The Silent Pact of a Wolf Babysitter
Chapter 103: None Have Surpassed You… Yet

Chapter 103: None Have Surpassed You... Yet

I am Leviathan—an ancient Titan whose existence predates even the rise of any mortal race.

My power is a tide of dread, a current of destruction that rarely fails me.

Yet time is cruel, and so it passed.

And from that passage of time, certain men began to rise—figures who began to rival, and even surpass, what once made me fearsome.

Nearly making my strength all but mere decoration.

Then there were those who came before even me: The Heavenly siblings, the Fenrir siblings, The Great Old Ones, and a handful of other troublesome beings.

They were... problematic, indeed.

But still—nonetheless—I am Leviathan.

And I make sure never to forget that.

As I approached the poor crystal, a smile twisted its way across my lips.

A simple flick of my fingers unleashed a storm of pressure—shockwaves and wind roaring into existence.

The crystal became encased in faint lines of magic.

What I conjured then—I named it long ago: [Black Sea of Fire].

One flick. Then a spark.

Then, amidst the maelstrom, dark violet flames erupted.

They howled and surged upward like a volcanic tower, swallowing the crystal whole and racing toward the heavens.

Everyone within eighty meters fled—save for the few with enough power to stand their ground: Like Master Raven and the others.

This heat... this power... it’s been so long since I let it out.

I am excited!

I wonder—who shall I burn with this?

I cannot wait to use it against the enemies of Master Raven.

Ah, I hope he makes enemies soon!

I released the technique.

The flames died down, leaving the crystal utterly gone.

The ground hissed, subtly bubbling with magma, and from beneath came the quiet sound of boiling stone.

I turned to my Master—

’So, Master Raven... what did you think?’

He was still staring at the molten battlefield, wide-eyed.

Yes!

I approached, barely hiding my excitement. "Tell me, Master Raven," I said, with the softest attempt at grace, "what did you think of my m-move?"

"What a petty showoff."

I groaned. "No one asked you, Alicia!"

Master Raven finally blinked and seemed to recover.

"Hmm? What I think?" He scratched his head. "Honestly, I never doubted your power. You’re amazing. And to pull this off, even while holding back—I think it’s impressive."

Aaaahhhhh!!

He praised me!! Genuinely!!

Certainly, I lied about being weakened. My power is not lacking at all... but still!!

"So... So I get to sleep with you tonight?!" I asked, barely able to contain my excitement.

"Wh-What?!" he flinched. "Why do all of you assume that’s how this works? That I’d just lay down my—my innocence as a reward?"

Haha! This Supreme Lord of mine... acting more like a bashful rabbit than a force of destruction.

Though... I can’t say I dislike it.

"Hold your horses, Levina." Tamayō chimed in, slyly leaning in to show off her barely-covered chest. "We agreed no one would try to one-up the other, didn’t we?"

"Hold up! What kind of shady agreements are you all making behind my back?!" Master Raven snapped as Tamayō clung to his other arm. "Geez—let me go!"

Sigh...

What is wrong with these girls?

Don’t they realize that smothering him like that will only make him cautious, not interested?

Fools.

The smart approach is to wait until he’s asleep—when his guard is down—then we make our move.

Actually... yes. That’s a good plan.

This morning, he nearly caught me sniffing him, so I’ll need to be extra careful.

Now then... what kind of magical bewitchment would actually work on someone like Master Raven?

As I plotted my latest flawless plan to ensnare my Master, he stepped away to address the participants, bliss clear on his face.

I smiled to myself.

"What a strange fellow... But I suppose I must be strange too... to have fallen in love with him."

RUBEN

Oh God...

Platform, how are these aberrations my subordinates?!

Aren’t they basically at my level now?!

{Worry not, Master. None have surpassed you... yet.}

(Yet?!)

And just as I was still trembling from what Lygari did, Levi had to seal the deal—reminding me that I was beneath her.

Then she had the nerve to ask me what I thought!

I didn’t want to embarrass myself, so I channeled my inner Prince Philip and blurted something out.

Whatever I said seemed to make her heart skip a beat, so I guess I’m safe.

It was different before—I didn’t really care. But now: No matter what, I have to maintain this "Master" façade.

If it slips even a little, I’m doomed.

And apparently, the Mad Trio have been running a Clique behind my back—one that involves the buying and selling of my chastity!

I don’t even have a say in it!

I pulled myself out of their madness, grabbed Flora, and fled to check on the participants.

Whether I am threatened or not, I can’t deny it—these guys are just too cool.

Even Shizuka! She just stood there, stoic like a dark statue... then boom! Nearly shattered the crystal.

So cool!

When I reached their location—they’d all scattered because of Levi’s firestorm—Shizuka forgot she was in human form and dropped on all fours.

She sprinted toward me and leaped into my arms.

Then she started licking my cheek.

Naturally, the Mad Trio weren’t happy about that.

But I ignored them—Shizuka was just too adorable. So I rubbed her head and watched her tail wag.

Trigger had also shifted into his wolf form—though much smaller this time.

Geez... what am I supposed to do with you guys?

As I rubbed Trigger’s fur, and Shizuka’s, too.

Suddenly Hachiman showed up!

"Hold on—I only have two arms!"

What followed was angry growls and nearly a bloodbath over who’d get patted next.

But in an incomprehensible display of competence, I managed to pat everyone.

Yes. All 264 individuals who were present.

Lygari tried to opt out, but I grabbed him too. Everyone gets my patting—even middle-aged, battle veterans.

In terms of strength, Lygari was honestly just about as strong as me. So he couldn’t escape my maws.

Which makes me wonder—how the hell does Alicia manage to overpower me?

Even when I’m not going all out, she casually beats me in strength now and then. It’s humiliating.

I might need to start being a little rougher with her.

And seriously, what is that cheat weapon of hers?!

It’s way better than the Black Lightning Sword!

Pluto, you god-whore—

Why would you give the best weapon to a woman?!

Anyway, the hype from Levi’s last move had the others fired up again. Most of them had gone back to training and sparring.

We were slowly turning into a forbidden mercenary group.

Shizuka’s back to being lazy. Honestly, she should’ve been a cat.

Still... I’m starting to doubt that Levi really lacks power like she claimed. That move of hers was huge.

When I asked her about it, she stammered:

"Ah! Th-that was a technique that uses... Of course! The environment’s magic! It uses the environment’s magic and... uh... manipulates temperature? I did not use much of my own magic for it."

"Really? That’s awesome. But why are you fidgeting like you’re guilty or something?"

"Uhm... You’re standing so close to me right now, and it’s making me hot inside."

"You perv. I’m not even that close."

Anyway, since Levi can’t take us to the human settlement for now...

Let’s make food!!

Hehehe. Hahahahahaha!!

I pulled my Apron from nowhere!

’I’ll cook something so delicious today, it’ll blow their minds!!’

(Platform, bring up the recipe! And we’ll need a bigger pot!)

{Master is enjoying himself too much... Despite behaving like a slave.}

(Shut it!)

Although, when I tried to go hunting, the Phantom Fangs stopped me.

"My Lord, you ought not to do this kind of thing when your servants are available," Swanir scolded. "Let us hunt the beast this time. Just tell us your preferences."

Swanir... this brute really just brushed off that reality-warping move she pulled like it was nothing, huh?

Or—gasp!

Does she not even know she can "cut" basically anything yet?!

That cute oblivion she had? It was dripping like a dangerous kind of aura.

Anyway, I opened the ripple gate for them and asked them to find anything fleshy. Even a dragon would do—we had a lot of people now.

When they are done, they’ll contact me through the mental link to open the door again.

As the four of them stepped out of Coastelle, I wondered aloud, "Weren’t these the same guys who were licking me all over the other day? Why are they acting all mature and serious now?"

"They did what?" Tamayō growled. "Those Phantom Fangs need to be taught a proper lesson!"

Levi added, sounding a bit sad, "I liked them. Truly. But if they get in our way without having the right education to approach and assualt Master Raven, well... they’ll just have to disappear. Especially the one called Bladir."

Wait, education? Assault? Bladir’s life is in danger?

"Levina, quick!" Alicia ran over to Levi. "Now that they’re far enough from Coastelle and Ruby, let’s ambush and slaughter them!"

What?!

I felt my face go pale from the gravity of their conspiracy.

Were these girls seriously planning to kill my favorites right in front of me?

Actually, the Phantom Fangs have been getting rough treatment lately. Maybe it’s time I stood up for them.

"You know," I started, looking at the SERIOUSLY mad trio, "if you hurt any of my Phantom Fangs—"

"""Your Phantom Fangs?!""" They all shouted at once.

"—I’ll hate you."

Just one small word: hate.

But the way it hit them... I almost regretted saying it.

"I... It was just a joke!" Levi said, her voice trembling, desperation flickering in her eyes. "I swear, we’d never actually do something like that... Please, calm down."

Calm down? I am calm. I was just—

"I’m sorry, My Lord!!" Tamayō suddenly dropped to her knees. "I overstepped. I thought I could speak freely just because you allowed someone like me near your divine presence!" Her claws extended, and she raised them to her own neck. "Allow me to make up for this disgrace with my life!"

"EH?! Wait! Wait! Wait!!" I shouted, grabbing her wrists.

"No! let me perish!!"

"Calm down, you fox!!"

As I was trying to restrain her—

"Ruby, I’m sorry." Alicia reached for my hand. "I never should’ve joked about wanting Swanir, Bladir, Chiyama, and Fangstrong to die in some tragic accident—"

The way you just listed their names like that actually terrified me!

"—But please, don’t ever say you hate me again, okay?"

Sigh...

"Alright," I said. "I won’t. But seriously, you guys—"

"Thank god." Alicia clutched her chest in relief. "I don’t know what I’d do if you ever truly hated me... Sincerely..." Her voice trailed off, the light in her eyes dimming for a moment. "I really do not know... what I would do..."

That sudden shift in her mood scared me enough to drop the topic completely. I just nodded and moved on to tidy the cooking area.

...Alicia might actually be a little... messed up. I should tread carefully.

But... "Hate," huh?

It does feel like a strong word. I should probably never use it carelessly again.

Soon after, way past high noon, I got the mental ping. I opened the ripple gate for the Phantom Fangs.

Ooooh—they brought something good!
