Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Mr. Chen, I’ll remember you for a lifetime!
Liao Ruoji was busy cutting vegetables while awkwardly responding.
"Of course it’s for that person. Otherwise, why would I go all the way to Tianhai?"
Shaking her head slightly, Liao Ruoli appeared serious.
"But I remember you have no feelings for that person at all, and the one who picked me up at the airport this time was Chen Bin, not him."
Liao Ruoji said nothing, lowering her head as if lost in thought.
Liao Ruoli continued, "Sis, in this world, no one knows you better than I do. As your sister, I have to remind you: our family won’t approve of Chen Bin. Don’t do something foolish."
Rolling her eyes at Liao Ruoli, Liao Ruoji retorted irritably.
"I know what I’m doing. You should worry about yourself instead."
"Tsk, what’s there for me to worry about? I have a truckload of admirers chasing after me. I’ll just take my time picking one."
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. It was Chen Bin, returning with the small cakes he had gone out to buy.
The next stretch of time, Liao Ruoji cooked while Liao Ruoli and Chen Bin helped out.
The three chatted casually as they prepared the food, and time flew by.
When the dishes were finally served at the table, a thought occurred to Liao Ruoji, and she looked at Liao Ruoli.
"How’s that city planning project you were working on last time? Has it made any progress?"
Sighing, Liao Ruoli’s expression turned awkward.
"Not good. I’ve already given up on it."
"Didn’t you plan to make a name for yourself with it? Why the sudden abandonment?"
"There’s nothing I could do. I spent half a year meticulously designing it, but when I submitted it to the city government, they said no. What else could I do?"
"What specifically did they disapprove of?"
"They thought my city planning was too forward-thinking. The mayor there didn’t dare implement it."
"Then why not revise it according to their preferences? After all, they’re the client."
"No way. When it comes to urban planning, I know what I’m doing. I won’t let some outsider mess it up."
Listening to their conversation, Chen Bin suddenly recalled Liao Ruoli’s comments about Tianhai during their last meeting.
Now it was evident that she was undoubtedly an excellent urban planner.
He quickly chimed in, "Ruoli, do you think Dragon Mountain has anything that needs improvement?"
"Dragon Mountain? The areas needing improvement are pretty much endless! But given the current lack of funds, it’s best to allocate resources to essential needs. As for planning, that can wait for the future."
After dinner, remembering that they didn’t fully enjoy their last outing, Chen Bin decided to take the two sisters to Shiqiao Town for some fun.
After all, the place was known for its abundance of small animals, which girls tend to like.
They drove all the way to their destination, where Yao Pang, upon hearing their plans, personally guided the three up the mountain.
Seeing the surrounding wildlife, including wild rabbits, Liao Ruoli couldn’t contain her excitement and began chasing after the rabbits.
The mountain paths were rugged and difficult to navigate.
Liao Ruoji urged Chen Bin to follow closely, lest Liao Ruoli encounter any danger.
Chen Bin hesitated no more and quickly caught up with Liao Ruoli, immediately cautioning her.
"Slow down! Your sister’s still behind us!"
Annoyed, Liao Ruoli pushed him aside.
"Ugh, move out of the way! I’m about to catch that rabbit!"
Seeing her so engrossed, Chen Bin had no choice but to continue following behind.
Still, he didn’t forget to remind her, "Slow down! Don’t twist your ankle!"
Liao Ruoli ignored him completely, continuing her pursuit.
"Ahhh!"
Hearing her sudden scream, Chen Bin rushed over to help.
But to their astonishment, their bodies suddenly dropped downward—they had fallen into a deep pit together.
A wave of intense pain washed over them, leaving Chen Bin sprawled on the ground for quite some time before he managed to sit up.
Looking up, he realized they were trapped in a pit at least three stories deep.
Glancing at the now-standing and visibly annoyed Liao Ruoli, irritation flashed across his face.
"I told you not to run, yet you insisted. Now look what’s happened! What are we supposed to do?"
Faced with his accusation, Liao Ruoli grew equally irritated, snapping back.
"It’s all your fault with your constant bad omens! You always say the worst things, and now we’re in a pit—blaming me, seriously?"
Finding her argument nonsensical, Chen Bin turned his head away in frustration.
But as time passed, a growing sense of fear and guilt surged within Liao Ruoli, causing her to sob softly.
Feeling a pang of sympathy, Chen Bin gently poked her arm.
"Stop crying. I said those things in the heat of the moment. I’ll apologize, okay?"
His apology did nothing to calm her down; in fact, it made her angrier.
"That’s such a perfunctory apology! You clearly don’t understand your mistake! I’ve lived all these years without any man besides my dad blaming me. Chen, I’m holding this grudge forever!"
Seeing her act so adorably vexed, Chen Bin couldn’t resist making light of the situation.
"Forever? Isn’t that unfair to your future husband?"
"You jerk, I’ll fight you!"
Unable to verbally outwit Chen Bin, Liao Ruoli stood up, preparing to settle the score physically.
Chen Bin grabbed her wrist and swiftly pulled her into his embrace.
"All right, all right! Don’t get angry. I’m apologizing, okay?"
"Hmph! You think I’ll forgive you?"
Sitting awkwardly in Chen Bin’s lap, she wiggled a bit before breaking into tears again.
With no other options, Chen Bin resorted to child-like methods to pacify her.
He gently patted her on the back.
"This isn’t the time for tears. We need to work together to find a way out of here. If your sister can’t find us, we can’t possibly spend the night here, can we?"
"Tsk, who wants to spend the night with you?!"
Wiping away her tears, Liao Ruoli promptly stood up.
She looked up at the towering pit, looking lost.
"How are we supposed to climb out of something so tall?"
Chen Bin speculated that the pit must have been dug by hunters as a trap for animals.
Without external help, escape seemed impossible.
"How about you stand on my shoulders and try?"
Having no other choice, Liao Ruoli nodded.
Chen Bin squatted down, allowing her to step on his shoulders, and slowly stood up to let her reach the edge of the pit.
But with the pit so deep, Liao Ruoli couldn’t even come close to climbing out.
She slammed the side of the pit in frustration and yelled at the top of her voice.
"Is anyone out there? Help!"
Despite her slender figure, she wasn’t light at all.
Down below, Chen Bin was groaning under the weight, eventually suggesting.
"Just come down. We’re probably the only four people on this mountain, and with no response from your sister, no one will hear us."
Jumping back down from his shoulders, Liao Ruoli sighed softly.
"Are we really going to spend the night here? There’s no food. What are we going to do?"
Chen Bin took out his phone to try calling Liao Ruoji, only to find there was no signal.
Calmly, he replied.
"Don’t worry. Your sister will definitely find us."
Before long, the sky grew darker and darker.
Boom! Boom!
The rain came pouring down, but Liao Ruoji was nowhere in sight...
