Chapter 203: Chapter 192 What
Gu Qili was so annoyed that she gritted her teeth. Why did she fall into this man’s seemingly simplistic traps over and over again, climbing out only to fall back in, and emerging again without learning her lesson.
She rudely slammed the door shut, using all her strength as if venting, but a large hand grabbed the door ahead of her, her all-out effort as ineffective as an ant trying to shake a tree.
"Mu Shuoqian." She could clearly hear her teeth grinding crisply.
The instigator had already stood up, his imposing height blocking the corridor’s light, casting a blurred shadow behind him, making his flawless face even more impeccably immaculate.
Gu Qili repeated to herself not to be seduced by handsome men several times, looking angrily at him: "I want to sleep."
"Still angry?" His hand remained on the door, showing no intention of letting go, "I have already apologized."
"If apologies were useful, what would we need the police for?" That sentence was a timeless classic that had fascinated her since she was a child.
Unexpectedly, Mu Shuoqian slightly blinked those lovely eyes, "
Gu Qili widened her eyes at his triumphant expression; so, this was the "better way" he had spoken of.
A peculiar sparkle shot from Mu Shuoqian’s eyes, as if he had heard some gospel doctrine, his hand holding hers trembling slightly with excitement, yet he tried to mask it with composure. However, once he spoke, the slightly husky and anxious tone betrayed everything, "Really, can I?"
"Mmm." Gu Qili nodded lightly while biting her fingertip,
Mu Shuoqian, I’ll remember this debt.
Mu Shuoqian glanced at it and then took her phone away.
Gu Qili also brought over her laptop, and just as she pressed the power button, her phone was passed back to her, and Mu Shuoqian resumed working.
Seeing the word "cleared" on the screen, Gu Qili was so touched she was almost moved to tears. She couldn’t help but kiss his face, not forgetting to compliment, "Truly, Mu Superman who can do anything."
Mu Shuoqian’s face was a picture of calm delight, but in the video conference window that had just opened on his computer, several senior managers rubbed their eyes in puzzlement. Were they going blind? A woman had suddenly appeared beside their president, and his face had softened considerably from that kiss, showing an unusually amiable demeanor.
Mu Shuoqian was supposed to be in a video conference; he hadn’t expected the video to turn on just then, but he didn’t feel embarrassed at all about it happening in front of so many people. On the contrary, he began the meeting with a tranquil composure: "Let’s begin."
Gu Qili heard him suddenly speak a few words, and puzzled, she looked at him and mumbled, extending her head to peer at his laptop screen.
Mu Shuoqian quickly blocked her face with his hand, whispering, "The meeting is starting."
Gu Qili: "..."
Stunned, she looked at him, after a long while finally becoming annoyed, she silently scolded him with her lips mouthing words, wondering why he didn’t tell her about the meeting. She had seen the video for a split second, knowing it was a video conference, so all those people must have seen it.
She grabbed a pillow to cover her face, as if too embarrassed to see anyone, then started scratching her head furiously, seemingly brainstorming a remedy.
Mu Shuoqian found it amusing and suddenly leaned over,
His sudden exit from the video screen stunned the managers, but seeing him return immediately with his usual dignified expression, they didn’t think much of it and the meeting continued.
Gu Qili sat, dazed for quite a while before starting to work on her thesis, but this time she was smarter, keeping her keyboard typing sounds to the lowest decibel level.
The two spent the afternoon in the bedroom, Gu Qili made two egg pancakes, and he ate while continuing with the meeting.
Gu Qili is on night shift today, so she got ready to leave after having dinner.
"I have an international video conference tonight, so I won’t see you off. You can take my car," Mu Shuoqian pointed towards the door, "The keys are in the usual place."
"I can just take the bus," Gu Qili said as she changed her shoes.
Mu Shuoqian put down his glass and looked at her with a faint gaze: "I have a reserved parking spot for my car in the office building’s underground garage."
Since he put it that way, Gu Qili couldn’t really refuse. Although driving his car was a bit too showy, nobody would notice if she parked at the office building and walked through two streets to the hotel.
"From now on, that car is yours to drive."
"Then what will you drive?" He has always favored the Maybach 62 the most. Ever since she met him, he had been driving that car, only switching to a Land Rover Evoque under very special circumstances.
"I’ll buy another one," he replied breezily, as if he was talking about buying another pound of cabbage.
Gu Qili rolled her eyes.
"Thanks a lot." She happily took the car keys and left.
As soon as she was gone, a message popped up on Mu Shuoqian’s phone. He glanced at it and then deleted it.
Gu Qili got into the car, and just as she was about to turn the key, something exciting occurred to her. She didn’t rush to drive but instead fiddled with her phone for a while, even taking a picture of the driving permit that he kept in the storage box.
Finally, after sorting it out, she joyfully placed her phone on the seat next to her, turned the key, and drove the car out of the garage.
She hadn’t gone far when her phone rang with a beep. She picked it up with a grin – the system notified her of a new order.
Gu Qili quickly called the customer, whose destination conveniently was on her way and not far from her either.
She parked the car on the side of the road, took out a new set of seat covers from the trunk and swapped them in. Even though the car was now hers to drive, she couldn’t disregard Mu Shuoqian’s obsession with cleanliness, in case he wanted to use it when idle.
The customer was a young girl who approached the car when she saw it pull over.
"Hello," the girl greeted politely.
"Hello," Gu Qili smiled back at her. "I’m a first-time Didi driver, so if I’m not familiar with the way, don’t mind me."
"No worries, I know the way," the girl was easygoing.
Gu Qili hummed in acknowledgment and started driving.
The girl sat in the car and kept looking around; all the equipment inside seemed so high-end and unlike anything she had ever seen before.
It wasn’t until after she got out of the car that she called her boyfriend and told him that she had just taken a Didi Express car which was driven by a beautiful woman and the car itself was also very luxurious.
Her boyfriend asked about the car brand, and she briefly described it to him.
From the other end, her boyfriend exclaimed in surprise: "Damn, you managed to ride in a Maybach through Didi Express, what luck!"
