Chapter 82: Adam’s Indifference
Another soldier quickly followed, kneeling with both hands raised. "Only Lord Zero has the heart to wipe out a planet with such beauty and grace. That death ball... it was like a sun made by divine hands."
More soldiers joined in, trying to gain favor.
"Even the gods of old would kneel before your strength!"
"Your eyes see through all life. Your words decide who lives and who dies."
"A single finger from Lord Zero can crush worlds! You are the law of the universe!"
Zero did not speak. He simply kept drinking, his face calm.
One more soldier spoke louder than the others, trying to outdo the rest. "To die under your hand is better than to live a million years in peace. May the next planet learn to bow before your shadow!"
The air grew quiet. Zero slowly turned his head toward that last soldier. The soldier froze, sweat rolling down his back.
Then Zero gave a soft smile.
"That was not bad," he said.
The soldier let out a deep breath, as if he had been holding his breath underwater.
The others looked at him with envy, but none dared speak.
Zero stood slowly from his seat. "Prepare the fleet. We move to the next planet. More Helixes are waiting for me."
"Yes, Lord Zero!" they all said at once, their voices full of fear and worship.
They followed like sheep, praising the devil in the body of a man.
...
"You have work to do. Three planets were eradicated in just a few minutes. As a god, it’s one of your obligation to kill or chase away villains that destroys the planet unhinged. They’re not Gods of Destruction to do so." With a teaching tone, Adam looked in a certain direction with distant eyes. "This is a violation of Tribunal Decree 1928. As a punishment, you must kill the culprit, do you understand?"
In the faraway edge of the galaxy, Ian, whose eyes were tightly shut, suddenly opened his eyes. "Hmmm... Three planets perished simultaneously in a span of minutes under my jurisdiction? What happened?" He quickly stood up with a frown on his face.
He felt upset that someone actually dared to cause trouble this time when he wasn’t on his territory.
He looked at Adam and asked. "Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Why did you fucking wait for three planets to be be destroyed?"
"You must be misunderstanding. It’s not the job of the Devils to save planets. That’s your role. The only thing we do is to guide you to the clear path. To avoid detours."
Adam spoke calmly as if the lives of the three planets didn’t concern him a bit.
"So you knew in advance the arrival of the culprit and what was about to happen, but you actually deliberately told me when they had already been destroyed. For what? To familiarize with God’s obligations?" Ian sighed. "You’re really emotionless, aren’t you? The lives of mortals might not be even as worthy as insects in your eyes."
Adam’s gaze landed on Ian’s face. "Gods don’t need emotions to do their jobs. You must practice this aspect if you want to do your job without stressing yourself with the life of short-lived creatures."
’Is this how higher existences think? They’re no different than AI, Chatgpt in my past life might be even better than them in terms of displaying emotions... At least, chatbots know how to pretend.’
"So, who are the culprits this time?" Ian voiced out.
To be able to destroy three planets in such a short time. Even throughout the Universe, the enemy was no pushover. He just doesn’t know how that bastard would fare against a god like him.
Adam snapped his fingers, and with a flick, the space began to ripple in waves. Then, a projection appeared that displayed the spaceship of the Destruction Legion.
"It’s your job to investigate, but since it’s your first time. I’ll give you a brief overview of your target."
As he said this, Adam began to tap his forehead rhythmically, as if trying to access the depths of information in his mind. This was one of his Devil abilities called Archive of Our Own. The effect of the ability was simply to store information, retrieve it with keywords and brain commands. It also directly transmits his insights and in-depth analysis he had with the retrieved information.
"Zero, Emperor of the Universe, had a group of elite soldiers known as the Destruction Legion. So far, he had conquered the South and the East. According to the insight I had a hundred years ago, he seems to want to gather the Helixes in order to truly realize his ambition to fully rule the First Universe...
This Zero doesn’t have information about God’s or the Realm of Gods, as it appears that he hasn’t manifested signs of being able to harness Divine KI.
His space is also known as XYZ 124, equipped with a plasma gun that could destroy a large planet. Lastly, Zero comes from a race called Cold Freak, once a supreme race that had been extinct due to their abnormally low fertility rate...
It’s worth mentioning that each Cold Freak actually had the potential to reach the power of gods at their peak through raw physical strength and energy level alone, without wielding divine Ki. Of course, that’s only potential, but so far, only three members throughout the race’s existence have reached that level.
Their race is unique as they are born with the power level to destroy a star, and they have three transformations they could unlock as they further develop and unearth their bloodline’s potential.
"They thirst for destruction, chaos, and cruelty. They’re an innately cold-blooded race with almost zero empathy."
Hearing this, Ian raised an eyebrow in surprise. "That’s impressive... I think their low fertility rate had something to do with their immense strength and talent. No wonder they’re extinct. Their race is just pure evil. They might have made countless enemies due to their nature."
"Bring it on. Can you bring me near him? I think he’s about to destroy another planet if I’m too late."
