Vol. 1 - Ch. 12 - New Friends

Now that he has accepted my proposal for a team.

"Activate twin magic circle, darkwave!"

First, I increased the power of the dark attribute with the dark world black field and then released two dark waves toward the end of guards. Then, I commanded the demon fire wisp to start bombarding them from the air with dark attribute magic.

"Kyaaaah!"

"Wow!"

 It worked. Their strength has been reduced to half, and some even died in the [surprise attack]. This is what happens when you let your guard down, you idiots!

"Go and... blow up."

Jigoro was also surprised to see me fighting. He must have expected someone with a more muscular and demonic appearance.

 There was a bandit girl behind me from some group. She probably has a higher level of [stealthy foot], [stealth], and [surprise attack] than I do.

 But that much is assumed, but she was able to dodge my traps.

 I guess the trap is not activated. Otherwise she should have gotten caught. I turned around slowly, and there were tentacles hovering in the air.

I killed the girl instantly, and her body disappeared.

Now, the tentacles slipped back into the depths of the forest. It looked like it wasn't attacking me but protecting me from the girl trying to kill me.

"Twin magic circle activated, dark arm."

"Gahaha!"

 Another beautiful woman, who must be a companion of the group, comes running toward us, swinging a large axe. However, I deployed my two dark arms, used the weapon with my right arm, and grabbed a large shield.

 And this one was also killed by the magic sword, through a gap in her armour directly into her neck. Even though they are a strategy group, there are a lot of holes in their armours, so it was easy to kill them.

My appearance made the enemy groups panic a little and charge at me without sticking to their strategy. Perhaps they did not calculate that there could be another demon to support the nightmare.

The only one who was not upset by my appearance was Jigoro. He guessed from my timing that I was Isamu. And he quietly broke the neck of the vanguard. He also killed some of the members while I was in the middle of the young girl's attack and the beautiful woman's assault.

 There are only three survivors. They are Mr Yusha, the girl kicked by Jigoro, and a huge man in dull-coloured armour.

 Hmm? Unlike the Rat Man, I can actually hear his voice. It looks like [linguistics] can help communicate when dealing with players.

"Are they too much for you to fight?" I asked Jigoro.

"I can take care of them."

 Hmmm, that's great confidence. Well, then, let's look at how you will take care.

"Then show me. Show me your fight!"

"Ghee gaaaaaaaah!"

"Damn it, I can't help it! Rose, take cover! Mr Claude, can you act as a shield?" Mr Yashu asked his group members.

"Okay!"

"I got it!"

While Jigoro was busy taking the three of them down, I now finally felt the presence of the tentacle demon. I turned around.

"...Ms. Iris?"

 No, though I am surprised. The three humans may not have been able to see me because of the darkness, but I, who have [night vision], could see them approaching perfectly. And so was I able to see Ms Iris clearly.

While I was chatting up with Iris, Jigoro had already defeated them.

"I was thinking I should also apply for the group."

"Wow, thank you!"

 Even though it wasn't necessary, she indeed helped me, and more importantly, I had planned to do this from the beginning. I had an idea in mind to form a demon group.

"Done," Iris said.

Iris has also joined the group now. She is one of us.

"I'd like to thank you first of all for your help. I would have died back in the goblin village if it weren't for you. So, what the hell are you, an NPC?" Jigoro said to Isam.

"Ha, haha! I am not an NPC!"

"So you're a player. You are a real player, aren't you? And that rock over there?" Jigoro asked Isam

"I don't know if we're close enough to be introduced, but this is Iris. And Iris, this is Mr Jigoro, the 'Nightmare of the Northern Mountains'."

They both looked at each other.

"Thank you. So I originally came here to see if I could help Ms Iris, who was in a dire situation. She is a beginner, and she chose a demon character like us." Isamu to Jigoro.

"I see. So, what's 'Nightmare in the Northern Mountains'?" Jigoro asked.

 I knew he is someone who doesn't read the board as much as I do. Well I also started reading it recently. He doesn't know how feared he is with other players..

"It's about you."

"Huh?"

"You've made a lot of players bleed, haven't you? That's the name they gave you because they were afraid of you." Isamu to Jigoro

"Wow, I see."

"I heard that it was a strike force formed for you because you wiped out one a while ago. They were here for revenge." Isamu to Jigoro.

"That is really overwhelming for me. I did not know players took me seriously."

 Jigoro puts his hand on his forehead and looks up to the sky. It's no wonder he's become so infamous that before he knew it. His fighting style was brutal.

"If it's okay with you two, I'd like to invite you to my base?" Isam asked both

"Seriously?"

"Really?"

"Yes, Being demons in this world, we should help each other. To be honest, I didn't like the idea of staying alone in an MMO. I wanted a friend. So, will you two join me?"

 Both are new to me, but I don't think they are bad people. Jigoro is a good-natured young man, except for his battle-crazed temperament and foul language, and Iris is a lovely, honest girl. However, she seems to quickly be fooled. I would love to have them as friends.

"You stink of water, Isamu.... But hey, thanks for saving my life." Jigoro said to Isam.

"Um, well, I may be dragging my feet, but thank you!"

"Oh, you both agreed! Good."

"Thank you. Then let's leave immediately. When the sun comes up, I'll be ashes. Jigoro, take this. It's a recovery potion I created. It will help you heal your battle wounds," Isamu said.

"I'm sorry for everything. I'll pay you back next time in the battle!"  

 Saying so, Jigoro takes a gulp of the recovery medicine.

 " Anyway, it takes a little over two hours to get to the base from here on foot at a normal pace." Isam

"Oh, um! Okay!"

"Hmm? Mr Iris is reluctantly extending one of her tentacles. She must have something to say."

"Can I help you?"

"Um, call me, too, please!"

Oh, that's right. We are friends, so we can't be strangers forever. I'm on a first-name basis with Jigoro, so I should do that with her.

 "All right, Iris. . is this okay?"

"Yes!"

"So, where is Isaam's hideout?"

"Oh, I didn't mention that? You will eventually find out, so let's go to my base."

"The location of my base is in the city of Firth, in a hidden room in its sewers," Isam added.

We arrived at my base.

 They marvelled at the wall, which opened with a faint sound, and the laboratory door that appeared from behind it. Maybe this thrill is familiar to all of us!

"That's amazing! I didn't think there was a hidden room!"

"Wow, I got 10 SP just for finding it!" Jigoro said.

 Oh, people still get a discovery bonus even if the place has already been discovered by someone else? But the amount of SP has decreased. Difference between the first and the second, I guess.

"Welcome to my laboratory. As long as you don't break anything, you can use it as you like... What do you think?" Isam to others

"Um... it's okay!"

 Iris touches the earthen walls of the base with her tentacles to get a feel for them. We talked along the way about the remodelling plan for the base.

 Iris said that when she was creating her character, she told God that she wanted a species that could do different tasks simultaneously. The result is the Lesser Tentacled Lesser Roper. She is a multi-tasker.

 She certainly seems to be able to multitask with its many tentacles.

 And as you may have figured out from the word "work," Iris is a production worker. All of her skills are for production and gathering, except for those specific to her race.

 Among her many ability skills are [mining], and Iris suggested that she might be able to use it to expand the base. That would be very interesting, wouldn't it?

 Despite the battle, I am honestly pleased with the new additions to my team. The more people we have, the more things we can do and want to do. I look forward to the future!
