The Silent Pact of a Wolf Babysitter
Chapter 77: So—Let The Bashing Begin

Chapter 77: So—Let The Bashing Begin

For some reason, I started to panic.

I had felt an enormous surge of curse energy erupt around here.

And judging by the surroundings—stretching over a mile radius—it was completely saturated with curses and death.

A shame, I wasn’t here when it happened.

But—No! Did something get Leviathan?

Did... she die?

Impossible! I’m the only one allowed to slay her.

And there’s no way that tenacious sea worm would just roll over and die.

Whatever attacked her—I’d love to punch it right in the face.

While I was fantasizing about which torture technique I’d use on this newfound enemy, I picked up the scent of a devil. Not too far from me.

I recognized it.

It belonged to a legendary bandit who roamed the Hades Border.

Slippery little thing—but I had always planned to end its looting streak someday.

As I followed the trail, I found the devil already being served its punishment—on a cursed silver platter—by a pretty young girl. Looked about the same age as me, by appearance.

I hate girls prettier than me.

Still, she had some significant power.

She dismantled the spider with a smile, then finished it off with a strange consuming function.

I stayed hidden using one of my abilities, so neither she nor her subordinates spotted me.

Though she almost did when she suddenly opened a ripple portal.

But the most important discovery I made?

That cutey was drenched in Leviathan’s scent.

For me to still catch it—despite the blood on her tattered clothes—they must’ve been rubbing all over each other, or something.

I didn’t know what exactly had gone down, so I followed her into the ripple.

What I found inside was... different.

It felt like a completely separate realm from Pison.

Absurdly vast for a conjured space—and terrifyingly real, like an actual world.

The greenery, the mountains, the hills, the ground... all of it had an eerie authenticity.

And I could sense life pulsing from multiple corners of the realm—beyond the ones trying to choke me out with sheer bloodlust.

The sky was... water?

Strange creatures swam up there, rippling through the liquid heavens.

There was no sun, yet light still poured in. The temperature was perfect, and a gentle wind danced around me.

Was this place not an oasis?

Then I turned my attention to the sources of that thick bloodlust.

Mhm.

Several massive wolf-beasts stood before me—no, not wolves. Principalities. All of them.

Awesome.

Who could possibly gather so many and bend them to their will?

Among them was a dark fox with multiple-colored tail tips.

Its presence reminded me of my mother’s—deep, void-like, vague, unfathomable.

I’d love to fight her. Maybe she’d gift me with a brand-new layer of dread and anguish.

The pretty girl I’d followed turned slightly, as if she sensed me.

Finally.

I greeted her with a casual punch—a punch tested and confirmed to tear the heads off low-level Principalities.

Though, she withstood it and lived.

Impressive.

Then, to my surprise... Leviathan was here too.

But she had...changed.

Now she wore the skin of a beautiful woman, moving with a grace so eerie it scraped at my spine.

The contrast between her current form and that monstrous sea horror I knew... That alone could keep me awake at night.

From our brief exchange, I learned something odd—this little girl I’d punched was, apparently, Leviathan’s Master. For whatever reason.

I strongly suspected Leviathan had been tricked into a pact.

But I figured... if I defeated this so-called Master, maybe Leviathan would lower her scaly head in thanks.

Hehehe.

Then...

I attacked without hesitation.

In less than thirty seconds, I’d broken said Master in two like a brittle, sun-dried stick.

Except it didn’t feel like I’d killed anything.

The blood flowed with eerie coordination, slithering back into the lower half—

And surprisingly, it came at me.

As expected of a high-level Principality.

They won’t die from just anything.

Well, as much as I loved getting bashed half to death, I also loved bashing others half to death...

’So—let the bashing begin.’

At first, she didn’t even try to fight back.

I was tossing him across the vast field like a lifeless rag.

Her barriers? Below third rate.

Her blows felt like the futile struggles of weaklings.

Everything she threw at me was below third-rate, and I was tearing her apart. No fun.

I even forged a massive hammer out of light and went to town on her—

But nothing I did brought her even close to death’s door.

It started to bother me.

Could this person even die?

Then she changed.

And I immediately realized—

This wasn’t just some tough opponent.

This person was an anomaly.

And "she" was apparently a he.

And bonus? He switched his attribute from Darkness to Light.

Which is supposed to be totally impossible.

It’s like getting bored of eating with your mouth, so you start eating with your ass...

Okay, that’s somewhat possible.

But you get my point.

Changing attributes completely twists the rules of the world.

He entered some kind of Holy Form—

His muscles bulked up, height shot up, hair turned this blinding shade of blonde...

And those red eyes became icy blue, framed by golden lashes.

Sigh.

And yet, he was still as cute as a bunny. While I’m just full of muscles.

At first, I thought he was just another slick trickster who’d managed to deceive Leviathan into a pact.

Clearly, I was very, very wrong.

I lunged to sink my fist into that stupidly adorable face—

Only for his elbow to crash right into my face.

I heard the crunch of bones breaking inside my skull, and felt warm blood slide down my cheek.

...Only Leviathan had ever made me bleed since birth.

And the pain—

It was exquisite. Excruciating.

This was only the second time I’d felt something this inspirational.

The first was when I fell into the sea, fighting Leviathan for the first time.

It was brutal. Never fight Leviathan in the water. You’ll almost die.

But that elbow jab?

It was wonderful.

It gave me visions. It granted me insight like no other.

It opened the door to an entirely new world of suffering I thought I had already mastered.

And humbled me, as a warrior, beautifully.

You know, pain has always been vague to me.

I could say "ow" if you pinched me, but that’s just my brain saying, "Hey, it’s like you were pinched. So react."

But that real pain—the kind that makes you gasp for air while your lungs soak in blood—that surpasses mere reaction.

That kind of pain... makes you feel like you’re getting somewhere in life.

This man—

He’s been hiding his power perfectly.

I could’ve mistaken him for an ordinary human.

If not for the zero Aura.

And the way he absolutely ruined Jorōgumo, too.

But this holy energy of his...

It was stronger than all our chiefs combined.

’I’m going to enjoy this fight.’

So, to return the favor, I revealed a little something I’d been saving—Something I wanted to surprise Leviathan with. But it can’t be helped.

My Light God Form.

A technique that floods my vessel with innate divine energy—

It amplifies my affinity for the Light attribute to the level of a god.

However, it’s a double-edged sword.

Use it carelessly, and it’ll destroy me.

If I didn’t have this level of self-awareness, I’d already be a mindless berserker by now.

I charged again.

My strikes were heavier, faster—light-speed sharp.

My agility peaked.

Though, my holy rays and divine orbs got swatted aside like pebbles.

The tables had turned.

He wasn’t even putting the effort anymore. Almost bored with me.

I looked like a child throwing a tantrum. How embarrassing.

At first, he’d at least give me a few strikes when I left myself open.

But even that stopped.

It was disappointing.

He wouldn’t even let me feel the pain of defeat.

While I paused—half-thinking of new ways to get him to hurt me— Ah, I mean, thinking of ways to hurt him.

He looked at me.

...And I knew that look.

The same one the villagers used to give me.

Like I was a blight.

I... really hated that kind of look, you know?

Whatever.

Time for my last resort.
