Chapter 33: Names

"Well..." Vacuse paused. "Then I have little to worry about for now then."

The Void Dragon nodded. "They won’t bother you for now. They shouldn’t, but then, that’s just it. Anything can happen, brat! So you better try to be powerful as fast as you can as well!"

Vacuse nodded. That was part of his goals and ambitions. How would he rule the Vorrakyn without power or carry out his revenge?

Vacuse took a deep breath. He assessed the situation again.

This Dragon called itself SSS, and from the reactions of the SS Dragons that he saw, he knew the Void Dragon was powerful and terrifying.

Vacuse took a deep breath. ’...I’ll take the risk...’

"Very well, Void Dragon. I accept!"

A light flashed in the Dragon’s purple eyes, and it smiled a slow smile. "Congratulations, brat. I will show you what true height of power is."

Vacuse shrugged. "So what now?"

Void Dragon nodded, his face becoming serious. "I will share my name with you, and that will bound me to your soul. Then you have become a Soulbearer."

In his last life, it was the same thing that happened, but Vacuse was a bit anxious since the Dragon before him was on a whole different level.

Void Dragon seemed to sense it as well. "Don’t worry. The nature of the Pathway is naturally favorable to you humans. You don’t have to worry."

"Then what is the benefit to you? You talked about inheriting your enemies, but they’re obviously above me. What exactly are you going to gain from this?" Vacuse needed to know what the Void Dragon would gain; only then would his true intentions be known—at the very least, he would catch a glimpse of it.

The Void Dragon raised his hand. The chain bound tightly against his flesh. "I will be able to get out of this. Your soul space power will make my escape possible."

Vacuse watched him, and then he nodded, his mind already made up. He walked closer to the Void Dragon until he was standing just inches away. "I am Vacuse Vorrakyn."

The Void Dragon nodded, his face was serious. "I am Ulvakharion’tel Nyxarith."

His words were not just mere words. They were power, and when he said it, the name was like small knives as it drilled into Vacuse’s ears and settled in him like a physical thing.

His eyes widened, and he felt something in his soul space that wasn’t there before. It was a darkness without end, and it was taking root in his soul space. "What is this?"

But the Void Dragon didn’t speak, not immediately. His purple eyes shone with a light that pierced through Vacuse. "My name. You know it, Vacuse Vorrakyn. I share it willingly. Now say it!"

Vacuse opened his mouth to deny, to say that he didn’t know it and that it was a fluke, but as he opened his mouth, words that he didn’t know he could speak fell from his mouth. Each syllable was like an arrow of undiluted power, and it shook the space around him.

"Ulvakharion’tel Nyxarith!"

Just as he said it, something happened.

An explosion happened inside him. It was as if a flood was opened in his soul space. The dark energy turned into crushing waves, and all the Force in him was converted into Void Force.

That was the work of the Bound.

They change the energy into their specific energy so that the Soulbearer can use that type of energy. In this instance, Vacuse had turned into a Void Soulbearer.

All the Force that he cultivated from there on would be turned into Void energy—Void Force.

Vacuse opened his eyes, and his senses became sharper. He could see in the dark as surely as if it was day, but all around him, all he saw was emptiness.

And the Void Dragon.

He could feel the Void Dragon in a way that was so unexpected. It was different from the Bound in his other life. What Vacuse felt horrified and firmed his resolve at the same time.

The Void Dragon was powerful. So powerful that Vacuse felt so insignificant standing so close to him.

But.

"Eh? I see two looks on your face. You can feel my powers now, can’t you?" The Void Dragon shook his body, and the chains fell from him unceremoniously. He looked at Vacuse curiously. "But that other look, I don’t understand it."

But.

Vacuse smiled. "You have just reminded me how far I want to reach."

Void Dragon threw his head back and laughed. "Good! I was once like you. I looked up to someone from below as well, and they reminded me always of how puny I was."

"Did you reach them?" Vacuse asked in curiosity.

Void Dragon shook his head. "No. They are still out of my reach, but I am back now, and I will make a lot of wrongs right."

Vacuse frowned. "So what now? I should be returning."

Void Dragon shook his head. "About that. I still have a lot of work to do here. It’s been too long. I have to get my powers back and prepare for my enemies."

Vacuse raised his brows without saying anything.

Void Dragon smirked. He reached up to his horns and snapped one off as if he was breaking a twig. He stared at the dark horn with a mournful look, then he threw it up.

The horn rotated for a while, shuddered, and turned into a small Dragonet with wings. "This is my clone. It’ll enable me to keep my eyes on you and will guide you on how to use your powers. Show you techniques and all that."

"It’s basically like having any other Dragon with you. I bet you can’t finish learning from it before I’m done with my business here."

The Dragonet flew at Vacuse and rested on his shoulder. "Brat!"

If Vacuse had thought it was cute before, it was completely ruined because the voice that came out of the creature was rough and loud.

Void Dragon looked at him. "I respect the fire of ambition in your eyes, brat. Don’t fall short."

Vacuse smirked. "Don’t get captured. It’ll be a disgrace if I have to come and bail my Dragon out."

Void Dragon snorted, and then he was gone.
