Chapter 61: One With The World

Even at the second level, I’m still not allowed to use it on people who don’t carry emotions or the feelings of them being inferior to me, and even more who think they are gods. A classic from the system, vague descriptions left to interpretation. I have greater control, but what can I do now that I couldn’t before? Well, I know I don’t have to use my hands, but that’s all.

I looked over at Ashen’s confused face, it was clear he had not expected me to have such power. And he shouldn’t have, as I literally just awakened it, I didn’t even know it would happen so he couldn’t know.

Yet on his face, still stood a smug look, not feeling even a little threatened. But that is to be expected, someone doesn’t lose their pride so easily. I stepped forward. The weight of the world parted, bending to my will. For the first time, I felt weightless, not as a man, but as a force.

’The ability to erase light, one to control the darkness, and one to use the energy of the world to your benefit. All are amazing skills.’ I said while circling around the one who controls the abyss. ’It’s my time now.’

With calm steps, he matched my pattern while laughing at my comments. Amazingly, he can continue to laugh and smile even after being indirectly threatened, and I’m sure he realizes what I was trying to say, he’s just too full of himself. "Oh? I see the Moon is very bold tonight."

As his words escaped his mouth, tentacles appeared from the abyss down below us, I could easily tell their trajectory. They were trying to swipe me off my feet, and then wrap around my body crushing each of my bones one by one. ’It’s daytime, you idiot.’

At that I’m sure of it, the world kneeled, it had recognized its one true ruler and the one who will conquer everything that exists. I was without restraint, a wild beast with no leash binding it to the past. In my mind, there was only one thought, to kill.

I found my body disappearing into the calm air, yet I didn’t feel like I was dying, on the contrary, I felt more alive than before. Instead of being one single piece on the board, I had become the game board itself. It was exactly what I had tried to achieve before entering this game.

I had entered the four dimensions, or something close to it.

The next time I opened my eyelids, I found myself falling, with monsters you only see in nightmares wrapped around my fragile body. But when I was supposed to continue my fall, my body had completely scattered into the air and manifested into the outside of the monster’s grasp.

Truly, even I couldn’t understand what was happening. My mind was blank like I was under anesthesia. I raised my hand up my face, seeing how my skin and bones decomposed into the world, becoming one with it. But I had not truly become one with the world, it was more like I was using the world to feed my power, the world had bowed its head.

I hadn’t become one with the world, the world had become one with me.

My face corrupted into a weak smile, as with the side of my eye, I gazed over at the abyss, which had lost some of its darkness. It seemed that even the ones with the most ego, fear reality. ’You have been living inside a nightmare for a while now, blinded by the darkness of your power.’ I said while my soul fully decomposed into something not existent, and manifested back into a human body all the way behind the darkness. ’I may not be a guiding light, but I know how to differentiate reality from the mind.’

His eyes locked on the floor, while his face became almost as dark as his soul. Had he finally realized that in front of him wasn’t a man anymore, but someone that had ascended into something more powerful than a beast?

It seems I was wrong. I watched as the psychotic bastard raised his face from the ground laughing like a madman. Even his eyes, which had been calm until now, were filled with light, almost like he had been waiting for something like this.

At that moment I’m sure of it, we both thought of the same thing. This will decide who survives, and who loses his identity to The Core.

The hall got submerged in the darkness, the monsters wrapping themselves around it. Normally, I would have definitely lost, I was practically in a spiderweb. The battlefield belonged to him now, he had taken control of it.

Well normally, but not now. I was in control of it way before he even stepped foot inside. It all belonged to me, everything. I had control over everything around me. Even these little monsters, now belonged to me.

I turned my head slightly, as the darkness approached from behind. But as it was about to bare its teeth into my neck. It froze into the air, and with my finger guiding it, it turned to its original master and ran straight into his shoulder.

Of course, there was no way for me to actually control them. What I was doing was controlling everything around them. They belonged to the world, they even had a mass. They weren’t something outside it, meaning they also belonged to me.

I tried to see Ashen’s reaction, so I got a little careless. Causing me not to notice the other monsters coming to devour me. But as their sharp teeth were about to touch my soft skin, I impulsively decayed into the world and later appeared elsewhere.

I did feel a little pathetic at the fact that I had no control over this skill. The world had allowed itself to be used as a tool, but instead of using it, I was allowing it to work on its own. I had no authority over when I escaped the real world and when I manifested back into it, nor the place where I became human again.

And I even said that my mind was blank. These are some of the after-effects of using your skill until failure.

I needed to finish this quickly. Or at least had to shatter his pride before I either lost consciousness or my skill deactivated, leaving me completely vulnerable.

On this last attack, I had to use it to its full potential. Until now, I had only used it on myself and the surrounding area of the monster that had tried to bite me.

The world, was so heavy resting on my shoulders. I felt my vision darkening as the pressure of everything that existed pressed against me, well not only me. I looked over at Ashen who was trying his best to stand his ground against the world’s pressure but failed and was being crushed by it. The floor around him shattered, as the pressure continued to intensify. But I can’t say I was doing any better.

At the moment, I was using the gravity that surrounded the whole battlefield, not just the one around either me or the opponent. But doing this and keeping myself unaffected by it was too draining, and so it was impossible with my mastery over this skill.

Damn it! It seems that my powers had failed me. But have they, it said that it couldn’t fully stop the pressure, not that it was completely unable to stop it. Meaning that I was under a weaker for than my opponent, so I should be able to resist longer than him.
