Chapter 160: Chapter 158 Are You Jealous?_2

Gu Qili found Mu Shuoqian’s behavior somewhat amusing and frustrating at the same time.

In the midst of the conversation, Chen Yishu, who had gone to fetch his car, suddenly ran over, looking annoyed as he said, "My tire blew out, let’s take a taxi instead."

No one really thought about why Chen Yishu’s car would have a blowout for no reason; they simply headed to the roadside and flagged down a cab.

After arriving at the KTV, Gu Qili remembered she hadn’t said goodbye when she left, so she sent another message on WeChat: I’m at Qian’s singing KTV, you can go back after you’re done eating, don’t worry about me.

Having sent the message, Gu Qili was a bit scared that Mu Shuoqian would follow her again, but it turned out she was overthinking it. Mu Shuoqian did not show up; he really disliked such flashy places and only hung out with Nan Zhan and his group in private.

Mu Shuoqian not showing up put Gu Qili in a great mood, feeling like she had regained long-lost freedom.

Mickey and Chen Yishu had already each sung a song, and Chen Yishu eagerly pushed her to pick a song.

It had been a long while since Gu Qili went to sing, and her heavy academic load had left her barely able to breathe. Finally having the chance to get out and unwind, she wouldn’t miss the opportunity to hog the microphone.

After Mickey finished, it was the turn for the song Gu Qili picked, and just as she grabbed the mic and cleared her throat, preparing to belt out a song, the room suddenly went pitch black, and the sound system and TV screen went dark.

"Eh, why did the power go out?" Mickey was still busy selecting songs at the console when suddenly the screen dimmed.

Chen Yishu said, "I’ll go check it out."

As he opened the door, there were also quite a few people in the hallway, all asking why there was a blackout. A KTV staff member was walking around with a flashlight, apologetically explaining to everyone.

After waiting for a while, a manager-looking person came running over with a flashlight, bowing and saying, "Sorry, sorry, the KTV’s power system has suddenly collapsed, and it won’t be completely fixed until tomorrow. Everyone, your room fees are waived for today. We’re truly sorry, so sorry."

Hearing that the power wouldn’t be back on any time soon, everyone started to head back into their rooms to gather their things and prepare to leave.

"Let’s go too, since the power won’t be back until tomorrow," Chen Yishu said as he shut the door.

"This is such a bummer, I thought we’d get to have some fun for a while longer," Mickey lamented, using her phone as a flashlight to help everyone pack up.

Once outside the KTV’s front door, the world was still brightly lit. Mickey suggested, "How about we find another KTV?"

Chen Yishu also looked forwardly at Gu Qili, who replied, "I have a bit of a headache, let’s do it some other day. Sorry about that."

"Are you okay? Want me to take you back?" Chen Yishu immediately asked with concern.

"No need, Mickey and I will share a cab. I’ll drop her off and then head back myself. We’ll text when we get home."

Since Mickey would be accompanying her, Chen Yishu didn’t insist further, and the three of them split up to hail taxis.

In the car, Mickey seemed to have realized something and curiously looked at Gu Qili, who appeared helpless: "Qiqi, tell me the truth, did your man have something to do with this?"

Honestly, Gu Qili suspected the same. Otherwise, why would it be such a coincidence? She went to a small restaurant to eat, and he showed up there with a bunch of managers in tow; she went to the KTV and out of all places, it just happened to shut down. She was certain that if she were to go to another KTV, misfortune would surely follow there too.

Gu Qili rubbed her temples; she indeed had a headache, one that he had caused.

Back home, Mu Shuoqian was sitting on the sofa, drinking tea, and watching a football game. It looked like he had been back for quite some time.

After changing, Gu Qili went over and sat beside him. She had no interest in football, so she simply picked up an apple to munch on.

"Had fun?" Mu Shuoqian put down his teacup and asked in a faint voice.

With such a calm expression on his face, these things didn’t seem like his doing, but Gu Qili knew him and was aware of how good he was at playing innocent and harmless.

"You tell me, did you have fun?" Gu Qili counter-asked, "I should be the one asking you, right? Had fun orchestrating a power outage in such a large KTV, huh? Was it enjoyable?"

And, Chen Yishu’s car tires must have been slashed by someone he told to do it.

Mu Shuoqian acted clueless about what she was saying and calmly continued to drink his tea.

Gu Qili scratched her head and reasoned with him in a calm tone, "There’s really nothing between Chen Yishu and me, we’re just classmates and friends. Today we attended your company’s job fair, everyone felt quite sentimental with graduation approaching, so we suggested going out together for some fun."

He nodded, seeming to agree entirely with what she said.

Gu Qili happily thought he was convinced, but then something crossed her mind. She grabbed his sleeve and shook it, leaning in with a smile on her face, "Are you jealous? Because I went out to eat with Chen Yishu."

Mu Shuoqian said, "Thirsty? Would you like some tea?"

Gu Qili persisted, "Mu Shuoqian, don’t change the subject."

He leisurely sipped his tea, squinting at her, "Do you know why I don’t approve of you going to sing?"

"Why?" Gu Qili asked eagerly.

"Because you have an injury on your shoulder."

Gu Qili: "..."

Uncle, she sings with her mouth not her shoulder; that reason is far-fetched. It was clear he just didn’t want to answer her question.

She pouted and remained silent, not wanting to bother with him anymore.

Mu Shuoqian ignored her little mood, and pointed towards the kitchen, "I’m hungry, go get the meal box from the table."

"Didn’t you already have dinner tonight?"

Mu Shuoqian pursed his lips, his gaze fixed steadfastly on her. She dreaded his silent stare most, so she compromised and went to get the meal box.

Inside the plastic bag on the dining table were several delicate wooden boxes, each bearing the Pujing Hotel’s LOGO. She knew very well; he would never eat food from some small eatery.

After setting out the meal boxes on the coffee table, Gu Qili also grabbed a pair of chopsticks. She hadn’t really eaten tonight, and now her stomach was growling, especially since all the dishes in front of her were her favorites.

Oddly enough, although Mu Shuoqian claimed to be hungry, he barely touched his chopsticks, only symbolically nibbling a few bites of greens. Most of the time, he just watched her eat, resulting in Gu Qili feasting until she was full and greasy-mouthed.

She suspected that he had actually brought these meal boxes back especially for her, because he had seen she hadn’t eaten.

"Did you submit your resume today?" Mu Shuoqian lit a cigarette.

Gu Qili felt unjustifiably guilty, hummed a response, and then went to clean up the dishes.

Mu Shuoqian looked at her retreating figure, deep in thought.
