The SSS Beast King: Rebirth of the Legendary Predator -
Chapter 47: Cries Of Destiny
Chapter 47: Cries Of Destiny
I stood in an ancient hallway, damaged by the ruthless time, but at the same time, I could smell the metallic scent of the blood poured to make every detail perfect, and the saltiness of their tears and sweat made my nose itchy. Darkness awaited at the end of the eternal hallway, the ruthless wood scraping my feet as I walked only disturbed by my own thoughts.
The light flickers constantly, creating a dark and eerie atmosphere. I could feel the hands of many faceless creatures trying to drag me down below, where the forgotten dwelled. The nameless. Those who were hated by fate, and lost their identity.
It became harder to walk, and breathing was something that required more effort than usual. The more I got enveloped by the darkness, the more paranoid I got.
Around me, figures surrounded. With their hollow eyes, they stared into my black soul, I knew them once, but I just couldn’t figure out who they were exactly, their faces were blurred to me, and only those soulless eyes were visible to me.
I felt them whisper into my ear, laughing and calling my name, trying to make me become one of them. The pressure of their words made me doubt my decision, but I ignored them, and just continued to advance into the abyss. Until I saw the flickering light shine into the marble glass of a broken mirror.
It reminded me of another time when I had stepped into the cold arms of darkness and had found a lonely mirror. And unlike that time, I saw a little dragon inside. Its dark scales shined like the moon, and its amethyst eyes were filled with stares, each filled with hope and my foolish curiosity.
It was like looking at my soul, not my body. But whenever I moved, the dragon stayed still. It was like I wasn’t a part of me anymore like it was waiting for its true owner. Was it that bad, that even the reflection didn’t recognize its master?
I didn’t see myself in those eyes anymore, just an empty void with only my feelings left.
’Who are you?’ That question lingered in my mind. An answer without a question, one that I couldn’t answer even if I wanted to. Who even am I?
Was I a beast, or was I human? Was I a great king, who ruled over The Core for decades, or was I a normal human who wished to step foot into this cursed world for whatever ridiculous reason there might be?
Had I lost my true self, and had become what I hated most, or was this just an illusion to make me even more isolated from my past? A scheme to make me accept my humanity.
’I am... Destiny’ I wasn’t a human, and would never be. I’ll crawl out of this hellhole with my identity intact, even if that means sacrificing other, or little pieces of what I am today. I will never fall to such tricks, I will never... accept humanity.
[You have regained a part of your existence.]
I felt the eyes of the dragon move, staring at me. It smiled, as the crawling hand let go of my legs, and the voices stopped. I felt light my body was a careless feather slowly descending into the sky full of little stars.
I looked back and saw nothing. The flickering light had regained its power and was shining to its fullest, while the hollow eyes that had been staring at me, had disappeared, and in their place, beautiful flowers bloomed.
I looked back at the mirror and saw my reflection, with the small dragon long gone. I hesitated, but I slowly put my hand on the mirror, my reflection following my every move. As our hands touched, I woke up, but was I the same as I was when I entered the world of dreams?
...
I opened my eyelids, letting myself get absorbed into the warm gaze of the shining sun. I smiled, as I wiped tears from my eyes. Did I really cry in my sleep... how pathetic.
’I... am a beast’ I said while looking at the golden tears flowing from my hurt eyes onto the soft sheets of my simple bed. These tears, as vulnerable as they made me look, showed my true self. Unlike human tears, a beast’s cry is golden. And that is figurative and literary.
A beast cries tears of gold, as our emotions aren’t as developed as humans, so we don’t feel sadness as often as humans, but whenever we do, that means our souls are crying. I looked over at the system message in front of me and laughed.

I guess it made sense, I lost my human existence. But my past as a beast still remained, so that meant I hadn’t fully disappeared, just my humanity. Moon... was no more, just... Destiny.
I had fully embraced my beast past and had accepted my system name.
Every beast has two names, one that defines them to themselves, and one that classifies them, that is a system name. You see them when you kill a best, or when you contract with them. "You have killed a best, Lizard", that is a system name. But for stronger beasts, even their system name is unique, one-to-one. And It was time for me to accept this name.
I walked to the door and slowly opened it. Behind the door, I found a familiar face.
"Moon, come on it’s time for us to vote someone out!" A pink hairball was waiting for me beyond the brown door. She seemed paranoid, but why? Hadn’t we won immunity, a beast like me... could never understand the nature of humanity.
’I’ll be there in just a minute Anri. Oh and... call me Destiny.’
