The Strongest Curse Master
Chapter 385: Uninvited Guests

Chapter 385: Uninvited Guests

“Ace, you sure it’s okay to lie on government documents? Won’t they verify it?” Lyra asked, as the brother and sister pair walked out of the wood palace, fresh and clean, heading downstairs to have breakfast and get Lyra registered with the government before Ace’s enemies use it as a reason to kick down their door.

At first, Lyra was frightened by the idea of the government registering all curse users. Having read enough comics and thought up enough comic plots to draw, she knew it never ended well for all involved, so she was reluctant.

Ace tried to persuade her, saying it was the same as getting a driving, gun, doctor’s, or any other legal license. It was a way for you to ensure your government that you will use your skills and knowledge responsibly, and if you ever step out of line, you will be counting on them to stop you for the safety of others and yourself.

Listening to her baby bro’s point, Lyra thought her brother needs to hit the comic store and get his worldview fixed. Still, she agreed to get registered, knowing she had to play the game or go home, which in this case meant being sent to a concentration camp or worse, death.

While Ace was trying to slowly ease his sister into the cursed reality, Lyra had already formed a tunnel opinion of the mortal world’s curse community and the ‘World of Curses’ with her abundant knowledge from novels, comics, and movies. She was beginning to understand her baby bro’s rules now. Had her baby bro led with the fact that the government wants the curse users to register with them, the conversation last night would have gone differently.

Noticing the change in Lyra, the Toy Summons began to blame Ace, claiming he was infecting his sister with his twisted world views. It’s a new world out there, an unknown world. It’s easier for one to fear it instead of curiously exploring it with an open mind. Especially, for the ‘World of Curses.’ Being with Ace, Lyra slowly made the same assumptions and came to the same conclusions as her baby bro did when he learned about the ‘World of Curses.’

They did not blame Ace for his twisted world view after the mindbending welcome into this world he received from the S.S.S., but they hoped Ace would give his sister a warmer welcome, considering how established he was in his field, instead of projecting his fears onto her. They felt pity seeing a curious and creative mind like Lyra’s slowly closing itself to the possibilities of the brand new world. They thought Lyra would be the key that would open their Master’s mind to other possibilities in the ‘World of Curses,’ but turns out their master was the lock limiting Lyra’s mind.

“Just do as I say, and no one will trouble you,” Ace said confidently. Thanks to DD’s pollens, he now had a hack to all of C.I.B’s known methods to make it seem like Lyra was telling the truth, even if it was obvious to the viewer that she was lying. He planned to use the same trick to fill his own registration form that was lying at EAD Matthews’ desk next to the employment contract she drafted for him.

“I can’t understand what’s wrong with that boy. Why would he reject a perfect girl like you? Well, his loss. Anyways, do you want some honey butter or maple syrup with those pancakes?”

“Honey butter, Mrs. Lander.”

Overhearing the conversation downstairs, Ace froze for a second, recognizing his mother and the uninvited guest’s voice. Then he rushed downstairs, leaving his sister behind to find Ava and Sonia at his family’s dining table. Seeing them laughing and eating his breakfast, Ace lost it; he rushed into the kitchen.

Seeing him arrive, Mandy commented, “Look, Ace, your stalker is here. And she brought a friend with her.” She didn’t know what Mary was thinking, inviting the two creepy girls for breakfast.

Ignoring Mandy, Ace glared at Ava, his gaze swifting between her and Sonia as he ordered, “Leave!”

Listening to Ace, the smile on Ava and Sonia’s faces vanished while Mary informed, trying to smooth things between Ava and Ace, “Young man, you don’t have to be so rude. Ava was here to check if the sheriff’s office was still giving us any trouble and if she could help. Ain’t she sweet?”

“Mom, let me see these two out first,” Ace said, trying to sound as polite as possible while the rest of the family paused their breakfast, Pam lowered the gas, and turned to look at Ace and Mary in silence. Waiting for a drama to unfold, even though they already knew Mary would come out on top, they wanted to know if Ace would come out in one piece or require a doctor.

Ignoring his family, Ace warned Sonia by mouthing in a low frequency audible enough for her dog ears, “Oil mercenary is a risky job, every day many die on the job due to negligence in following proper safety protocols. You don’t want your father to be a part of those statistics, do you?”

Sonia immediately got up from her seat and grabbed Ace by the collar, as her eyes began to glow radiantly and her lips parted to reveal sharp fangs while letting out a low growl. Fortunately, mortals couldn’t see the changes brought by curse energy.

Ava, in her panic, instantly grabbed Sonia’s wrist and dragged her toward the exit, yelling, “Thank you for the breakfast, Mrs. Lander.”

However, on their way out, they saw Lyra by the stairs. Ava just brushed past her, dragging her rowdy plus one. Meanwhile, Sonia turned to face Ace and began to grin widely. Seeing this, Ace smirked without a care, knowing she was in for the surprise of a lifetime if she decided to go after his big sister.

“Geez, isn’t she dressed for Halloween too soon?” Lyra awkwardly tried to cover for Sonia’s glowing eyes and fangs, not knowing that it was unnecessary.
