The Silent Pact of a Wolf Babysitter
Chapter 74: Jobina, The Advanced Monkey— I Mean, Advanced Human

Chapter 74: Jobina, The Advanced Monkey— I Mean, Advanced Human

Jobina finally tore her gaze from Coastelle’s beauty and turned to face me. Her moon-green eyes locked onto mine, sharp with intensity.

"While I was tracking that serpent over there—" she jabbed a finger at Levi, "—I saw you maiming the spider devil. So don’t you dare act all cute and innocent with me, Missy."

Her glare flared with such force I nearly flinched.

Missy?

Ah! Was she a friend of Jorō?!

If I’d known they were connected, I would’ve—

"Do you have any idea how long I’ve been looking for that spider to crush?!"

...Oh.

Never mind. They couldn’t have been pals.

"And as if that wasn’t enough, Leviathan’s revolting scent is all over you. I had to follow you here immediately."

Wait, what?

"Why?" I asked, genuinely confused.

"Why? Because I might never find you again," she snapped.

"No—I mean, who does that? Did you even know where I’d land after walking through the ripple gate? What if you couldn’t return? That’s reckless! Your parents must be worrie—"

As I kept rambling, her face sagged in dramatic exasperation.

But then Levi spoke, her voice brightening Jobina’s expression like a sunrise.

"Longest time, Daughter of Job," Levi said with a gentle smile.

A real one. Not the usual disturbing ear-to-ear grin.

"I had been expecting your annual visit for so long, I began to think you’d gotten bored of playing with me."

...?

So, were they... friends or...?

Jobina straightened up and puffed out her unfortunately lacking chest. "I’m surprised you remember me that well. Then again, I am pretty amazing."

She narrowed her eyes at Levi.

"Is it just me, or has your form changed a bit?"

A bit?

I think Jobina needs more than bewitched glasses if she thinks the ancient, sea-sized monster has only changed a bit.

Levi’s literally a beautiful human woman now! A different species form.

"Ah! So you did notice!" Levi twirled with glee.

This whole conversation was throwing me off.

Who wouldn’t notice, Levi?

I still remember that one massive yellow eye under Dearth’s boat...

"My master blessed me with this beautiful form... and an eternal Pact of intimacy," Levi blatantly lied in broad daylight.

"Ehhhh?!" Jobina whined, visibly stunned and stamping her foot like a brat denied treat. "I want a human form too! And a better Pact than Leviathan’s!!"

Calm down, runaway train.

And aren’t you already in a human form?!

"Levina," Alicia cut in, glancing at Levi with a curious tilt of her head. "Is this an advanced monkey species native to this planet?"

Alicia, no! Spare her!

Jobina turned ghost-pale from the verbal slap.

"Believe it or not," Levi answered, "she’s actually an Advanced Human Species... A sad one, though."

The whole interaction was awkward.

But that wasn’t even the most baffling part.

Alicia wasn’t just using Magic Conversion like a natural-born sorcerer—translating thoughts into speech flawlessly—she was actually speaking a language I didn’t even recognize...

Yet Jobina understood her perfectly!

Is she a genius?!

Levi must’ve secretly taught her while I was away or something, but come on—that’s way too fast!

At this rate, the little girl’s going to be a woman soon....

"Both of you can keep running your mouths!" Jobina huffed, her cheeks flushed from Alicia’s unintentional(?) roast. "It’s a good thing you’re smaller now, Leviathan of Evil!"

Wait—wasn’t it Leviathan of Envy?

"Hahaha!" Jobina suddenly barked out a laugh. "Now I can finally beat you properl—"

"Without running away mid-battle like always?" Levi smoothly cut in.

Jobina flinched like she’d been smacked with a cold, wet fish.

"I’d love to play with you," Levi continued, "but you see... my Master over there won’t allow it."

...Huh?

When did I say tha—

"Oh?!" Jobina’s eyes gleamed, and she immediately switched into her full-blown delinquent mode, marching toward me with purpose. "So this cute little lady is your Master!"

Ah, those eyes. I used to glare like that too—deadly, focused. But now? All just history.

"C’mon, Levi! What gives?!" I snapped as Jobina’s aura flared like a storm of wrath.

Even Alicia tugged at her, giving her that sharp "I need answers" glare.

"Calm yourself, Master Raven," Levi replied, annoyingly serene. "Jobina, you see, is an absolutely adorable and harmless creature. Fool around with her enough and she’ll eventually go back home to the mountains, satisfied."

Is she a mountain animal now?!

And harmless? As in "fluffy bunny" harmless? Because, frankly, I don’t accept it.

Jobina turned over her shoulder, eyes blazing.

"Leviathan, you slithering wretch. I’ll teach you every part of the human body that can feel the most pain—after I turn your cute little Master into pieces of fleshy rags."

That she can describe me as "cute" while planning to do something so horrible, speaks volumes about her mental stability.

"No matter," she went on, unfazed. "I’ll vanquish this one and prove to you I surpass even your superior. She seems to be a high-ranking Principality. But associating with you is already folly—one that deserves agony, pain, more pain, and eventual death."

Why "more pain?!"

And why is she still referring to me as "she?!"

Without further ado, a battle I never planned for (but apparently, destiny did) suddenly began.

Jobina lunged with frightening intent, and I instinctively raised my defenses.

Something about her felt unnerving. Not evil exactly—just too unpredictable.

I mean, the kind of person who’d drag you into bothersome ruins just to "see what happens."

Please, fate—let me and her never become friends.

She closed the distance fast. And her punch shattered my barrier like glass, drilling straight into my gut with a grotesque crunch.

I clamped down on her arm and swung my body upward, my leg arcing toward her head.

She caught it mid-air.

Smiled.

"Enjoy the afterlife," she said calmly.

Then her leg, glowing with holy force, cleaved through me cleanly at the waist, severing me into two.

Judging by the smug farewell, she really thought I was dead.

I slipped my feet out of her grip while she was distracted mid-gloat, and tried to kick her.

She still caught the kick though. Figures.

I kept trying, though.

Honestly, it was weird watching my lower half do the fighting while my upper body perched a few feet away.

But hold on...

(Platform, this isn’t funny.)

{I wasn’t laughing, Master.}

(She’s doing too much damage. Too fast. Something’s off. She’s not a human, is she?)

{Allow me to show you her information...}

{Species: God-man

Name: Jobina, Daughter of Job — Mortal Power #3

PV: 770,018}

Ah. That explains it.

A god-man, eh.

And the daughter of a Mortal Power, like Bond, I presume.

An ancient one at that—if he’s #3. I heard there were seven of them, with Bond being the latest.

Which means... yeah, I’m in distress.

Alright, universe, you win. I promise—I will never attack nor brutalize anyone unprovoked again.

I’ll be a saint. Truly.

"..."

Both I and the universe know that’s probably a lie.

Oh no—Jobina spotted my upper half!

Legs, get over here quick!

Responding to my heart’s cry, my lower half burst into darkness and flowed towards me.

But before they could reconnect, she was already there—hurling martial arts and divine blasts.

Speed. Precision. Power. All truly impressive.

One second I was bracing, the next I was airborne—spinning through the wind like a toy.

She was relentless. Far more coordinated than Jorō.

Every hit was timed, placed, and laced with holy erasure like she’d spent years practicing how to dismantle people like me.

How am I getting wrecked in front of my followers like this?

Let me answer you:

Our attributes clashed—and mine lost.

My darkness attribute is weak to her light attribute. So naturally, she has more advantage to purify me; even if her overall Prime Value is but a stain in the grass where I stand.

Actually, we’re not so far apart, but still.

Jobina runs on a high quantity of the light attribute; a flavor of holy energy you usually only find in god-men or ancient demigods pretending to be humble.

It’s not entirely inferior to the celestial Holy one... just annoyingly versatile.

It’s basically a condensed form of holy divine power, and it’s quite rare...and troublesome!

If I made a barrier, it’s going to be powered by darkest, so if she - with almost the same strength as me - strikes with light fist, it will succumb.

LEVINA

Sigh.

Jobina seems to be having a wonderful time playing with Master Raven.

She’s trying so ineffectively hard to hide that flustered little blush.

I had thought I’d need to hold back the Summons, in case they rushed to assist.

But no. Not one of them stirred.

Good dogs.

"Hey, Levina," Alicia called from beside me.

We were all sitting in the grass, watching the disaster unfold like it was a stage play.

And when did she learn to speak the god-man tongue?

Perhaps Master Raven taught her?

"Isn’t she hitting Ruby a little too hard?"

My, is she worried? How sweet.

"What are you saying?" I glanced her way. "Master Raven endured my Envious Corrosion Nebulae—something that erases both life and atoms in a flash—and survived without a blemish. Jobina’s tantrum is adorable by comparison."

Alicia scoffed. "I know that. You think I’d worry about Ruby’s health? That’d be like calling him fragile."

Mhmm.

Now that’s the correct response.

I’m glad she understands.

She continued, "I mean, isn’t the advanced monkey having a little too much fun?"

Alicia...

I believe I corrected—she was infact an Advanced Human Species...

"Jobina, you see..." I began, eyes drifting to the drooling, slobbering wreck that used to be Jobina—thoroughly submerged in her enjoyment.

"Jobina is a lonely one."

Alicia’s eyes widened ever so slightly.

Expected.

Loneliness is something that haunts us all, isn’t it?

Me. Alicia. Even Jobina. Different flavors, but the same throb.

I figured she’d understand.

"So... I’ll have to eliminate her after all?"

Huh?

I think something went off track there.

Maybe she wasn’t empathizing. Maybe she was just calculating her rival count and planning to subtract one.

How efficient.

"Some time ago—back before the world was split into four—I used to torment her father, Job," I said.

"Why?" Alicia asked, like I’d said I kicked puppies for fun.

"Satanas asked me to. And it was an effective way to kill time," I replied, no need for guilt.

"I see." She muttered, accepting my reason.

"Jobina first came at me... maybe 240 years ago. Challenged me outright. Said she’d cut me down for everything I did to her father."

My eyes returned to her match.

A smile crept up.

"I beat the living daylight out of her. Honestly, it was oddly satisfying."

"You’re such a bully," Alicia giggled. "But brats like that need a beatdown now and then."

"You little imp!" I spat, eyes narrowing. "She’s far older than she looks!"

"Is that so?" Alicia replied, deadpan as she casually shook and fondled her overflowing chest in smug pride.

"Are you sure she’s older than me? With that blank sheet of a chest?"

...Fair point.

Jobina did have the body structure of a child halfway through maturity. Meanwhile, Alicia is... well. Fully progressed...and flaunting it.

"Hah! I’ll let you in on a secret..." Alicia leaned in close, her voice laced with mischief.

Tamayō and Trigger’s ears visibly perked up. They left the other four newly humanized wolves they were torturing. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

They definitely heard that. And were fishing for more info.

Nonetheless...

Wh-what secret?

Does it involve... getting more alluring to seduce Master Raven?

"This is the last one I’m letting you in on, okay?!" Alicia alerted, eyes twinkling with mischief.

"Ruby, you see... likes soft and supple things. If you catch my meaning."

Ah?!

Suddenly, the image hit me—him refusing to raise his head after waking from his defeat at my hands...

His face buried in Alicia’s plump lap!!

I should be writing this down!!

"So..." she said, eyes flicking back to the show. "What’s your plan for the advanced monkey?"

Hmmm. My plan?

Did I even have one?

"Nothing of note. I just... identify with Jobina’s loneliness," I answered truthfully. "Now that I’m with Master Raven and... and y-you... I can only feel pity for her."

Alicia’s cheeks tinged the slightest pink.

"Hmph. We likewise pitied you, dragged you out of your abyss like some lost puppy. Don’t get full of yourself!"

Yes, yes.

I’m touched all the same.

Though... I wonder when Alicia will start being honest with me.

Unless... she actually hates me.

Maybe she’s just tolerating me for Master Raven’s sake...?

That would... hurt me, honestly.

But anyway—

As for Jobina...

"...I don’t mind her joining our group," I added casually. "As a gatekeeper for Coastelle. Or a delivery person. Or a spy. Or just... a meat shield."

"I see your logic," Alicia nodded like a strategist. "You were talking about someone to watch your back, while you watch Ruby’s back, and he watches mine, and I also watch his."

There’s a lot of watching going on here!

"But..." Alicia leaned in, narrowing her eyes, "Would she be willing to bow her primitive head to Ruby?"

"That girl? Please. I can fool her into being the one begging for a Pact, in fact."

Alicia raised a brow.

"The real question is whether Master Raven would even consider adding another to our group."
