 - Fluent Thai—Interested?

Chapter 44 Free Gift: Fluent Thai—Interested?

Half a month passed quickly. An Liang chatted daily with Li Xiyan on WeChat and went on dates every few days. This frequent interaction naturally caused Li Xiyan’s friendliness points to rise significantly.

From the original 71 points, her friendliness had increased to 80. This stage was called “Close Friends” or “More Than Friends, Not Yet Lovers.”

In their case, An Liang and Li Xiyan were clearly “More Than Friends, Not Yet Lovers.”

[Xiyan, I’m planning to go to Thailand. Want to come?]

An Liang sent a message on WeChat.

Over the past half month, An Liang had gotten his passport and visa sorted.

[Why are you going to Thailand?] Li Xiyan asked. [Mainly for work. If you come too, we can do some sightseeing there.] An Liang explained. [Work-related?] Li Xiyan followed up. [It’s about the virtual currency trading I’ve been doing online. My partner is based in Thailand. I’m going there for that.] An Liang replied simply. [Oh, if it’s work, then I won’t go. Just be safe.] Li Xiyan responded.

An Liang didn’t insist. If she had agreed to come, he would have used the opportunity of traveling alone with her to take things to the next level. But since she didn’t agree, he wasn’t worried—there would be plenty of time in the future.

That evening, An Liang told his parents he wanted to travel to Thailand. While his father An Shengyu strongly opposed the idea, his mother Sun Xia supported him, believing it would be good for him to get out and see the world. So with a two-to-one vote, An Liang and his mom overruled his dad.

An Shengyu could only give An Liang 10,000 yuan for the trip. An Liang accepted—after this Thailand trip, he would be able to show his funds openly.

The next day, An Liang boarded a first-class flight to Bangkok, Thailand’s capital. But once again, he was disappointed by the experience. Weren’t international flight attendants supposed to be beautiful?

Lies!

An Liang felt that his fantasies about flight attendants had been completely crushed. If anyone told him flight attendants were attractive again, he’d just laugh it off. After all, he couldn’t admit it was his bad luck, right?

Why was it that every time he flew, the flight attendants he saw weren’t attractive?

It couldn’t be his fault—clearly the world was wrong, the airline was wrong—the entire world and every airline were conspiring against him!

Bangkok, Capital of Thailand.

As soon as An Liang stepped off the plane, the Life Winner System issued a new notification.

[“Ding!”

“Congratulations, host, for setting foot in a foreign land. To ensure a smooth travel experience in Thailand, the system has granted you: [Fluent Thai Language Skills].”

“Please note: Information on Rinan Investment Company has been sent to you.”

“Special reminder: Rinan Investment Company has already arranged for staff to receive you.”].

An Liang reviewed the Life Winner System’s message in his mind and once again felt impressed—of course the system directly rewarded him with fluent Thai, removing any language barriers.

Although Thai people generally understood Mandarin and English, being fluent in Thai was obviously a major plus. He then looked into Rinan Investment Company. It was a virtual currency investment firm based in Bangkok, and its major shareholder was Song Ren—a highly influential figure in Thailand.

According to the system, he and Song Ren were sworn brothers, so there was absolutely no need to worry about safety.

When An Liang reached the international arrivals exit, he indeed saw two Thai locals holding signs with his name, written in both Mandarin and English—clearly staff from Rinan Investment Company.

As he walked over, they spotted him first. The system had already arranged everything—everyone in the company knew who An Liang was.

“Hello, Mr. An. Welcome to Thailand.” One middle-aged man greeted him in heavily accented Mandarin. “My name is Machai. I’m in charge of all your arrangements here in Thailand. If you need anything, just contact me.”

An Liang nodded slightly and responded in Thai, “What plans has Brother Song Ren made?”

Machai was slightly surprised—he hadn’t expected An Liang to speak Thai, and so fluently at that.

“The boss instructed us to take you to the company first.” Machai replied.

“Alright then, let’s go.” An Liang responded.

“This way, please.” Machai gestured.

Outside the airport, a black Bentley was waiting, flanked by two black Mercedes-Benz cars for protection. Machai opened the Bentley’s rear door for An Liang and then got into the front passenger seat.

The Bentley drove off smoothly and, about half an hour later, arrived in central Bangkok. The car entered an underground parking lot beneath a skyscraper. With Machai leading the way, An Liang was taken to the 68th floor.

As soon as the elevator doors opened, a young man came forward and gave An Liang a big hug.

“Bro! You finally made it. We’ve already tested your new algorithm—our profits this month are up 37%!”

An Liang smiled and replied, “That’s great!”

“By the way, bro, here’s a share transfer agreement. Once you sign this, you’ll officially become the second-largest shareholder of Rinan Investment Company.”

In Song Ren’s office, he handed the agreement to An Liang.

An Liang gave it a quick look and signed it without hesitation. If the Life Winner System had already arranged it, how could there be a problem?
