Chapter 62: Froze Froze Plant
"Good Afternoon, I would like to register as an Adventurer."
Ian said to the receptionist, with Natasha and Jake behind him in tow.
Seeing Ian’s easy-going smile, the receptionist didn’t say much. Her eyes had a hidden gleam, and she looked upset. She pushed the paper and pen to Ian with an annoyed expression. She didn’t even give any instructions and just sat in her chair.
’What’s wrong with this damned girl?’
Ian wasn’t someone offended easily. After all, not taking things personally was his forte. So, he just took the paper and glanced at it.
On the other hand, Natasha raised an eyebrow at this. ’What a bitch. If she knew that it was the King of the Blood Realm that was in front of her, should would have probably kneeled directly on the floor begging for mercy.’
"Mikaela, that’s not how you cater a newbie..."
Jake slammed the desk with his palm, causing it to tremble. He looked at the receptionist with serious eyes.
"J-jake... Why are you..."
The receptionist, whose name was Mikaela, gave a puzzled expression. Every golden-ranked adventurer wasn’t someone a receptionist like her could disrespect.
Most of the time, Jake behaves politely and amiably with everyone, even with his status, and due to that, he has earned the respect of everyone.
At this time, the adventurers’ attention was inevitably drawn by the commotion.
"I didn’t do anything to them."
Mikaela said in a low voice.
Jake smashed the table with her fist.
Bang!
"You didn’t do anything, but your poor behavior undermines the reputation of the guild!" With a low growl, Jake glared at the female receptionist.
Mikaela trembled at this moment. She knew that she was done for. It’s either she gets fired or has her salary deducted. But if she apologized now, she knew that there was still a way out. Mikaela understood that it doesn’t matter if she didn’t do something wrong or not. What matters is that she made a gold-ranked adventurer angry.
The guildmaster, one of the few diamond-ranked, was known to have an extreme way of punishment.
"I-I I’m sorry." Teary-eyed, Mikaela knew not to be stubborn.
Seeing this, Jake nodded. "Why are you apologizing to me? I do not need that."
’Huh?’ Mikael was a bit confused, but then she realized something and looked at Ian with her head low, still teary-eyed. "I apologize, sir, for my previous misconduct! Please, take it upon yourself to forgive my rudeness!"
"Forget it. Not a big deal." Ian simply smiled gently.
Jake heaved a sigh of relief as he saw this and finally smiled. Normally, he wouldn’t do such a thing. However, he realized that Ian wasn’t simple after he witnessed the Arch-Arachnid’s fear. Ian managed to intimidate a diamond-ranked adventurer with just a harmless glance... How could he simple?
If angered, Ian might bury everyone here in the guild, including him. In his life, there’s no shortage of such precedents. Ian might look friendly, but who knows if that were really the case, right?
Fortunately, Ian seems to be really as easy-going as he shows, not easily offended, and just chill.
"Who is that guy beside Sir Jake? He actually became angry on his stead? Could it be a platinum adventurer?"
"Are you not fucking listening? That man was just about to resister and the cause of conflict is that bitchy receptionist. So I think he’s a newbie with a prominent background."
"Shhh! Lower your voice or Sir Jake might get angry again."
"Ha! Serves that woman, right! She’s always like that towards newbies and Bronze adventurers like me. She always act high and mighty as if she finds us not worth her time... It’s that she got embarassed like this."
"In my opinion, she should be fired immediately!"
Mikaela looked at Ian pitifully. ’I’m done for! I hope this doesn’t reach the guildmaster’s ears.’
"Guest, let me lead you to the testing room ahead of time to make up for my behavior just now." She stammered for a while before she stood up and briskly walked to a black door with pineapple symbol. "This is the testing room."
Ian looked at Jake which prompted Jake to say. "Go on. Usually, you need to wait fifteen days to get tested but since she says that you can now be tested. It would save you a lot of time."
Ian nodded with a smile, folowed Mikaela, and before saying: "Natasha, wait for me. Don’t strut around or you’ll get lost."
"Good luck, King!"
Natasha shouted as a response only to realized how she addressed Ian. SHe quickly shut her mouth.
Jake’s eyes narrowed but he didn’t say anything. He looked at Ian’s receding back lost in thought.
...
Inside the resting room, Ian briefly scanned his newfound surrounding, carefully, as to not miss any details. The temperature in the testing room seems to be vastly different than outside. Then, Ian saw a plant that kept releasing white cold air at a rapid rate.
This plant had blue steam, and three layers of frost had formed on its leaves. This was the first time that Ian had saw such a plant so he couldn’t but give it a second glance.
"Dear Guest, that is called Froze Froze Plant. It’s role is similar to Air-con of Human World that lowers the temperature of the room to preferences of people inside. The plant could sense the specific desire of the sum of the people inside the room and adjust the temperature accordingly."
Mikaela introduced witha well-behaved expression, devoid of her previous expression of non-chalance.
"I see..." Ian adopted a Sasuke-meme like expression on his face as he rested his chin on the back of his hand. "Such a magic ability is indeed intersting."
Mikaele strutted on the back of a white big marble and said with reverence. "This is a special marble procured by the guildmaster outside our galaxy that could accurately measure the energy level of an attack through various factors such as kinetic energy, impact, velocity, etc..."
’Outside the fucking galaxy? Just what is Guildmaster’s identity?’
Ian secretly thought in wonder.
