Seeing him dressed neatly and seriously, she decided to believe him for now.

Gu Qili wore conservative pajamas, long sleeves and long pants. She was about to turn off the light when she saw him looking at his phone, tentatively asking, "Turn off the light?"

She thought about it, using the phone in the dark would hurt his eyes, so she withdrew her hand and climbed into the bed under the covers.

After a while, Gu Qili still couldn’t summon any sleepiness. She felt she had to say something, or she wouldn’t be able to sleep all night. Panda eyes didn’t matter, but delaying the meeting tomorrow did.

"Mu Shuoqian." She finally mustered the courage to call out softly.

It took a while before a sleepy voice came from next to her: "Hmm?"

Had he fallen asleep already? That quickly?

"I can’t sleep." She pursed her lips. Since she was facing away from him, she couldn’t see his reaction.

Mu Shuoqian wasn’t asleep either; his eyes were wide open, glowing in the dark.

"What do you want to do if you can’t sleep?"

Gu Qili thought he might have misunderstood and hurriedly explained, "Not wanting to do anything, just felt like chatting. We’ve known each other for so long but never really talked seriously."

"What do you want to talk about?" He patiently responded to every one of her questions.

Gu Qili bit her lip, cautiously asking, "Mu Shuoqian, have you ever liked someone?"

He turned over, facing her back, his deep dark eyes intently staring at her silhouette. When she thought he wouldn’t answer, he moodily said, "I have."

Gu Qili’s body shook, unable to describe her feelings – was it disappointment, loss, or helplessness?

"What about you?" He countered.

Gu Qili buried her face in the pillow, her right hand gripping the sheets below her, tightening and loosening repeatedly, finally nodding resolutely, "I have too."

She had never responded to her own heart before. Today, his seemingly casual question drew an immediate answer from the depths of her heart.

Yes, she liked him. Unknowingly, gradually, as if time brewed a gentle rain, she had fallen for him.

"Where is the person you like now?" Gu Qili thought of that girl named Xiaoyu, her heart suddenly aching, perhaps it was some unavoidable circumstance that kept them apart.
