Qi Meihui came out of the lounge just in time to bump into Gu Qili.

"Where are you going?" Qi Meihui blocked her path, not wanting her to interact with the lecturer, lest she detect something.

Even a small job as a waitress, she did not wish for this sister-in-law to achieve her wishes; she found herself increasingly detesting the couple, especially now – Gu Qili’s demeanor and way of handling things were too reminiscent of Mu Shuoqian, the man she was jealous, disgusted, and fearful of.

"To the restroom." Gu Qili gave her a cold glare.

"Gu Qili, regarding the Guan Family’s affair, have you truly decided to testify in court instead of withdrawing the lawsuit?" This matter had embarrassed Qi Meihui in front of Guan Dalong. She had already accepted the bribe money, but Nan Zhan’s side was still prosecuting, and the trial was about to begin. Most importantly, Guan Zhe’s imprisonment was certain, and the old cases against Guan Dalong were dug up, leaving him unable to even look after his son now.

The cases against Guan Dalong from over a decade ago had gone undiscovered, and suddenly coming to light now, she couldn’t believe Gu Qili was capable of this - it was undoubtedly Mu Shuoqian’s doing.

"If the Guan Family dared to do it, why can’t they own up to it now? If you knew this day would come, why did you do it in the first place." Gu Qili frowned at Qi Meihui blocking her way: "Could you please move aside? I really need to go."

Qi Meihui clenched her fists in anger, warning coldly: "If you could give me this face, things wouldn’t need to be so stiff between us. If you work under me, I would always have your back, and between sister-in-laws, we could treat each other with courtesy."

Gu Qili laughed out loud, pushed her aside slightly: "Although I’m much younger than you, I am not a three-year-old child. So, keep your machinations to yourself. If I am to work under you, I am prepared to be ’specially treated’ by you. Whatever despicable thoughts you have, just bring them on; I will handle each one as they come."

After finishing her words, Gu Qili walked past Qi Meihui toward the restroom, leaving Qi Meihui standing there bewildered for a long while, before finally grinding her teeth and cursing: "An arrogant little brat, let’s see how you try to compete with me.I will make you leave this place today."

After returning to the meeting room, everyone was discussing the exam matter because the person ranked last would be eliminated, and everyone had fought hard to break out from hundreds of people; no one wanted to be eliminated before even starting the job properly.

Gu Qili glanced at Luan Yi, who seemed not to worry at all; she hardly wrote anything during the entire exam, while everyone else was hurriedly scribbling. If there was someone who should be last, it would definitely be her, yet she remained calm and composed...

Luan Yi also glanced over, and their eyes met mid-air; she had a smirk of schadenfreude on her face.

The buzz of conversation suddenly stopped as the instructor walked in with the papers, everyone’s hearts lifted instantly.

The instructor looked around the heavy atmosphere in the meeting room and solemnly said: "I know everyone is waiting for the exam results, but there isn’t a lowest score this time, because someone didn’t submit their paper, so, her score is calculated as zero."

No paper submitted?

Everyone looked at each other, guessing who it might be.

Qi Meihui, sitting next to the instructor, glanced at Gu Qili with a smirk of contempt, while Luan Yi raised her eyebrows as if she already had a clue.

"This person is..." The instructor’s gaze fell on someone present, "Gu Qili."

The meeting room burst into an uproar, nobody expected it to be Gu Qili, who had made such neat and tidy notes.

"Qili, I’m sorry, it’s all because I lost your notes." Zhu Ping burst into tears when she heard the instructor announce her name, surely it was because she lost her notes, hence her poor performance.

"Gu Qili, you may leave now," Qi Meihui stood up, speaking righteously, "From today on, you do not need to participate in the training anymore, you can go back to Aus City."

Seeing Gu Qili sitting there unmoved, Qi Meihui’s tone intensified, "Gu Qili."

Only then did Gu Qili stand up, with Zhu Ping anxiously grabbing her hand, opening her mouth but not knowing what to say. She was just a yet-to-be-employed junior staff, her words would hardly make a difference.

Under everyone’s gaze, Gu Qili walked up to the instructor, her expression serene as she glanced at Qi Meihui.

Qi Meihui said: "Gu Qili, do you have anything else to say? Not even having the courage to submit your paper. Now, you can leave. If you move quickly, there’s still the last boat leaving the harbor. Of course, if you don’t mind staying here and losing face, you can stay another night before leaving, rest assured, I will cover your accommodation costs."

The crowd remained silent, although everyone felt Qi Meihui seemed to bear some prejudice against Gu Qili, otherwise, why would she be so harsh? She is the manager of a French Restaurant after all, there was no need to take it so seriously with a junior staff member who hadn’t even officially started yet.

Zhu Ping struggled with herself internally for a long time; she wanted to speak up for Gu Qili, but she knew her words carried little weight. Yet, watching Gu Qili being eliminated and speaking out for her seemed the right thing to do, she was clearly so capable.

Zhu Ping took a deep breath, was about to stand up when Gu Qili suddenly turned back and looked at her; Zhu Ping understood that look – it told her not to act rashly.

Zhu Ping reluctantly lowered her hand, still looking worriedly at her.

Gu Qili ignored Qi Meihui and seriously asked the instructor in front of her: "Teacher, are you sure my paper isn’t there?"
