Chapter 83: Chapter 83 How Did You Get Out?

Opening the door, the air trapped for so long in the room carried a musty, humid stench.

Gu Qili opened the window just in time to see the sunrise leaping over the mountain, its warm rays immediately enveloping the city that was starting to stir.

She thought she’d never see such a beautiful sun again.

Walking to the living room, she opened the paper bag Nan Zhan had left her, which contained her mobile phone and some documents.

Skimming through them, it was all about the recent incident. She hadn’t expected Nan Zhan to have completed the records already, and the details matched almost exactly with what happened that night. If she didn’t know for sure that no third person was present, she would have suspected that Nan Zhan had been right there watching.

Gu Qili felt a chill, no wonder everyone feared him. Without even speaking to her, the person involved, he had managed to make such a detailed record.

She turned her confiscated phone back on, and the screen was immediately flooded with numerous missed calls and messages.

The majority were from Chen Yishu, twenty missed calls and countless messages.

Mickey and Teacher Shang had also made quite a few calls, and to her surprise, there was even one from Hu Jiaojiao. Among these missed calls, Gu Qili unexpectedly saw a familiar number.

Staring at those very memorable digits, her lips involuntarily curved into a smile, her heart pounding wildly against her chest, making her cheeks flush with color.

Mu Shuoqian had never called her before, always contacting her through text messages no matter how urgent the situation, this was the first time, and the only time.

Yet, inexplicably, Gu Qili felt a surge of excitement, a strong urge to call back that number. Her fingertips repeatedly caressed the screen back and forth, but finally, she gave up. She didn’t dare.

She returned calls to Mickey and Teacher Shang, telling them not to worry, then she dialed Chen Yishu.

His voice sounded worn out but couldn’t hide his excitement.

"Qili, how did you get out?" All night long, he tossed and turned, unable to sleep, his mind preoccupied with her situation. Having offended the Guan Family, those people would certainly make things difficult for her. A girl as frail as she was bound to suffer.

He had waited until morning, deciding to try his luck at the police station first. If that failed, he planned to steal something trivial to get the police to arrest him as well, believing that Chen Jiehui wouldn’t ignore him then.

Of course, Gu Qili wouldn’t mention that Nan Zhan had helped her. Everyone in Aus City knew who the great lawyer Nan Zhan was. She simply said she’d acted in self-defense, and the police couldn’t find evidence, so they released her.

Just as Chen Yishu was about to go see her, Gu Qili heard the sound of the door opening. She quickly said ’we’ll talk when we meet’ and hung up the phone.

Mu Shuoqian walked in, dragging a black suitcase, his jacket draped over his arm. Upon seeing her, he merely glanced indifferently before heading straight to his own room.

Gu Qili hurried after him. As he was about to close the door, she pressed her hand against the doorframe in a rush: "Mu Shuoqian, I have something to tell you."

Gazing emotionlessly through the crack in the door, he said, "Do you want to talk while watching me change clothes?"

Gu Qili, feeling awkward, retracted her hand and, blushing ear to ear, took two steps back to give him space, politely saying, "Go ahead and change."

The door closed in front of her, and she could only catch a glimpse of his tall and slender figure fading into the distance.

Gu Qili felt increasingly perplexed; he seemed to not care about her at all, as indifferent as ever.

She really couldn’t understand him anymore. **
