Chapter 30: Open sky

Stone Dragon and Lightning Dragon focused their attention on the smiling one and there was no hint of a smile on their own faces.

"You are not wanted here," Lightning Dragon particularly growled, his voice rumbling like the thunder in the sky.

Stone Dragon nodded along. "You are not needed either!"

The smile on the new Dragon faded. "You can’t deny me the right to get a Bound. You do not have the power either."

The two other Dragons froze. And if Vacuse thought there was tension before, it was nothing compared to what happened next where everything felt as if they were submerged in the deep sea.

"We don’t have the power? Is that what you say, Imagine Dragon?" the Stone Dragon said flatly.

’...Imagine Dragon...’ Vacuse stored it in his mind. For Great Beasts like the S and SS Ranked Dragons, they have names, true names that wouldn’t be told to just anyone. Hence, they were usually known by the type of powers they have because even other Dragons don’t know each other’s names.

The Lightning Dragon laughed. "You are powerful, Imagine Dragon. But so am I!"

"Enough!" And yet another voice snapped.

Another man floated into view. He was the oldest man that Vacuse had ever seen. His face was completely hidden under layers of wrinkles and even his mouth couldn’t be seen as he spoke. "You know, you are going to destroy the first soul that appears in the longest time if you start fighting now."

Vacuse sighed internally. Yet another one. ’...so what am I going to do? Let me think about this in the most logical way... Lightning Dragon would probably be good for me because of the type of offensive power it would provide...’

’...Stone Dragon is also good but I think it’s going to lack the flexibility that I need the most...’

As for the others, he knew little about their powers.

The three yet again turned to the newcomer. Imagine Dragon rolled his eyes. "Come on! You’re the youngest among us. Don’t tell us you’re here to pick him up too?"

The youngest, that Vacuse thought was the oldest, shook his head. "No. Why should I bother? Even now the Elders are coming here to share from the ’good news,’ the whole of the Sixth Realm is waking up and even those in deep slumbers don’t want to miss this opportunity.

"But I wouldn’t bother if I were you."

Strangely, they didn’t get angry when he said all that and they actually listened to him.

"Why do you say so, Youngest? Why should I not bother?" Stone Dragon asked.

Lightning Dragon nodded as well while Imagine Dragon kept quiet and simply watched.

"Because I looked into the smallest pinch of future not long ago."

"And?" There was a note of anxiousness in Stone Dragon’s voice.

The Youngest shook his head. "None of you guys are going to get him. Not even me. Or anyone here."

Vacuse was still reeling with the fact that the new Dragon called Youngest could see the future—the kind of power that would be good for those that plot against him—when he realized that everything had become strangely silent.

He looked up in surprise. "What is happening?"

All the Dragons had turned to look at him with sharp attention that made his skin crawl and his heart start beating faster.

What did the Youngest say again? That no one will be Bounding with him there? Vacuse was confused. ’...isn’t this the Sixth and Final Realm? What do they mean by no one will be Bounding with me here?...’

The Stone Dragon stomped her feet. "No. That’s impossible. You’re lying so that you can find a way to snatch him."

Lightning Dragon nodded with a worried expression. "I can’t help but support that. There is no way what you are implying can happen."

Imagine Dragon coughed. "Even I don’t take my jokes that far."

But the Youngest didn’t seem bothered. He simply pointed up. "Well...."

Everyone looked up, including Vacuse.

And what he saw sent a chill down his spine.

The previously silver-covered sky was turning dark, black rolling waves were consuming the lightning sky rapidly, so fast that the whole sky churned.

The Dragons froze. There was sheer shock on their faces as if they just saw a Wyvern stand up to them.

"Impossible!" Lightning Dragon shouted, his eyes flashed with silver brilliance and his image flickered as if he was a mere projection, an image of a Dragon overlapped with his human one.

"What’s happening?" Vacuse asked. Just by looking at the sky he already felt a sense of dread and terror. What is hiding behind that black fog that seems to be swallowing everything?

But none of the Dragons answered him.

Their faces were pensive and filled with equal measures of pain and anger.

The Youngest Dragon smiled, although it was lost to the wrinkles on his face. When he turned to Vacuse his gaze was sharp and piercing even though he couldn’t see his eyes.

"Vacuse Vorrakyn. We will meet again. You have a very interesting future... and a past."

Then he was gone as if he was nothing but a mirage.

"What the fuck...!!"

Vacuse was still trying to put together the cryptic message when something else happened.

The sky opened up.

Literally.

The dark wave had finished consuming their part of the sky and then it opened up like the eye of a tornado. A strong suction force blew inward and Vacuse was jerked up like a piece of paper.

The thing was, he was the only one getting pulled in.

The Dragons below roared and bellowed in anger. The place that Vacuse was standing in before, the mountain, began to move and then it raised its head and spread its wings.

The Stone Dragon? That was the last thing Vacuse thought before everything collapsed around him and he was thrown into a whirlwind of darkness and more darkness.

His sense of time and direction was lost and he was getting pulled in a current he couldn’t control.
